After we booked our seats together (if you remember my original post regarding bypassing the 0870 number) I never recieved email confirmation, I waited a few days and the volcanic ash situation happened and that was low on the list of problems.

However I now logged back on as our seats were showing as booked on the thomas cook airlines site despite no email but now all the seats are grey rather than colour coded - available, not available, your seats etc and it saying booking is blocked - is this due to the fact they don't know if we will be on an airbus 330 with everything that is currently happening?

If we are on a different plane will we be sat together, as in together not accross an aisle, or infront or behind given that we've paid to actually choose our seats originally on this now?

Debefc,

Welcome onboard :tup
I can't say I've ever seen that before as an actual flight number. A 'P' suffix normally designates a positioning flight (ferrying the aircraft empty ready to operate it's next flight) but that wouldn't be the case for you. Are you flying Manchester to Sanford (Orlando)? Where did you see that flight number? Was it in a brochure? ++P can mean it's an aircraft with premium cabin available for booking purposes.

liana,

IFE for May-July hasn't been released yet. The link to the TCX inflight magazine is posted on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

jrwatson,

I should imagine it's a slight revision to the flight schedule, it's quite common. Remind me in 2 weeks and i'll double check the aircraft details haven't changed due to the knock-on effects of the volcano and subsequent rebookings.

flirtram,

LGW-JTR-LGW (TCX195K/L) should be operated by a Boeing 757-200. You'll find further aircraft information, including IFE details on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

cocobongo,

Once your seats are booked, that's normally the end of it. You don't normally receive a confirmation email. If the aircraft des change for any reason, i'm sure the airline will do the best to seat you together.

Hi, I'm looking for a quick response from any of our aeroplane experts please. I'm about to choose our seating for our upcoming holiday with TC. I'm not prepared to pay the prices they are charging for exit seats so I'm wondering what seats would be best to book. Really I'm looking if any apart from the exit seats have a little extra room. Any suggestions please?

Our flight is from Cardiff to Dalaman on TCX 293k. Thanks. I'd like to book this evening while there should be still decent seats available.

shirley h,

Seating is personal preference. Apart from extra legroon seating, all other seats are standard and offer the same seat pitch.

Shirley - Can you book seats without paying any extra then?

Helen T,

It costs extra to book your specific seat numbers (Select Your Seat). If you want extra legroom seating, that's more expensive than selecting specific seat numbers.

No Helen. Thomas Cook are sly. We already paid for 'your seat, your choice' with our original booking which cost us £7 pp per flight each = £28. I didn't realise this until I checked my invoice but I was quite pleased because I'd accepted it as part of our overall price without knowing (if you get me). Now, we can only pick our seats 7 days before we fly unless we opt for 'Priority seat selection' which we can do from today. This will cost an extra £6pp per flight but if we want exit seats ans extra £32pp per flight :really

I logged in earlier to see what seats were available and found those prices. If all the other seats have the same leg room etc, I don't think I'll bother but tbh I've wasted my £28. I will just hope that there are 2 seats next to each other still available somewhere 7 days before.

This pre booking seats business is just another money making scam for the airlines. Fair enough if you want to pay for an ugrade to a premium cabin, or for a seat with extra legroom, but seats in the main cabin should be allocated on a first come first serve basis. If we all refused to pay then they'd have to stop the fiasco. Instead we are made to think that if we don't pay we won't be able to sit with our hubby/ family etc. Then like sheep we all follow suit :que

True it is another way of making money but I have always paid for sitting together. Being a nervous flyer it is well worth it and it saves me from worrying about whether I'll have to cling to a complete strangers arm during takeoff :rofl

Thanks again, this board has been no end of help.

By the way, since I posted the bypass to the 0870 on here, I'm now instead of getting told I'll be called back getting diverted to the standard 'queue' as soon as I speak to someone when I call the 0161 number, I don't know if this is diverting to a premium rate number so I've just hung up straight away each time - just letting you all know incase they are onto it and charging more - I don't know if they can do that or not.

So will a print out of the web page showing seat choice and print out of bank statement be enough to prove our seats? We don't expect to have any probs at the Manchester end but have received them in the past at Cancun end if we don't have proof of our seats - no proof no seats together is the message they basically give out!

Hi cocobongo.

If you have paid to specify which seats ( i.e. A36 & A37) then you should have received a confirmation by email.I prebooked mine and received about 6 emails over the space of two days!

Hi!

I need you help!!! I try to reserve seats for some time, but without success!

In March 4 I booked a trip to Punta Cana Bavaro (15-29 September 2010) with Thomas Cook from Travelrepublic website (because I am not UK resident).
I tried to make the seat reservation on Thomas Cook web site, but it is a problem. I have already chosen option „your site your choice "when I bought the trip from travelrepublic site and I already pay for this (40 pounds). When I try to reserve places on Thomas Cook site they ask me to pay again.

I tried to call today to this number +44 161 498 4400. As I supposed, they are very busy because the volcanic ash disruption. A robot told me to call to another number or to reserve the seats from website (call centre reservation is charged with 5 pounds).

What you advised me to do? To book on Thomas Cook website and then try to cancel the option "your site your choice" from travelrepublik? I wrote last month to Travelrepublic and they told me to book them with seven days before departure. But by then most places will be occupied, other travelers who have bought holiday in September can already selected their places!
Or try to contact by phone Thomas Cook?
I need some ideas - for two months I tried to select my sites! :(
Thank you!
Irina
