Hi Darren,
Thanks so much for your reply, much appreciated.
Just phoned Thomson Airlines to try and book the 3 Exit Seats in row 32, to be told that I need to phone them back in May as I am too early to book them. However, I will persist and try again next week.
Kind regards,
Pat
Thanks, Darren.
Can anyone please advise what type of aircraft Thomson operate as I am going to sharm on Friday 29th June at 13.45pm... sorry no flight number to hand.
Hi Darren, would you know the aircraft type I will be travelling on the flight number is TOM494 / TOM495.
Welcome onboiard
I'm presuming you're flying from LGW on the 29th June to Sharm? If so, your flight number are TOM494/5 and it's operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER (short haul, 328Y). Refer to our What Aircraft? thread for more detials.
EDIT: Just seen your second post!
Darren
Hi Darren
You helped me out previously with regards Thomson Flight TOM416 BHX-LXR. on the 9th September returning 16th. The aircraft allocated was a 767 with premium seating but I have received notification from Thomson that Premium is no longer available - even though I had booked and paid for 4 seats. Do you know if the aircraft has been changed?
Many thanks
Gary
It's way too early to know what the specifics of your flight are other than aircraft type at the moment. The schedule is showing a Boeing 767-304/ER. I suspected it'll be a 328Y with no premium cabin. I'll know more after May.
Darren
A totally new experience for us will be travelling with a young baby (just 3 months old!!) - are Thomson accommodating / helpful? What's the deal with travel cots? What are the chances of being allocated window seats (can we pre book as it's ex Thom?) - a bit more privacy for breast feeding?! Thanks.
LGW-MBJ-LGW (TOM030/1) are indeed operated by an ex-Thomsonfly aircraft. There isn't much difference in terms of cabin facilities or the level of service. The main difference is the colour scheme (dark blue leather) and there's less elbow room with it being 8-abreast rather than 7. Seat pitches are the same (premium has 1" extra). You can still upgrade to the premium IFE for £5. The cabin crew will help with the baby where they can, just ask. You can take a travel cot, but that will be included in your luggage allowance. You can pre-book the use of a cot at some hotels (more here). At present, you can't select your seat. However, it is anticipated this facility will be re-introduced from May once all the systems have been alligned following the merger. Just give them a call 6 weeks before your flight departs (from May) and you should be able to select your seat.
Darren
As per usual - thanks for prompt reply.
I don't think I'm using the right words (!) - when I said travel cots I meant the little plastic ones that I've seen on scheduled flights (and Monarch!!) that clip into the bulkheads. I know they're not on FCA as all they don't really have any bulkhead seats or they're exit rows that the little 3 month old won't be able to open in an emergency!!!!
They don't have that facility either for travel cots as far as i know for the same reason as the ex-FCA aircraft.

Since Rebranding from ThomsonFly to Thomson Airways. I wonder are they planning on changing the livery on all the aircraft. If so how imaginative will they get ?
No change from the current Thomsonfly one. Tui have a standardised livery across their airlines, they are quite boring in that respect. The only change, for the time being at least is the removal of the 'fly' from Thomsonfly to leave a basic 'Thomson' livery on some aircraft. The ex-FCA aircraft will get the Thomson Airways livery as and when they are in for heavy maintenance.
Darren
yeh dazza i reckon thats as imaginative as Thomson will get. Although, it would be nice for them to just go crazy and surprise us. I heard rumours that the ex FCA aircraft where to be all painted up in the new livery by may. Ive also seing that Thomson have orders for the new Boeing (Dreamliner), I believe it was FCA that placed the orders back in 2006.
Thomson Airways (acquired from first Choice) are the european lauch customer for the Boeing 787 and are expected to get them ready for May 2010. That all depends on how Boeing get on as there's been several delays and it hasn't completed it's maiden flight as yet. They should have started to receive them this month. There's no chance Tui will ever give us a special livery! They originally wanted to give us a bright yellow upper fuselage, but they'd look hideous. No chance of all the ex-FCA's being in the TOM livery by May. It'll be a while yet.
Darren
Are the ex FCA in operation with the First Choice livery through the winter season ? Or are they expected to commence opperation in may when the tour opperator becomes busier ?
Most of the ex-FCA aircraft remained in the UK for winter operations (A320, A321, B767), some (757's) were leased out to other operators; Sky Service. These returned at the beginning of the month ready for the summer season.
Darren
Thank you for the information Darren, have a great weekend.
It will be baby on lap, unless you choose to pay for another seat and then you can take your car seat on board.
