The thing that puts me off booking with DH is having to pay it all off on the internet/phone. My mums just booked a hotel on TCs site and has had nothing but problems.
I think I'll try ringing TC again.
TC won't match it, seems a bit ridiculous since DH are part of there group
That's a shame. So what are you going to do?
I'm not sure. I don't know whether to just pay the extra and book it instore. Decisions decisions.
As Juby says, print of the summary of the quote on TC website and take it into your local TC shop. I am certain they will give you a cheaper quote. Tell them you are willing to book right there and then if the price is right - always works for me! I booked a holiday to Mexico., they bettered the price, gave us free insurance and BOGOF on premium seats, saving us in excess of £500.
I'll give it a try, but to be honest they were not interested at all when I rang, told us they wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the price that direct holidays were offering.
I've booked my last 3 holidays with Direct and had no real problems other than on both of my 2009 bookings the confirmation invoice defaulted to veggie meals, nothing a quick call couldn't fix! One thing I have done this year is book through the main TC website as Direct Holidays now show on there too, I find the online payment system better as you can print your own receipts, check balance etc.
Yeah that's what I like about there site, and the fact you can go pay instore, thing is DH are cheaper. It's only £50 though. I've no idea what to do at all, my heads spinning!
If they just won't budge though, personally, I'd book with Direct. Had a few issues last year with them but the holiday itself was great. Booked to go with them again this year - all ok so far except they've changed my flight time but half expected that really after booking so early.
Let us know what you do.
It's just annoying me that Direct Holidays are supposed to be part of the TC group anyway, you would think that prices would be the same, and if not they should price match.

Are you saying that the holiday with DH is cheaper on the DH website than the DH holiday but on the TC website ?? They're usually the same price (much cheaper than the TC branded holiday) ???
I thought you wanted to book in store, if it's just the DH site you don't like then book the DH through the main TC site
The holiday is £1564 on the Direct Holidays site. The same holiday is £50 more on the Thomas Cook site.
The TC store won't price match the Direct Holiday price.
Well try another shop !- Thomsons, Co-Op etc all do TC holidays......
That was my first move, to shop around and find the cheapest.

I'm really surprised by this... I've just checked both my hols (and a few more for good measure) and the prices are for DH branded holidays whether you look on the DH or TC main website???...... you are looking at the DH branded one on the TC website not the equivalent TC holiday..
Can you tell me the details please so i take a look cos I'm baffled by this
I'm paranoid about someone nicking the holiday so will send you a PM now
The headline prices on DH agree with TC website but it appears that DH have increased their online discounts by £50 per booking but this doesn't show up until you get right through to a detailed quote and it isn't linking through to the TC website at all! I've checked a few other trips in the month you're looking at and it's doing it on all of them too
2 options really, book now with DH website or wait for the TC website to update with the additional discount (but it may not happen)
Go on....book it
Why don't you book it with DH they are the same company as thomas cook and when you phone the number I put the DH thread you will go through to thomas cook plc switch board, 80% of the time you will talk to a thomas cook member of staff. On the thomas cook site have press select because the price on the web page and after press select are often different.
The main reason I don't want to use them is it all has to be paid off over the phone or online, wheras with TC you can just pay the deposit then go and pay the rest in store.
