My daughter is currently taking antibiotics and i have exactly 100mls of it,which i believe i can take through according to department of transport website, but a few people told me yesterday that i need a doctors note as well,is this true?I have checked on their web site and it says only for medicines over the 100mls,but others are insisting i will still need to take a note from my GP.

He was handing out clear plastic bags for people to put them in. No mention of doctors notes that I saw.
If you are carrying a controlled substance then it would be advisable.
If you are unsure then just ask your doctor for a note. Will save any problems.

I went through Gatwick a few weeks ago with a friend who takes a few different medicines, she wasn't asked about any of them and didn't have to put them in a plastic bag. The only thing in a plastic bag was her liquid cosmetics. As fwh says if you are worried ask your doctor for a note.
I travel through Birmingham a lot and have to take Tablets with me I have a copy of the doctors Prescripition with me. I always carry my tablets in my hand luggage in case hold luggage gets lost. I have only been asked once about the tablets and show the copy of the prescripition no problums at all,
Essential medication in tablet form may also be carried in hand luggage, but not in the 'liquids' plastic bag.
A copy of the prescription should always be taken, not just to assist with identification of the medications at security checks, but also to assist you to obtain replacements in the event of loss or damage whilst on holiday.
For further details, please click on the link in my signature below, which will take you directly to the existing topic which discusses current hand luggage restrictions in relation to liquids, medications, etc.
I will close this thread now to reduce duplication.
