At The Moment It Looks As Though This Flight Will Be Operated By An ex Thomsonfly Boeing 767-300,
These Offer The Same Service Levels (As Its Now One Airline) And The Same Seat Pitch (33"), The Only Thing Is That It Has Slightly Less Elbow Room

STN-EFL-STN (TOM5754/5) are operated by Boeing 737-800. Refer to our What Aircraft? thread for more details. 32A/B aren't extra legroom seats; they would be on a Boeing 757-200 but the flight schedule is showing your flights as operated by a 737-800. Extra legroom seats on the 738 are by the overwing exits on rows 15 and 16. Your booking details are help electronically so all your details will be on the system.
Darren
You will be on a 737-800
Rows 32A/B are not extra legroom on these aircraft they are infact the last row of seats next to the toilets.
In previous years they used a different aircraft on this route and row 32 would have been extra legroom. If you have paid got extra legroom they will automatically move you to rows 15 or 16, If you have also paid to select your seat(to specifically ask for 32A for instance) then they will refund this part of the charge as you won't be getting row 32.
I would get something in writing off your tour operator to say you have paid for meals in case anything goes wrong on the day, you can proove to the cabin crew you have paid.
So 10AB is the first row in economy, aft of the mid WC with a bulkhead in front (not for long legs!).
If I request 11 or 12AB or any AB from 15 on to about 25, we should be midships and avoid windows .. yes?
BTW, did you ever fly VC10? Take off was amazing - really steep climb, lying back in your seat like an astronaut and the feeling of power from those tail-mounted engines. Never experienced anything like it since.
John.
Thanks Darren i'm going to give them a call as i was assured they were extra legroom seats and it was a 757!!
Toilets are located by the L1 door (premium only), behind row 9 (L2 door) and the rear of the arcraft. The aircraft vary slightly as some were originally ordered by Continental / operated by Vietnam airlines. The first row in economy is 11 but with the toilets on the left and bulkhead on the right, it's 12 by the window from memory. It depends what sort of view you want, behind row 22 is best if you don't want the wing in the way. Anything forward of that and you'll have an engine or wing obstructing your view.
I'm not really old enough to remember the VC-10's in civillian use so i don't think I ever flew on one. I've been onboard one though and the RAF still operate some. I get them overflying our house every so often and you know what it is before you see them with the noise and smokey engines!
Darren
Think I'll take your advice and try for aft of 22AB - your photo looks beautiful.
I reckon VC10s didn't smoke in those days. New engines at the time. Ever followed a twenty year old Ford on the road
I used to get off a VC10 in Blantyre, Malawi and on to a DC3 for the last leg home. That was some contrast in flying!! And those things did smoke (once you cranked them up with the handle!)
John.
I'm going to be at check in at Stansted really early anyway so if they are wrong they have time to sort it!!
Thanks anyway
Just to check got the wife to call and she got a recorded message, and the outcome was for her to call back after the 17th of May. seems the facility is there but they are not upto speed on the Summer Season Holidays.
Ignore the maessage and carry on hold all MAY - JUNE Flights logged so you should be able to book.
Save money and ring 02476282828 and ask for Thomson Airways then hit option 2

hoping for 2-3-2, more room

Just wondered if anyone worked for Thomson, I am a bit worried about our luggage.
We are off to Marsa Alam next wednesday and I'm trying to sort my case out. Usually we take a case weighing 26kg with clothes in and a holdall with shoes, snorkling stuff and all the creams, shampoo etc weighing 14kg. I have managed to get this down to 22kg and 18kg do you think this will be ok? I know the max is now 23kg but someone has told me I have to have 2 x 20kg is this right?
Thanks for any replies,
Anne
