We went in february this year and did try the large pool. It was frezing but empty so at least you could have an "exclusive" swim so to speak.
The weather was nice enough in the day for sunbathing- although windy.
However it became very chilly at night.

The pool water in the Sun Tropical is a mixture of both fresh and saltwater so although it wont be as salty as a saltwater pool, its not entirely freshwater either. Keep applying the suncream once you come out of the pool to keep your skin baby soft!

Hi All
Going out on 2nd Nov, does anyone know if the Football School will still be going on or will they have closed it as its out of peak season, Can anyone tell me the best accomodation block to book. I beleive that you can book a room, block before you arrive with the hotel

Hi, football school was still going last week whilst we were there. Not sure when it ends as canaries dont have a season as such as its open all year. As to which block you choose is up to you, it depends whether you like a lot of activity or not. The blocks with pools are quite noisy till 7pm ish, but i dont mind as its only people having fun in the pools. i have been 3 times and always use banana block. it has a pool, the chicken resturant and is close to the dome and large pool also close to the back gate, which you must get a pass for if you intend on walking to town or the beach.
Have a great time, im sure you will enjoy your stay.

What about local transport, we dont drive!!!!, will pools be too cold in may, seems reports say they are freezing... hope someone will help, plan to book soon.

We were at the Holiday Village over Xmas & New Year, the soccer schools were running then.

Overall we were quite disappointed with this Holiday Village. We went to the Benalmadena one last year and Lanzarote isn't a patch on it.
People were in the pools that are contained in the apartment blocks but only the odd one ventured into the large pool.

For those who haven't been, heres a google earth view google view

Here is a Pic with some more detail added. The area outlined in red is the Sun Island complex next door. The area in blue is the soccer school, tennis & volleyball courts. The UFO looking thing at the bottom left is the Entertainment dome.

Wouldn't recommend using the car hire company based in reception(autos feber), walk down into resort and use one of the other companies.
The first car they gave us had bald tyres, the 2nd one a Nissan Almera had the airbag light on all the time, rang their main office and they just said they're all like that and to trust them, it's ok - eventually got someone english who admitted it was cos the airbags had been activated and not replaced, 3rd car had badly dented wheel rims.

Hi - I have booked AI at this hotel, but have read very mixed reviews about the food. I wanted a hotel based holiday because of the entertainment for the children (ages 13 and 10). Any advice would be appreciated.

We were AI over xmas, after 2 days we demanded(and got) a refund for the remaining 11 days of AI.

Hi - thanks for your quick response. Do you think I would be able to change to SC before I go?

Sorry - meant to also ask what you thought of the place?

I went with family (kids 7 & 10) last August and it was fantastic.
We had 1st floor room in Papaya block and we thought this was the best - the pool was more private as shielded from the main pathways and we never had problem getting sunbed.
In this block , you are above reception (ideal for early morning excursion pickups!) which is above the main restaurant so could pop down for meals then back to room to pick up anything required rather than dragging it all to restaurant. Also daytime bar in reception area (not all inclusive) so brilliant for coffee or beer by the pool without queues or long walk (they had a serving hatch for outside when it wasnt too windy).

Went to main pool some days, never early, and had no problems with
sunbeds.

We booked self catering then added half board on website (first choice) under meal option section of booking - this way we always had breakfast at hotel and evening meal if you wanted - drinks reasonably priced at bars and we thought better value overall. Kids still got free crisps, drinks, icecreams etc at "their" bar by kids club.

Thank you for this information. It's very helpful. I will probably request that block prior to arrival.

any reports thus far this year? I have been there for past few years and enjoyed the place. Always went sc.

notjces that some people had wristbands for meals/drinks. many of these dined out anywan so just used bands for drinks at pool and on complex.

it was not uncomon for people to swap bands towards end of holiday. Any one know what colur the bands are this year?!!!!!!!!!
