Always thought my son was controversial He went to see it with his gf last night and said neither of them rated it

Ask him what he thinks of "Benjamin Button."

I reckon this will get more "Oscars" - I can't see the yanks voting for a British film. :duh

That's right, so bad it got 8 Oscars. :rofl

There's one think I don't like about the film. That's the TV Ads. The ad shows a typical Bollywood song and dance scene which is actually ONLY in the end credits and not actually in the film. That's a bit naughty.

I'm very fussy about films and I thought it was great.

I'm amazed - thank God that true talent won in the end. :tup

Contratulations to Danny Boyle and his crew, this film deserves all 8 Oscars and so good to see that British talent is the best in the world. :tup
BTW the copy dvd we bought from a beach seller on Candolim beach for 100 rupees is fantastic, nothing wrong with it - had already seen the film at the cinema just before our holiday.

Saw the film last night and I loved it, just a pity I was eating pizza when the toilet scene came on

Yeah that was gross wasn't it nejulie :yuck I could imagine the stench too :yikes

We watched it last night. The verdict from the jury here is that it was a nice/watchable film. Nothing particularly outstanding but we still enjoyed it. I felt the book was the same, a nice little read but nothing exceptional but I can see the attraction to make a film based on it. There are differences in the story lines of the book and film but unlike other books that have been made into films, in this instant I didn't feel that one was worse/better than the other. (such as when I read/saw Papillon). From a technical angle the actual filming was very good (so my hubby says) :que and I would also say that although some scenes have been deemed upsetting I didn't find them that bad as I just thought "This is India". On the whole I would say we enjoyed it and would possibly buy the DVD. Fizz

We have now bought the book and the CD, been playing it all weekend to give us a shot of Goa. The last song reminds us of new years eve on the beach. Will save the book to read when we go to Egypt at the end of the month.

Yes will go to one of the meets, staying in the south, sorry fiona :offtop Just watched slum dog millionair, have to say i enjoyed it but prefered the book.

oh dear, I finally got round to watching this, just before my holiday and I wasn't bowled over with it at all. Far too contrived. The mumbai scenes are of course interesting. The last oscar film I didn't like was Forrest Gump. I must be unique :rofl

Fiona - I enjoyed slumdog millionaire.......

BUT I thought I was the only person on the planet who hated Forest Gump, I even went to see it again because everyone was raving about it and thought perhaps I should give it another try but NO I still didn't enjoy it :think

I'm so glad someone else didn't like it - it's so nice to know for all these years I haven't been on my own
I want to go out and shout from the rooftops - I didn't enjoy Forest Gump and I'M NOT ON MY OWN :rofl :rofl

There was a article in The Sun that the father of the Rubina Ali (childstar, girl with angel eyes, as they call her, of the Slumdog Millionaire) tried to sell the girl to Dubai. The buyers were undercover reporters and that is how the news got open. The price that was asked was 200 000.-GBP.
Father Rafiq Qureshi said that they did not get anything for their efforts ... actually they got 150 000.-INR and Danny Boyle with producer Christian Colson have established a fund to guarantee Rubina normal standard of life and good education.

The land of extremes, you can find amazing generosity and discusting greedyness living closely together.

The scene where he supposedly jumps in the contents of the toilet is really chocolate he is jumping into .
I bought a copy off the beach seller as well for 100rs and it is a excellent copy.
Been told the book is better than the film and no where like the film !
