Egypt is classed as a short haul destination. Please quote all your flight details when requesting aircraft information, eg dates of travel, flight number and departure airport as there are several flights per week operating from several UK airports.

There a bit of information over the last few pages, however on Shorthaul aircraft A320/1, B757 there is no IFE, on B767 and long haul A330 there is still IFE, and shortly PSP systems to rent.

mickturtle,

Thomas Cook no longer offer day before check-in at Gatwick as far as I know. I've never seen in the point in it to be honest.

NCL-DLM-NCL (TCX624K/L) are operated by a Boeing 757-200. Although the aircraft is equiped with IFE facilities, Thomas Cook withdrew IFE services on 1st May from their narrow bodied aircraft. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Airraft? guide (link below).

MAN-SSH-MAN (TCX815K/L) are operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER (winglets). These still have IFE. You'll find further aircraft information on our What aircraft? guide (link below).

Hi, Travelling to Heraklion (Crete) from Belfast on the 29th June 2010 and was wanting to know what size airbus will be used, have received a few invoices, one saying A320 and recently one saying A321. Any info would be most welcome.

I think removal of ife might backfire on them. As an earlier poster hinted at- can you imagine a load of bored children on a 5 or 6 hour flight with no tv to entertain them?- could be a nightmare for the rest of us. I will certainly be prepared to pay the extra to go with Thomson, just to have the option of ife.

shirley h,

I totally agree with you Shirley. The majority of effected flights will be under 4 hours, many under 3 hours though. When you think prices for many destinations are comparable, even flight only, if you had to choose between two holidays, I'm sure something like IFE on the flight will be used as a deciding factor for families. Thomas Cook say the demand for IFE isn't there now and that was a factor in the decision. If that's the case, and I'm sure they've done their market research before deciding, maybe it won't have any impact but I suspect if will.

'Night before' check-in services can be boon for those of us who don't live near the airport and need to travel down and stay over before an early check-in time the following morning. One of the few advantages of travelling to Cuba with Virgin rather than eg Cubana is that as soon as I arrive at Gatwick (either on the train or on a flight down from Edinburgh) I can check-in and get rid of the hold baggage immediately without any queuing and then forget about it. You need to remember to keep your toothbrush and a clean pair of pants in your hand luggage but it allows for a much more relaxed morning (including a bit of lie-in!) the following day if you can just make your way straight through security to departures and through to the gate.

has anyone used the thomas cook lounges and are they value for money? Flying at 7.30 in the morning and dont think restaurants will be open for breakfast as we're flying form a small airport Cardiff.

Thomas Cook don't operate lounges. They sell access to airport lounges that vary depending on the departure airport.
