Cancun for me in the Riu.
If I have time ill give you a quick message tomorrow when I arrive at the hotel telling you about the plane.
Heading to Cancun from Manchester on Wednseday morning. (22nd) on TOM148.
Received a phonecall from Thomson this morning advising me that the aircraft with 33" pitch is in for 'emergency repairs', and is being replaced by a 767 with only 29" pitch!
I'm of the impression that a former FCA 767 is being replaced with one of the old Britannia aircraft.
Being a nosey ATC'er, anyone know whats up with the a/c supposed to be taking us out, and if the ex BY a/c will have IFE on board? 10 hours is a long time with no form of mild entertainment and only 29" pitch!
Cheers
Bob Agg
Welcome onboard
Refer to the posts on the previous page (there's other posters on your flight). The original aircraft has a problem that needs repair, I can't say what it is. The flight is being covered by a former Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304/ER (Britannia as you mention) in the short haul configuration. The aircraft is a former long haul aircraft and has the long haul interior, ie leather seats and seat back IFE, but with the short haul seat pitch and no premium cabin (328Y). You'll find further information on our What aircraft? guide. The IFE guide is on page 134, although the games differ slightly on the ex-TOM's. I've been across the pond a few times on these aircraft, they aren't as bad as you imagine although they're a far cry from what we've become acustomed to over the last few years.

To allow each passenger on say a 757-200 30in seat pitch approximately how many rows of seats would have to be removed??
Thanks very much for the informed (and quick!) reply, at such an unsociable hour in the morning as well!
When you mention that you can't say whats up with the original a/c, do you mean you can't say/you don't know, or your can't say because you just can't!!
Cheers again
Gary
Hola zjc
It would need 3 rows to be removed. It's not quite as simple as this, but there are 41 rows of seats on the aircraft. If each row required 2" more seat pitch, that equates to 82". The removal of 3 rows would therefore give 84" of room in which to sread the seats out in.

My contact in ops would likely get in to trouble if the leak got back to him/her! I beleive it's G-DBLA that's out of action this week.

Hi there flying from glasgow to cancun on 14th august on tom 348 returning 28th on tom 349. wondered if anyone knows the seat configuration and if the aircraft will have 33 inch pitch or 29 inch. thanks
Welcome onoard
Your flights, GLA-CUN-GLA (TOM348/9) are operated by a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide and IFE details on page 134. What you're read above is a one-off due to a sick aircraft.
Darren
not sure if this is the right place to ask but have a holiday booked to Majorca at the end of August and was hoping for further info about inflight meals.
Another members told me to post my flight number: TOM2240 and that someone may be able to help me before we book the inflight meals.
Many thanks
Ruth
babymaddie,
Following on from my post a couple of weeks ago about choosing our extra leg room seats for our flight to the Maldives, after the money I paid for the seats and the extra to reserve them, the seats weren't the extra leg room ones that I paid for just normal seats. The aircraft was changed at the last minute to one with a slightly different interior (G-OOAN instead of what it was supposed to be), so seats 20 A & B weren't the extra leg room ones like they were supposed to be. The flight back was the correct aircraft however and we had our extra leg room seats that we paid for. There wasn't anything the cabin crew could do for me as the other passengers that had extra leg room seats had also paid for them so we couldn't be swapped. Obviously this was a very disappointing start to our holiday and I want my money back for the cost of the seats and also the money we both paid to upgrade our TVs on the flight which stopped working after about an hour as well as compensation for the inconvenience they caused. There is also some other little things that ruined that flight that I want to bring to the attention of First Choice/Thomson. The flight back was perfect however and so was the holiday.
Does anyone have any advice about who I need to contact and whether I should be emailing or writing a letter etc?
Thanks.
Have booked the following for next year:
09/10/2010 10.30am - LGW to SFB
23/10/2010 17.05pm - SFB to LGW
I was just wondering if it's likely to be an ex FCA plane or is it too early to say?
Thanks
Ang
It's too early to know what aircraft are being based where and what flights they'll be operating as yet. It could change between now and then as well!! I would anticipate a former FCA aircraft, but it's too early to say.
Darren
Sorry to hear of your problems, I hope you had a great holiday though. Aircraft get swapped and changed, sometimes at short notice unfortunately. I would put everything in writing and send it off to customer services with whoever you booked with, eg First Choice or Thomson. Emails are too easily ignored (deleted) and you can't sign them so it's far better in the form of a letter detailing the nature of your complaint and what you would like them to do.
Darren
Thanks Darren
Just a quick note that G-OBYI is now in 328 Short Haul Config with seat back tv's, i believe only G-OBYJ is in long haul now.
I beleive that's correct. It was originally going to be G-OBYI that was kept in the 283 config, but G-OBJY is now the designated long-hauler.

D3ANO,
It's impossable to say this far out. Is it the TOM6661/2 you're on? G-CPEP is down there at the moment, I'm not sure which is partnering it. Aircraft types are the same as we've reported previously, both ex-FCA.
Darren
It Is Actually G-BYAU That Is Down In BRS With G-CPEP At The Moment, But It Is Unusualy For There To Be An ex BY There
Gower
Thanks for your help guys!!
