katzwilliamson,

MAN-SFB-MAN (TOM118/9) are operated by a former Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304/ER (winglets / G-OBJY). You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below) including a seating plan. The one you want is the 283 seat aircraft. Seating is allocated the day before using a computer model. Your seats will be assigned before you check-in. Boarding cards are kept when you check-in the day before as an extra security measure for US flights only. Bear in mind, all passengers need to be present at check-in the day before, and you'll have to collect your boarding cards on the morning of the flight so day before check-in might not be as much of a time saver as you imagine. It works for some, but I've never seen the point in it personally unless you live locally or are staying in an airport hotel.

God that was quick lol thanks for that.

We are travelling from un-sunny Glasgow and stayin in hotel at the airport anyway and could do it before we check into hotel. So if we are actually issued with boarding cards the night before (just they then keep them til' the morning), that would mean that we would have seat allocation??? Slightly better chance then of getting us all together perhaps eh?

Or in your opinion, should I give Thomsons another 70 quid of my hard earned cash and pay to reserve now?

Sorry for more questions (bit blonde lol)

Cheers, Katz

katzwilliamson,

We try our best! 8 minutes response time is quite slow, I had it down to 2 minutes this afternoon!! (slow day, rained off!). Regardless of when you get your boarding cards, seating is allocated 24 hours before your deprture date. Thomson use a computerised model to allocate seating based on a complex formula. Seating will be allocated before you get to check-in. You won't be able to change it. If you want specific seats or peace of mind of seating together, that's were the extra charges come in. Of course there are no guarantees you'll have seating allocated together, as it depends on a number of factors, but the vast majority of passengers will be allocated seating together. Due to the nature of aircraft seating an configurations, it's inevitable some will get split up. I would imagine you'll get seats C/D/E/F in a line, but there are no guarantees. I'm flying with them in 7 weeks and have already pre-select my seats. I like a specific seat for views out of the window so personally, I like the peace of mind knowing I have my window seat. Whether you want to pay the extra is really up to you.

Mdollar,

There are photos linked from our What Aircraft? guide (link below) for all the aircraft types. I've still to get cabin photos for some types, but there are ones there for most. Your flights are operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER, probably from the ex First Choice fleet.

Hi Darren or anybody in the know. A question from my son ....... when travelling in Premium are there any power points to enable him to charge his iPod or PSP.

Thanks again,
Pat

Some of the ex-FCA have american style power sockets under each seat(or under each aisle seat) i've never got on my hands and knees to check. They operate 110v's.

Off the top of my head G-DBLA and G-OOBM does I think and G-OOBK doesn't. Not sure about the remaining three. They still have power running through them also, tested it in May when I didn't have anything better to do.

Further details have been released regarding the Boeing 787-800 due in January 2012 at the Farnborough Airshow. A video of the proposed new interior is available on their Live the Dreamliner website with a walkthrough of the new cabins. It's nothing too dramatic, but they have finally decided to install the bar! This was originally due to be installed as part of the refurbishment of the new long-haul experience for the First Choice 767s back in 2004/05 but was dropped at the last minute and replaced with 6 extra seats. The video is about the 5th down the list. I must say it's looking light and airy inside. Seats remain beige leather and IFE will be Panasonic (seat back) featuring broadband internet access and up to 1000hrs of HD entertainment. I'm quite looking forward to my first trip on this bird! New destinations are suggested too; Vietnam, Madagascar, Honolulu, Cambodia, Ecuador, Buenos Aires, Borneo and Namibia.

We are due to fly to Mexico in December.

I know last time i checked, it was still too soon to say which plane we would be on, but what I wanted to check was how long before you could pre-allocate our seats.

I was just under the impression that if we were flying Premium economy, we would have the ability to use this service. But so far, the only options I have seen when logging into the account is to pay for it? Is it normally only a couple of months before, or am I best off giving Thomson a call.

Cheers in adavance.

SEAGLE,
believe its 60 days before departure for selecting your seats online, this is free from what i can gather if your in Premium, i heard somewhere that you can select your seats via phone earlier than you can online

Thanks Darren.

Although I don't suppose it would do much good phoning up just yet would it, because they probably arent sure which plane they will be using yet.

Or do they tend to have a pretty set pattern. I am going from Gatwick beginning of December.

Cheers again.

SAEAGLE,

You can start requesting seats from 90 days over the phone, and 60 days online. I did mine the other week.

Cheers Darren (and previous thanks to Richard)

Do you have a slight inclination of which plane they will use i.e. the old first choice or Thomson one. Can start doing my prep work now for which would be a preferable row/seat etc.

SAEAGLE,

I'd have though an ex-FCA, but that's subject to confirmation.
