Hi, we are travelling to Sun Tropical on the 13th August 2006. Could anyone give me any upto date informaton as to what the accomodation is like, is it good for kids as we have a little 5 yr old girl. Does anyone know if they still get wristbands that i keep hearing about even though we are going s/c.

Also a lot of reviews that i have been reading about have been saying it's like butlins and it's rubbish and so on.

Also think we had a very lucky escape as we were originally booked to go to Kos Aqua Beach Club and i see from the bbc holiday hitsquad site that's it's still being built.

Don't worry - You'll love it.
I posted my review 2 days ago have a read of that.

Your 5 year old girl will have a ball over there.
My 4 year old cryed when it was time to come home.

People say its like Butlins but if they mean that in the way that theres always something going on for the kids and good entertainment then I suppose they're right.
But isn't that what we all want on a family holiday ???
Who would want to go to somewhere like The maldives with children - they'd be bored stiff and driving us mad.
In my book as long as the kids are happy and having a good time then so am I.

The resort is beautiful too.
Alot better to look at than butlins :P

Forgot to say try to do The Rancho Texas Wild West night excursion with the reps.
Its a fantastic night out, worth every penny and the kids will love it.
It was easily the best night of our holiday.

If you do go, go on the Saturday night one. We heard from a few people this night is better than the Wednesday.

Hi, we are off to sun tropical for the 3rd time in september. Has anyone been this year and do they know how the wristband situation is this year for the kids who are self catering ??
The 1st time we went all self catering kids had a free wristband for pop crisps ice cream etc...then the second time we went we had to pay €7 per day for the wristband.
Was just wondering wether it is free this year or if we have to pay again.
Thanks Angie

Hi Analb :)

We went in May on a self catering holiday and our 2 boys both had the wristbands, I asked for them as soon as we checked in.

Whether they would of offered them anyway I don't know, but I knew about then from reading this site.

Hi Everyone

We are off to Sun Tropical Holiday Village tomorrow and going all inclusive.

I would very much like our accomodation to be near a nice pool so that our son can pop in the pool without us having the anxiety of whether we can get a sun bed near enough or not.

Does anyone know which would be the nicest accomodation for this and do you have the email address where I could put in my request.

Also can you advise do we still get the kitchen if we are inclusive, I know when we stayed at the Holiday Village Costa del Sol a couple of years ago we did.

Thanks in advance.

Starting to get excited now, just wish that I had a fairy to come and do all the packing. :D

Yes you will get the kitchen.

We stayed in room 534 in Kiwi block and couldn't have asked for a nicer room, block or location.
The hotel's email address is a bit of a mystery but somewhere in this topic is their phone number.
If you search through you'll find it.

Thats what I did and I just asked the receptionist for a room in Kiwi block with an upper floor and pool view.
Room 534 has a double balcony too :)

Hope this helps

Hi, have been looking at the Sun Tropical since it opened (been to Holiday Village in Costa de Sol) but as both children are not so keen on saltwater decided against going  However I really like the look of the place so can anyone who has been tell me what the pool water is like, and do you think if I kept quiet they would know it was saltwater? :omg What do you think? Any help much appreciated...thanks

Cannot comment too much on the saltwater for the following reasons

We went in January two years ago - the pools look absolutely fantastic however I can honestly say that in the two weeks we were there despite the weather being ok - the pools were absolutely freezing

The biggest pool was never used by anybody as far as I can remember. it was such a shame. Even when someone was offering free diving lessons in that pool nobody would go in because the water was so cold

My children did venture in to a couple of the smaller pools once or twice but always came out shivering within 5 minutes

The children never mentioned anything about the saltwater becaue I think the water was too cold for them to notice

The brochure had claimed one of the pools was climatised but apparently that does not mean heated

In our second week we used the heated pool at the Rubicon Palace Hotel to give them a chance to swim

The one thing the Sun Tropical does need more than anything else is one heated pool at least because everyone who goes with children is disappointed during the Winter months - they have loads of pools and I have said before about this hotel they should have built less pools and spent the money they would have saved on heating just one of them

From what i know the brochure no longer mentions the climatised pool because of the amount of people complaining that they had been misled into expecting a heated pool in the complex

I assume in the Summer the water temperature must be ok

Sorry to be negative but if you are travelling to this complex in the Winter you should be prepared to shiver a bit !!

:D Hi we returned from Sun Tropical on 17th August after 2 fab weeks, the large pool is saltwater but there are about 6 other smaller pools with fresh(!) if your children really dont like the salt. I have a 16 year old and a 10 year old who joined in all the activities in the large pool and never complained apart from slightly sore eyes. They both had 'the bestest holidays they've ever had'.
