But we booked at the same time last year, and we still had to pick the tickets up from the travel agents.
Just phoned them and they said our tickets are ready to be picked up from the travel agents
Has anyone priced-up a Thomas Cook holiday on-line and then taken the quote into a Thomas Cook Shop and either got them to match it, or better still beat it or give you free insurance or similar recently ? They do give 2.5% back on quidco, not tried any of the other cashback sites though.
Our local TC shop will happily MATCH an on-line price but they've never offered me any further discount or free insurance. You might want to consider getting a Thomas Cook Credit Card. It offers 2% back on transactions with TC including currency purchases and 1% on all other spends on the card. It also means you don't pay the annoying credit card charges when you pay a deposit or balance payment in the store or online. The 'cashback' accrues on your statement and can be redeemed in Thomas Cook against further holidays or car parking etc.
Thanks Cazz. Good tip about the credit card, I might investigate that one. I'm too frightened not to use a credit card because of the crunch (although I doubt thomas cook will go under), but like most I dont like paying the mark up for the privilege of paying by CC.
Hi Doepsmc, it's not that recent but when I booked a holiday last May for this August (which I've now cancelled) our local TC shop beat the internet price for me. I did however, manage to get a cheaper quote prior to going into the shop from a holiday club linked to my bank account. I told them the two prices I'd got and where from (they asked for no proof BTW) and they happily bettered them for me. I pushed my luck a bit and asked them if they could add extra baggage or in flight meals...would have gone for insurance as well but already have it, but they said they couldn't budge on what they'd already offered. Think if I were you I'd pop in and see what they can do...it's worth a try. I'm sure if you tell them you can get the extra 2.5% with Quidco they'll try their best to beat it for you.
Hi doe, I found my holiday with TC on their website then popped down to our local branch to see if they could better it and got £162 knocked off the internet price, so definately worth asking.
Thanks for the info Nic, I will bear it im mind trouble is their isnt a TC in my town, i will ahve to go to the next one about 4 miles each way so I need to be certain its them I want to go with. I would imagine they are having trouble selling holidays at the moment what with the recession, so there is no harm in my asking for their best price. Sorry to hear you have had to cancel your holiday.
Opps ! sorry Juby we posted at the same time. If I can fix on a hotel in their brochure I am definatley going to give them a chance on the High Street. I normally used to book, direct with Eclipse or Portland. Eclipse are no more and Portland dont seem competative this year.
I printed off the internet price and they beat it in the shop too, so it's definitely worth trying.
Thanks Swan. It looks like this seems to be working for a few people this year, so thats good news.
Don't be sorry about me cancelling Doe! After our wonderful holiday last year in Menorca, I changed my mind about the one I'd already booked to Majorca for this year and cancelled and rebooked to go back to Menorca. I managed to find a good deal - got 14 days instead of 11 and at a better time for the school hols for roughly the same price . Lost the deposit though but luckily it was only £100 which I though was worth it for the extra 3 days. Hope you get yours sorted for a good price.
Phew ! Thank goodness. I thought for an awful moment you had to cancel for a bad reason. Glad you have something nice booked.
I second that about getting a TC credit card - earn money off your next holiday or your holiday money. I just pay £300 a month on it and then pay it off as soon as I get paid......
Denny
£99 sounds good to me Denny. Lots of good info coming through for me. Many thanks folks.
On the old TC web site it had a page with information to book seat where you could choose the seat you wanted for fee, on the new web sight can't find anything relating to sit together and book what seat you want.
Thanks nic
About to book a holiday to jamaica... but cannot during the booking process see how to book the premium cabin upgrade...can anyone advise me how to do this please ?
