Thanks very much David
I know it is a wise idea to maybe get something to eat before we get on the plane, but our flight takes off at 6am to Tenerife, which will be just over 4 hours, so do they sell food onboard, and is it like the snack facility offered by thomascook? eg crisp, sweets and drinks? or do they also sell things like sandwiches?
Im thinking of just buying a couple of sandwiches from Boots if its open before we board, but i will need to make sure they fit in our hand luggage.
Thanks for your support John and to David for pointing us in the right direction.
I pay for my flights in sterling - obviously over the Net. Where is this payment actually made to - is it Dublin ?
I ask because the CantonFX card does not charge for overseas transcations but does for UK transactions.
I am rather hoping that there would be no fee for a Ryanair payments as it is overseas ?????
John
Just for my clarification - the only Cantonfx cards I can find are currency cards typically for use in shops / ATMs etc and not for online spending. If there is one hiding out there that is an online transaction one - please let me know what its called !
Thanks Chris
PS the pre payment Mastercard thread mentioned by David has been around for a few years and seems to be in need of some new blood - so maybe I will try and get something moving on that thread soon !
I'm currently 'in conversation' with Ryanair Customer Services - they have lost some key paperwork relating to a refund I am in the process of making, am I alone or has anybody else had this problem. At 91p a time to write to them its starting to look suspiciously like they dont want to pay out !
Of course they email me (zero cost to Ryanair) but when you try and email them back you dont get a reply and have to write.
Chris
PS my BAA parking costs were refunded by BAA Stansted within days and no need for any paperwork.
I am actually surprised to see that Ryanair do offer refunds in these circumstances but problems with dealing with the office in Swords have been well documented. Have you tried the fax number they show
No I haven't tried faxing. I'm not sure where to find someone to send the fax - I dont have a fax modem in my PC and Ryanair do not want email correspondance going into their organisation from customers.
Regards, Chris
Has anyone tried to claim back Ryanair flight costs due to a death of a close family member and had any issues with it ?
Sorry for your loss.
Would this not actually be an insurance claim rather than a refund from Ryanair?
If Ryanair do offer a refund I would think that it was down to them making a gesture of goodwill rather than an obligation on their part. Normally, following a cancellation following a family death, you would be expected to make a claim on your travel insurance.
I have posted a reply on the aforementioned Pre Paid Matercard thread so we don't get in trouble
John
I've stuck with dial up internet and fax without thinking - I wondered about anyone with a newish computer intended for broadband after I suggested it.

The problem is that Ryanair for once are offering to be decent about things (see the link I supplied above). Unfortunately their offices aren't geared up for this. This causes two problems - frustration trying to deal with them and an excuse for the insurance company to not pay out since a refund has been publicly offered. It may have been easier if they had a policy of not refunding in these circumstances as then the insurance would come in to play, although you'd have to deduct the policy excess which could be £40 per person.
Announcement expected tomorrow (Wednesday) that Ryanair will open new bases at Faro and Malaga.
- 5 in PIK at 6am and having been de-iced. Would fly with them again. PIk stuck to the rules about handluggage, only one bag and bags that looked too big or heavy were weighed. Coming home from Stanstead this wasn't the case. Saw lots of over sized hand luggage and people with their handbags and suitcase. There was no scales at the departure gate like there was at PIK.
ps read in the inflight magazine that Ryanair are working with boeing to produce a coin operated toilet door, £1 per use, one toilet on a plane which means more seats can be fitted in. This will be in operation on domestic flights.
Delays at PIK this morning due to Ryanair aircraft incident after landing from Dublin.
nivsy,
Whilst I'm sure it is a standard letter for these occasions it was nevertheless very well received and did show some compassion that sadly some others haven't enjoyed in their contact with Ryanair.
Regards, Chris
There were reports a few days ago of staff shortages due to sickness etc etc.
I have looked at a couple of flights arriving into the UK and there are delayed by a couple of hours.
Chris
In the recent spate of bad weather in the Uk causing delays in Tenerife, when we returned last Tuesday, Ryanair impressed with the shortest delays to most UK airports.
Has anyone taken a Sky satellite box in their hand luggage ?
I've replied to your post on the Hand Luggage thread. Ryanair wouldn't restict an item like this as it's nothing that's listed as a high risk / restricted item. It's more of an issue with general airport securiy regulations. I can't see a problem in you taking it as long as you don't exceed size / weight limits for your bag and it isn't wrapped and available for inspection seperately at security.
Darren
Last year a chap was clearly hoping to do some fishing in Spain as he took a fishing reel in his hand luggage - we saw him with it after security had asked to him to open his hand luggage after it went through the xray machine.
Well what we actually saw was him, looking pretty miffed, taking off what seemed like dozens upon dozens of metres of fishing line from the reel - presumably fishing line is a high risk item ?
