140 lev is plenty I think........be careful with the taxis though best to get a number of a recommended company from someone on the forum and ALWAYS agree a price first and check out how much it should cost for the taxi before you leave....I was in Bulgaria in June and the taxi drivers seem to try and charge us tourists as mnuch as they can get away with....Have a great hol...

I used this transfer company on ebay in July. The price was excellent and the driver was very frendly, still waiting for us after one and a half hour flight delay and as long again waiting for our luggage but please be aware the car was a WRECK.He was not allowed to pick us up outside arrivals so we had to drag our cases to the car park.He didn't even have the neccessary pass to get through the barrier into sunny beach and had to wait for another vehicle to open the barrier then nipped in behind. The car was an old Ford Escort (not the nice looking car in the advert) and you could feel every bump in the road due to the suspension being shot.On the return journey (should have really used a different company i know  ) the car was full of exhaust fumes. So please be aware everything is not as good as it seems.

Thanks for the reply Sharpy. A couple of people I messaged said it wasn't the nice looking Audi in the photograph, a little misleading if you ask me.

Had a wonderful time. Went with the hubby and our 15 month old daughter.

There were no problems at the airport - as previously reported.
No problems with beggars - as previously reported.
No problems with prostitutes - as previously reported.
No problems with wild animals - as previously reported.
Loved the food.
People were very friendly and helpful.
Hotel was excellent - stayed at the Laguna Park - great location and maid service, facilities, pool, food etc. was first class.

All in all we had the best family holiday imaginable. Went on bikes, played crazy golf, went to the aqua park, danced, sang, drank and had a great time with fellow Scots and Bulgarians alike. Don't know what all the moaners are expecting. If you want non stop action packed for the children go to Florida - if you want architecture and culture go to Barcelona. If you want a holiday with sun, entertainment, good food, cheap drink and friendly locals, go to Sunny Beach!! You don't have to be a brain surgeon to know that is what you are getting when you get there .... read the brochure!!!

Booked for next year - same place and time (first time we have ever done that and have been to Zante, Turkey, Spain, Tenerife, Rhodes, Cyprus). Enough said!!

Did you go to the Aquapark in Nessebar (one with the free bus)? We looked at going and saw one when we were driving to Bourgas airport and it looked really good.

Wasn't aware there were any problems with wild animals, I saw a couple of goats(!) and some dogs but they certainly weren't interested in me!

We went to the aqua park in Sunny Beach. Great slides and not too busy. The park is quite small but in a way that is good as some waterparks you have to trek for miles to get from one slide to another. The 'wild animals' I am talking about are snakes, bears and crocodiles as mentioned in previous posts. Yes, we did see people with these but they certainly did not bother you. It was sad to see but hey, our country would hardly win prizes for 'pet lovers of the year' going by recent newspaper reports

I think we went past that aquapark on the way back to the airport, seemed to be just round the corner from where we were staying.

All we saw were 2 snakes and a little crocodile, tho we did see a monkey in Nessebar. The people with the animals certainly didn't bother us either and we certainly weren't interested in touching them!

What a great question! Anybody care to add wheelchair friendly restaurants and bars?

Some of the pavements in Sunny Beach were very poor and were we stayed (near to Casa Brava 2) there were some very high pavements and not all of them had ramps.

From what I can recall most bars/restaurants would be fairly easy for access, it's some of the pavements that may be an issue.

I don't know Sunny Beach, but I would not call the parts of Bulgaria I know disabled or wheelchair friendly.

It's difficult enough for the able-bodied to negotiate safely some of the uneven pavements and high kerbs.

Many of the pavements near to the Royal Garden building site in SB look like they've been hit by a meteor they are that bad.

Plenty of times I had to try and avoid some sort of obstacle on the pavement.

I can still hear the noise of the pavements in Dobrich (my shopping walhalla!) when a bike or a 'pousette' (=childwheel?) passes.
thing thong thing thang thong

Accessibility for people with physical problems is not high on the agenda anywhere in Bulgaria that I have visited - presumably the country's EU entry will raise political awareness of the need to address issues of accessibility but the overall infrastructure is generally poor in comparison with other member states.

Dobrich is one of the few cities that I have visited that has quite a large number of ramps in its pedestrianised area (although some are falling apart) and the number of dropped kerbs in most towns/cities could probably be counted on one hand.

I have merged several threads together to hopefully make it easier to access information on Sunny Beach for newcomers. :D

Hi. We were in Sunny Beach 2 years ago. Had a great holiday. We stayed in the Fiesta Beach hotel on the seafront. Anyone needing a wheelchair would be fine there. The road into town was flat , in fact we commented on the number of disabled people we were meeting every day on that lovely friendly stretch of seafront. I cannot understand the stories of bad pavements, but then we never used the main thorouthfare, we preferred the nice quiet flat walk into the shops.
