hi keefg
this should help you a little bit, had letter just last week from TO first choice explaining that the pool in question is not "the large outdoor swimming pool at the royal park but actually the small salt water pool located near the beach, between the hotel royal park and the elenite villiage" i had read it here some place myself so phoned first choice to find out for sure, hope this clears things up for you and happy holidays.

Hello

Does anyone know how bad the food poisioning is at the moment? I have read eleswhere that many are returning with serious health problems.

I want to cancel but will lose too much cash.

Can anyone suggest a diet that will not make me ill? I really want to enjoy my holiday and all these reports are making me sick before I get there!

Also, what trips are best and how much do they cost?

Cheers for that Sushu, i phoned them the other day to raise my concerns because the wife really wasnt looking forward to going there now. Like mcfester we've also been reading some horror stories about the hotel so the swimming pool issue was the straw that broke the camels back.

We've had our holiday changed and we're off to Rhodes now, Eclipse changed our holiday with no fees as they agreed the swimming pool issue was "a significant change to the accomodation".

Mcfester, phone your tour operator and see if you can change your accomodation, seeing all the reviews lately i really dont fancy being in your shoes when you get there. It sounds like the Royal Park is having all sorts of trouble this year

I'm getting more concerned about the holiday now, at trip adviser, many people are returning with too many complaints for me to want to go here. Last year I got very ill when I went to the pegasos palace in Turkey, FC dismissed mine and many other people complaints.

They have issued a statement about another hotel in the dominicon. I think they need to do one about this hotel but it is not yet in the press, quite how bad the situation is over there:

Any recent returners got any updates? Is it as bad as they are saying or is it by chance that the ones getting ill are internet users?

I'd be bricking it if i was you :!:

Can you not phone FC and demand a change of accomodation as we did? Like i said before, they classed the filling in of the pool as a significant change so you wont have to pay any admin costs to change your hol.

The problem is that having looked on the web, I can not beat the deal we got anywhere, only if we went self catering. I can't afford to spend anymore on the holiday, otherwise I would be on the phone now. Thanks for the advice by the way, I will ring them and see what they say

No problem, however its worth "trying" to find somewhere and giving FC a call, as they will look at how much your new holiday wouldve cost at the time you booked for the Royal Park.

They did for me and i saved £185 on what they were charging for the holiday now as it was cheaper when i booked up about 9 months ago.

P.S - did you book through FC or Eclipse?

Thanks keefg. I have been on the blower, FC very helpful but we couldnt find a holiday that was even close to how much we paid!

Looks like we are going, hopefully the bugs will have gone by then but I doubt it!

I've got my fingers crossed for you :)

same here guys spoke to TO first choice said it was only one or two cases that they know about and that it should,nt ruin your holiday.
am going with fingers crossed as unable to change my booking also.
if the food is that bad have heard paco,s is good food up the road, i know it defeats the object of going AI but better safe than sorry ay.
besides have read that the hotdogs and burgers are very nice on the beach, surely its safe to eat breakfast even if you have toast and cereal, bread and jam fruits thats not already peeled, icecreams and cakes should be ok too i should think.
were not to worried ourselfs just got to go and see for ourselfs have read alot of other reviews saying that the food is fine abit repetitive if your there for the two weeks but fine and always something there for you.
have a look on utube ""elenite or the royal park" some good videos to have a look at there are also so some stunning videos of bulgaria to watch also.
heres hoping to a good holiday and lets hope its not paco,s everynite.

Trying to think positive. Have found this website and has really cheered me up, give it a read. worth it, even if it has taken me an hour to read everything. Well done to the family who has put it together:

On another more unhappy note, FC responded today to my original email with my concerns (Sent a couple of weeks ago). I got a stupid reply saying the hotel is fine, I stopped there myself and it was great etc etc. But whoever "copied it" from FC's response list, forgot to change the words! They mentioned a name halfway through that was supposed to be mine and said they hoped I had a great time in my apartment! complete incompetence! Why do they need to lie, they have a problem, deal with it before anyone else gets e-coli and tell us that the issue is in hand. Lieing is getting them nowhere and is not sorting the issues out at the hotel!

I'd certainly be a lot happier if we were still going there after reading that site, seems we were given duff info about there being no kids pool

Seems to me that the food is the only major problem, and going AI it is a major problem! Time will tell i suppose.....when do you fly out?

Hi Mcfester

I hope you have a great time and you will post review on the hotel, We have booked for next year 7th July and was thinking of cancelling but like yourself i could not get another holiday for roundabout the same price,we came back from a FC holiday all inclusive in Crete..The Patra Mare and it cost us £900.00 more than this one in Royal park..The petra Mare was great but not worth what we paid as it was only 3*.So i am hoping to hear good reviews from now on,//The last report on the hotel i just read is a positive one so here;s hoping...

Hope you enjoy your holiday.

Just returned this morning after two weeks at the Royal Park and have to say there is nothing wrong with the place.
Don't have much time at the moment but will post a review later, had a 12 hour delay going out and some teething problems with the room but apart from that thought it was a great place, ideal for families who want a fun hol with decent food and drinks.
Some pro moaners out there though, don't where they had been on holiday previously??Some families thought they were the next best thing to royalty and were so far up their own backside it was unbelievable.
To put things in to context went down for evening meal the other night i had veal roast with baby potatoes and veg's , wife had fish with a large salad and my daughter had Pork medallions pasta and sauce.
Numpty on the next table had a face like a slapped backside
he and his family were having chicken nugget sandwiches smothered in tom sauce .
Heard of a few dicky tums but don't suppose this could have anything to do with 12 hours in the sun per day add to this hot dogs , pizza , kebabs and excess amounts of alcohol, that's what i blame my stomach problems on every single year i go away!!
Ant questions feel free to ask

Hi Jimbouk

looking forward to reading your review, i cant agree with you more we had the same at the hotel we were at this year...I dont know how some people go abroad they should stay at home..We save up all year for our 2 weeks summer holiday and it is certaintly not to go away and look for faults to moan about. As long as you have clean accomadation and good food and fantastic weather, what more can you ask for ??

Jimbouk has definitely pointed out what causes most stomach upsets.

Welcome home Jim, thank God someone has returned with an opinion that has confirmed my own thoughts.
The nugget butty family made me laugh......classy! I'm sure they stayed at the same place as us in June!!
Sometimes I thinks that it is most inconsiderate of some hotels to not have a built a Mcdonalds in the grounds to cater for our more, shall we say, less adventurous diners!!

Another comment that always amazes me is when people say that the "locals are rude"!
These are usually the same people who leave their own manners at home. I tend to find myself overly compensating sometimes with friendliness if I'm the next in line to be served after Mr/Mrs Obnoxious!
Really looking forward to reading your report as we have booked to go next year.
One thing that I would like to ask, I noticed in a previous post that you were staying in a suite, this is what we have booked. What are they like? Are they all together on the same floor? If so how high up are they? Finally, what are the views from the balconys?

Mcfester, many thanks for that link, what a fantastic website!!

Regards.
