Yes another own goal, earliest shacks could be open if assuming that licenses are given out on 5th November (Bonfire night) would be 10/11th and more complex shacks maybe 15th onwards unless we see some shacks opening illegally and taking a chance that they dont get destroyed, there are already plenty of beds and umbrellas on the beach all along Candolim beach and the boys are running to get drinks etc for the customers, just no shacks.

Prettypollycat: Sarcasm is your strong point isn't it? I've noticed that about you a few times...do you have a problem? I didn't say the bloke built all the shacks just a few.

Spaldy
No, I don't have a problem.
Do you?

You did NOT say a 'few shacks', you said:

Was told today by a man who builds the shacks for a living that they will probably not be up and running untill mid-december!

Gramps: When i spoke to the fella yesterday who builds the shacks he said that the hold up was due to the hoteliers.

If you're going to take issue with me, at least get your facts right.

And although you took it as sarcasm, it wasn't meant in that way.
Are you aware of what :rofl :rofl :rofl this smiley means?

I would rather you didn't speak to me to be honest.

I hope they will not be delayed for as long as they were in 2007 (our last trip). When we arrived around the 2nd December, the shacks in the area had only been up a few days.

This year we will be arriving on the 13th December, so hopefully they will be up and running by then.

Hmmm, obviously don't like having it pointed out that your post was incorrect, then.

I have had a phone call from Goa today and they are not having the lottery for the licenses until the 7th November. Kevin

It's just a shame that for those people arriving right at the beginning of the season, the shacks - which are imho an intrinsic part of a Goan holiday - won't be there.

Strange they should call it a lottery when the same shacks appear in the same places every year. :think :think

We go on 23rd of November and I will be mightily annoyed if the shacks are not open.It is what Goa is all about.

Quite possibly, but I think we are all viewing this (and other matters about Goa that may or may not aggravate people) as what would happen in THIS country or what WE would do in the same circumstances.

However, things get done differently in India - we either have a moan about it and decide it's still worth going - or we vote with our feet.
Everyone has a choice in that.

As Fizzy said on another thread, no point working yourself up about things you can't change.

Been there today it's pathetic, with beach lads having the cheek to ask for 100 rupees for a sunbed!!
STILL COULD HAPPEN ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!! :rofl :rofl :rofl Never mind things get done differently in India.....nothing gets done!!

What exactly is pathetic about the beach boys asking for 100rps?
Serious question, spaldy.

STILL COULD HAPPEN ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!!

Not exacly.
The beach boys in Greece would ask for euros, the beach boys in Turkey would ask for Turkish Lira.....I'm sure you see where I'm going with this.

Of course things get done differently in India, as I said in my earlier post - you either put up with it or not.
You certainly can't change it by moaning about it on here.

I heard from one of the lads at Fishermans Paradise Shack on 20th October that they'd already made a start on their shack and would take about 10 days to complete....and they haven't got their licence yet ;)
