has anyone stayed at this hotel or know how central it is to everything?
its our first time in Goa, we want to stay in Calungate as we're only there for 10 days and so want to be central for everything, the beach etc, advice appreciated - thanks
The location of the Ticlo is great, right on the Baga road and really central for everything but we got a lousy room and at that time of year it was too busy to change.
what exactly was wrong with the room?
I'd forgotten all about that, thanks Kath.

I've always booked with Direct Holidays for this hotel because it was one of the cheapest 3 week deals I could find. I found the rooms around the pool to be fine but those towards the back behind the pool area, well some not that nice and in need of upgrade. So here's my problem with the Ticlo now. The DH contract with the hotel ended and Thomsons took over. Initially there was no refurbishment of the hotel but Thomsons hiked the prices up by around £250. If I was going to Goa for the first time and had booked with Thomsons I would have been disappointed with this accomodation. There are far better hotels that you could choose from in the price bracket that they have put the Ticlo in. The hotel is now being refurbished in phases. The pool area has been completed and the exterior of the hotel painted - can't comment on how they are getting on with the rooms though. One last thing is the staff. Most have worked there years and I've always found them really friendly and helpful.
