Probably because it costs quite a few £££ and requires the aircraft to be out of service for a few days. The 757's are getting quite old now and it eventually gets more costly to run and maintain them than replace them with with more modern and efficient aircraft. Not that there's anything to replace the versitility of the 757!

Just to let everyone know Thomson/First Choice have suspended their Thomson Airways flights to Mexico, at the moment that only includes Cancun but as Cozumel starts next week, it may include that destination too.
How awful this is. We are quite lucky as we almost booked our honeymoon to Mexico (going next week)but then went for the Maldives instead

Hi We were due to fly on Saturday and are waiting to hear if ours has been cancelled (highly likely) dont suppose you know (TOM078 from LGW) thanks

I would say its highly likely, because they are planning to repatriate over 2000 customers and they won't do that if its going to be all ok in a few days time- don't make any plans yet- call the help line.

Thank you. I noticed earlier in the thread you advised someone regarding the aircraft that they would be flying on and knew that it was not scheduled for a flight the day before.
Do you know if our aircraft is due in from anywhere when we fly? Its flight TOM188 from Manchester to Male on Friday 8th May

The aircraft used comes in from Mombassa, Kenya on flight TOM143. It lands a very tight 2 hours before your flight departs.

I should imagine the aircraft arrives from Orlando Sanford (TOM804/5) before going on to operate your flight to Punta Cana.

I am now flying Bham - Jamaica on 19th May...can you confirm whether it will be a thompson or first choice, what the plane will be - is there a picture of the seating and is the ife known yet
