I seem to remember seeing their boast that they don't charge regional supplements so how can they justify this? When I booked it had already gone up since I first started looking which is why I grabbed it quickly. I booked on their site on the internet, paying a deposit of £51, and have received a 'receipt' in the post from TC, but there is no reference to price on this, only details of flight numbers and hotel. It says that full details will be shown on my Tour Operator confirmation invoice which will arrive separately. I am now awaiting this with bated breath as I'm somewhat concerned that they may try to hike the price up by another £70.
I'm sure it will be fine.
I've booked for next year flying from Luton and I noticed Gatwick was a different price, so prices do vary, and go up and down like a yoyo.
You should have the other confirmation very soon so just check everything is okay.
Mine was spot on.

That's what I'm hoping Caz, though I still don't understand how they can boast they don't charge regional supplements when it appears they do just that.
I know TC is the only airline which flies to Monastir from Stansted, whereas from Gatwick they have far more competition.
Supply and demand? As seats sell and availability becomes limited I expect they yield control the remaining seats and increase the price.
If they don't sell they might discount the price.
You have booked at a price you felt fair and have the flights on the day of your choice. You're happy, right?.

Can anybody explain the fuel surcharges TC make?
I booked 1 year in advance & due to high costs, was charged £20 PP for Ibiza. I understand this charge and though dont agree with it, I understand the need for it.
What I cant understand is, they have now reduced the surcharge to £5 PP for the same holiday. £15 x 4 difference is a big charge.
They mention in theit T & C that they can charge surcharges at anytime when necessary, but no mention of reductions when costs go down. I can swallow the reductions in general to the holiday, but surcharges should only be charged when necessary & they dont need to be now!!

I think some good answers have already been suggested on your otherposting in the complaints forum.
Hello all.
I have booked with Thomas Cook to New York on a Virgin Atlantic package, the final balance needs paying tomorrow and my friend who is going with me is wanting to know if he can pay by cheque, will they accept a cheque with it being the last day that payment is needed.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Never mind, problem solved.
Have booked a Thomas Cook holiday package for next week with transfers included. (arriving Alicante)
At time of booking told Travel Agent we did NOT want transfers as we preferred Private Transfer which has now been booked. TA was adamant that we could not opt out of included transfer. We do not want a whole coachload to be held up because we do not show for the coach but equally we do not want to wait and queue at the desk in arrivals to tell the Rep we will not be on the coach.
Anyone with any ideas how to get round this?

the agent should have informed you that you cannot get a reductrion in the holiday cost for not wanting transfers, but they can still inform customer services that you dont want them. ask to speak to the customer services manager or manager.

Ok we're are going to the Dom Rep Aug 09 and some family have decided they want to join us. I went onto the Thomas Cook website to check out prices and Direct Holidays was coming in £200 cheaper than the Thomas Cook price, even though i was on the Thomas Cook website. After checking all the flights details etc it is the exact same holiday that we are going on but through Direct. Now i rang both companies and they said that Direct was part of Thomas Cook so yes it was the same holiday and they would be on the same flight/transfer etc. Has anybody ever done this before, booked the same holiday but through a different Company?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

There should be no difference, if Direct are cheaper book it through them.
It is the same as booking through Portland for the self same Thomson holiday, but getting it at a cheaper price.
I have booked through Direct and for the same holiday it was £200 more booking through TC, everything is exactly the same!!

Thanks for your reply CazB, i just wanted to double check everything as my uncle has just lost his wife to cancer and he is treating his two children to a holiday and its also their fist holiday abroad so i want to make sure eveything is perfect for them.
It still amazes me that Direct can do the exact same hol £200 cheaper than TC when they are all under the same banner!!

My only concern with the Direct/Thomas Cook booking would be the fact that you would be unable to cross reference the bookings as the two companies are 'separate'. If, for instance, you booked separately with different companies and had your hotel changed for whatever reason (overbooking, building works, illness outbreak etc. etc.) you could end up being put into different hotels from your relatives or even different resorts. If the bookings are cross-referenced, the tour operator would put you into the same alternative accommodation. That said, this is an unlikely scenario and £200 is a lot of money to save.
Can i just say that the £200 is actually a per person saving not on the cost of the total holiday, so really he is saving £600!! Direct is coming in at £760 pp and TC is just short of £1000
Thanks for your reply Cazzholly, i had thought about that already thats why i wanted other peoples advice but like you say it is probably unlikely (fingers crossed) and with the saving i think may be it is worth the risk.

Ah ... with a £600 saving I would definitely be tempted to book with Direct. As you say, everything about the holiday will be the same. As it is the Dom Rep, you will probably even get the same rep! You could always ask if they could cross reference the booking anyway.
Depending on the deposit you have paid yourself, it might be cheaper to forego your deposit and rebook with Direct yourselves, or ask Thomas Cook to pricematch if the holiday is cheaper than you paid? They may do this if they think you are going to cancel and rebook with Direct. Good luck!

We got a good deal through TC we actually paid slightly less than what Direct are quoting for my uncle, But we did book at the begining of this year so we was well in advance!
Its funny becuase when i rang TC just to enquire about the two holidays she said i could have actually booked the Direct holiday through her, thats why i carnt understand why theres such a big difference. I think i might just take a little trip into the Thomas Cook shop and see if they could possibly match Directs price, as i would prefer that we was all with TC but if they carnt then i think ill just go with Direct.

HI,
we have just booked with Thomas Cook for the first time , usually go with first choice. I have some questions about the flight if anyone could help please :
We are flying to Trivandrum on 20th march in the premium seats from gatwick
What is the seat config is it 222 or 232?
What type of plane will it be ?
Is it worth choosing our seats and paying the extra?
Can you pause, stop or rewind the films like on first choice?
What is the seat pitch?
What are the films showing for the longhaul flights in March ?
How early do you have to check in for the flight ?
Many thanks Shanti

Hi, hopefully someone will be able to answer a quick question
I booked a holiday on the 5th Jan 09 to Goa, departing on 25th Jan 09. I obviously paid in full with it being so close to travel, and the travel agent phoned me a couple of days later to ask for our insurance policy number, which i gave her.
The question is when would we receive our tickets? We fly out in exactly 7 days, and thomascook said they will phone me when my tickets are ready to be picked up.
I used thomascook last year, we booked around the same time for the same departure date as this year, but we got our tickets more than a week before we were due to go.
I know i am probably worrying over nothing, and theres always a possibility that we can pick them up from the airport like we did when we booked with Direct holidays a couple of years ago.
Thanks
Nicola
