Egypt in 43 days.. woo
good idea in principal sun worshipper, but i get up at 5.30am weekdays and i don't think anyone else would appreciate the noise at that hour...in fact it takes all my energy just to shower, dress and feed the animals before i leave for work..and when i get home, i am usually that knackered i can't be bothered! ( although i am making a huge effort at the minute). Hope you enjoy egypt...
I hope you dont mind me joining in your thread - I've just joined this forum today and have spent the last couple of hours enjoying the read!
I wasn't expecting to find a summer diet thread, so was very pleased to stumble across it
Well, my name is Max, I'm 32 and we (hubby and I) leave for our Holiday on June 20th...........can't wait!!!!!!! We have both been dieting like mad for the past month and so far, hub has lost over 1 stone and I've lost around 8lb. Not so good really. I'm now 9st 2lb but want to get to 8st 10 - I was that weight till I turned 27. (I can only dream I suppose!)
We're doing the Body For Life programme which has had amazing results for us both in the past, but I think we've left it a little late this time - I dont think that my backside is going to look like the peach I'm desperate for - at the moment it resembles two cauliflowers held together!
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you girls - thanks for the brilliant read so far and congrats to all of you on your weight losses!!
Good luck to all the losers.
Good luck with the weight loss...and don't forget to keep us updated with your stories of success( or woe if you fell out with your friend will power!)
Then again, I'm not going nearly every day like he is but like a lot of you, left it a bit late. Rejoined the gym a couple of months ago but took my time 'getting into it'. Tsk.
Went for my 3 monthly nurses appointment yesterday and my BP is still raised and this is with adding exercise that I wasn't doing previously. Despite any weight issues (remained pretty much the same the last year or so but need to lose some to get back to previous - I tend to go on sizes rather than weight as I don't own scales) this has to be a pointer to me for healthier living. I am prone to utter laziness and TV watching so the gym is a must and it's a life thing now, why I ever went off it for the last couple of years I honestly don't know.
So out goes my weekend packets of crisps and in comes portion control and plenty fruit, veg and fish.
Sorry to go on, but holiday must be the spur for me to carry it on as a lifestyle habit!
Still got more to go after I reach the 3 stone target - maybe one day I will say how much but not at the moment!!!!. However, I am feeling great and looking different - my husband actually didn't recognise me yesterday when he saw me walking home from work!!!!
And I can now wear size 14 French knickers that I found languishing unworn at the bottom of my underwear drawer for the past 10 years!!!! Yippeee!! Had a good night at the gym last night - sweating like a mad woman so I'm confident I can keep up the good work.
Have to do a lot of overtime in the next week though, so need to watch what I eat at work and try to find time for the gym. Phew - it's exhausting, but not as exhausting as carrying around that 2.5 stone!!!
SandC - holidays are a great motivator for this. My BP has come down, but my doctor thinks I suffer from "white coat syndrome" - ie every time I see her it puts my BP up for fear of what she might say to me!!!
It is much better now, and my cholesterol results are low so I do feel better all round. Keep up the good work everyone!
Missmaxxx, i too have had a problem with weight as i got older..but mine only occurred over the last year. I was a scrawny size 8/10, and weighed in at less than 8 stone. No, i was not anorexic or anything like that.. i was just lucky i guess that i could eat whatever i wanted and still burn it off quickly. I also was an athlete and relatively fit and also burnt of alot of energy with my job ( stress has that effect sometimes!). breakfast for me was a cup of coffee and umpteen fags and i would usually end up skipping lunch as i was so busy and be ravenous by 3pm. So i would have a sarney and that would be it until tea time.. anyway, i gave up smoking, got promoted and became more office based ( more stress though!) and tried to eat more regularly. Well i ate so regularly that i went from 8/10 to a 14/16 and my hips and bum spread sideways so far there was a danger they would be in different time zones..and before i knew it 3 stone appeared from nowhere. Rob gave up fags also and piled on 2 stone and developed what i would describe as a beer belly. His problem was eating rubbish in truck stops ( lorry driver) and drinking umpteen pints of lager on a saturday night..
anyway, as we approach 40 and also do not want to get shown up by our younger family members when we go on holiday later this year with them.. enough was enough so we started a get fit regime. Fags went ( again!) and healthy eating and exercise came in. Rob is doing better than me, but he is in construction and is active during the day and its dropping off ( over a stone). Mine is slow but steady, only a few lbs so far but i know i will get there.. especially as i read this thread and take inspiration from the other girlies on here!
SandC - blokes make me they lose weight quicker 'cos they get more exercise, they're always pushing their luck and jumping to conclusions
Weigh to go hbrac
Val - just remember that dieting is not impossible, hopeless perhaps, but not impossible
Remember girlies that you need to move it to lose it
well i really blew it tonight...we had tea on the run and i had chips..oh well...anyway, Rob starts working away next week and will only be home at wekends and i am certain i will lose weight while he is away..i cook less food, spend less time in the pub, and am far more active sports wise..here's hoping!!!
I too used to be far more active, something of a gym bunny, aerobics and step mad etc., but I have a penchant for wine and sitting around on my backside. You have to keep up the exercise that way - so nobody to blame but myself! Steady but sure I reckon, just how it went on in the first place!
BP, well I was disappointed and I think there might be a bit of white coat syndrome for me too. I get anxious before I go, can't help it! But I know it's only been up since I let the exercise go to pot - though it had gone down last time, 3 months ago, which I put down to leaving the job that's been doing my head in - that area of stress was relieved!
Anyway, keep on keeping on everyone! Gym again tomorrow but as it's Friday and big brother eviction there's vodka on the cards.
If you want a body like Madonna's you've got to exercise more than your jaw (according to my beloved)
Ooooh, it all went wrong today. Whoever brought a huge slab of my fave cheese into this house is going to PAY. I'll sit on them :'(
Weigh day for me again today - another 3lb off, cant believe it, must be the visits to the gym as although I havent been too bad with food this week I have had a craving for chocolate! Only 2 weeks to my hols now, just hope I can keep up the 3lb a week and I'll be happy
well done blue max.. i am sure you will get there..and remember, it will all have been worth it when you are chilling out on your hols.....looking super toned and slim, getting a tan...sipping drinks..
Thanks Val, its definately given me extra motivation for the next two weeks and I'm sure this sunny weather helps.
Seems you are all doing well and keeping motivated.
Where is Kazza and Alsbaby lately Do they still exsist or have they took this diet thing too far and totally disappeared Hope they are well wherever they are.
Do you think the weather has anything to do with motivation
When the weather is grumpy I feel grumpy and can't be asked to do anything really. All I do is the minimal amount of housework that needs doing, i.e.make the beds put the washing on and have a quick clear up, then I spend the rest of the day lazing about watching TV and drinking coffee. Don't even have the motivation to cook dinner half the time although I have to. Yet when the weathers nice I go mad, chucking everything in the washing machine that will fit so I end up with ten ton of ironing, going mad with house work, cleaning windows, cutting the grass, walking the dog etc etc Do I sound depressed Think I am in desperate need of a holiday but I can't even do that with the moving thing looming. Yes I think I am depressed and stressed. Thanks for listening to my moans girls, now I am going to give myself a kick up the bum to get myself going.
Regards Jackie
I know exactly what you mean though - motivation is the key and yes, there is more than a little chance that depression has something to do with it. Hope you feel a bit better when it brightens up!
I'm on a clear out this weekend also. Been putting off and putting off and now, it will be done!
