Hi there. We are flying from Glasgow to Puerta Plata on 26th of September (Flight No: TOM520) and were worried about not getting seats together. We have upgraded to premium and also asked to book specific seats on the plane - we have booked seats 1F and 1G and were wondering if these were good seats for legroom and also wondered if anyone knew where your TV would be as there is no seat in front? Also, do you know if this is an ex First Choice aircraft we will be flying on?

Thanks!

Tinks84,
Flight TOM520 will be operated on a ex-First Choice B767-300 aircraft. As you have selected the front seats your TV's will fold out from the seats. I would imagine they will be located in the middle of the seats and they sort of fold in to the space between your seats or from the arm rest. It will be one or the other because the tray table will have to fold out from somewhere. I am not 100% sure because I know some airlines put the TV's on the wall which separates the cabin from the crew area.

Hi z.j.c - thanks for your quick reply! Do you know if these seats are alright for legroom as I have read a few reviews saying they are not great as they are "bulkhead" seats?

Tinks84,
I can not be too sure on that as I have not flown on a ex-FCA 767's I was suppose to fly on one but the aircraft got changed due to maintenance issues. I would imagine though having seen a lot of pictures and from when I flew on a Thomson Configured 767 2 years ago the seats are one of the best on the aircraft for legroom. You will still get your 36" regardless but it will feel like you have a lot more space not having another seat directly infront of you. It would be my choice of seat if I was in the premium cabin (first for the meals, im a sucker for a good airplane meal)

Thanks z.j.c - I thought that aswell but was just slightly worried that a lot of people said there was no room to stretch your legs as there is no seat in front. Not even sure if they would let me change the seat numbers as I have booked them already.

Many thanks z.j.c - I didn't expect such a quick response!! I was a bit surprised to hear I'd be on A321s seeing as TOM are currently accepting wingleted 737-800s into their fleet on a fairly regular basis (they're probably going to be all-Boeing before too long... I'm actually surprised the Airbuses are still scheduled to be there for the winter season!), but it's nice to hear I should enjoy comfortable flights each way.

Cheers,

GK :)

Seats 1F & 1G are as you said bulk head seats not best IMHO TV are fold down on arm. If you go to Which Aircraft am I flying on - Thomson ex First Choice 767 -300 there are some photo's of the cabin there.

GoldenKnight / z.j.c,

The A321's were supposed to leave the FCA fleet last winter and return to the leassor. However, due to the demise of XL, there was greater demand for short-mid haul flights and they were therefore kept. I've not heard any plans as yet to return them. TOM have 15x 737-800's in their fleet and are due to receive their last new aircraft this month (G-FDZT), to complete their 16 aircraft line up.

Tinks84,

As mentioned above, row 1 on the ex-FCA 763's are bulkhead. They offer a bit more room infront of the seats, however this can restrict those with long legs as there's nothing to put them under like you have on normal seats. They are still fine, as long as you don't have long legs!

Tinks84,
Im sure the seats will be just as good. You can not really fault the First Choice 767's they did a excellent job when they refitted them.
Enjoy your flight and holiday.
Z.J.C

P.S Sorry I was slightly incorrect earlier I was thinking of different seats. :whoops

Majorca Was Lovely. Flights Were Also Very Good And I Was Pleased As I Got To Travel On Both An ex Thomsonfly And ex First Choice Boeing 757-200.

Outbound Flight (TOM7410) Was Operated By G-BYAL, Which After Pushback From The Stand At BHX Had A Problem With The Valve That Lets Air In To Start The Left Engine, So It Was Back Onto Stand For A Spot Of Maintenence, But Only Delayed The Departure By 20 Mins Which We Then Made Up In The Flight

Inbound Was Due To Be Operated By G-BYAH But That Had To Go Down To Luton. So We Had G-OOBA (with Winglets) Which Unfortunatly Had A 3hr Delay On It From A Previous Flight. Flight However Was Comfortable And We Made Up A Bit Of Time In Flight.

The New Recaro Seats On The ex Thomsonfly Are Nicer As It Gives You That Slight Bit More Room By Your Knees. The Safety Video Is Completly Different From What It Used To Be (Link To You Tube).

Thats All From That Holiday, So Until The Next One, I Hope Everybody Who Has Been On Holiday Allready This Summer Has Had A Great Time And That If Any Of You Are Still To Go Away You Enjoy It.
