Meant to add that if you intend to take a cruise you should now tell your Insurance Company. They've realised another way to make money is to charge extra for this cover!!! To be fair, however, the extra cost is minimal and when you think of what could go wrong with a cruise from delayed flights leading to missing embarkation, all the different countries you visit, etc, etc, it's probably worth it.
I'd never thought of mentioning it before, and we have cruised a few times, but on another website I've been following the trials and tribulations of people who thought they were covered but were not, so make sure you're covered.
I'll drop into the Cruises Forum and tell people there.
Although obviously advisable but my daughter is flying with Ryan Air to Italy for a few days, her european card is not in date and she hasn't any insurance at this stage. Can she fly without it? I thought everyone had to have it to fly nowadays.
Package holiday companies require it as part of their T&C's however for flight or hotel booked independently there is no require for it.
She can fly without insurance, but I would suggest that she gets some before she goes, unless she's got a bottomless bank balance.
We have an annual policy which runs out in a couple of weeks. We have already booked a flight for next Spring and have paid a deposit on an apartment. Now, if we change to a new policy provider, which insurer covers any potential cancellation? I know, I'm being thick but.......
I think your existing provider will cover you up to when the policy runs out then the new provider cuts in, just make certain they do not overlap, probably the best thing to do would be obtain confirmation from your new provider
good luck
I've decided that I'm going to let the annual policy lapse... I will then immediately book a single trip policy to cover the skiing trip next Spring....it makes financial sense as we won't get value from an annual policy in the next 12 months anyway due to imminent arrivals of grandchildren!!
On the insurance have you thought about your bank account the one I have gives us both annual cover world wide for £10 per month and you get better interest on your savings and other things like car recovery.
@rogerdodger - I thought about upgrading to a packaged account about 5 years ago...... but our then "main" bank wouldn't cover our pre existing medical conditions plus we get all singing, all dancing breakdown cover on two cars for ~ £9 per month -don't know whether the medical issue still applies but I wouldn't want to switch accounts again having just moved to Santander 123 to get 3% interest and DD cashback.
Can anyone recommend a company who will offer insurance for someone with high cholesterol for a 90 day trip? Thanks.
InsureandGo in Southend cover our pre existings for a good price Tel 0844888 1587
Thanks a million hbrac. I have spent hours today trying to find decent insurance at a good price. I should have asked on here in the first place. Have now arranged it all. I have only just been diagnosed with high cholesterol and thought I was going to have to pay a high price for it literally! Once again, thank you very much. I can enjoy the rest of my evening now, going to have a stiff drink.
Glad you are sorted. I first took insurance with them after a cancer op and all the quotes from other companies including specialist cancer insurers were either sky high or they wouldn't insure me. Insureandgo gave me a very reasonable quote. As a family, we have lots of pre existings and some they dismiss with no excess to be paid.Anyway, enjoy your evening !
Anyone who relies on the insurance cover included with their bank account might like to take a look at this article.
I'm going to check with our Nationwide travel insurance. Hubby has pre existing medical problems, diabetes & HBP, both controled with meds. We declared them to the Nationwide insurers who said they didn't cover pre existing illnesses so we took out seperate cover elsewhere for him.
Your article has pointed out that I may not be covered if he can't travel. 😵
Unfortunately I now have to find insurance for my next holiday and I not looking forward to it. I had a heart attack. Heart is undamaged but I have a stent now.
Fiona have you tried Avanti, I have several medical conditions, including heart and I have declared all conditions and have cover, might be worth giving them a shot.
Thanks Miss Pink. I haven't started looking yet but already had a holiday to Boston booked for October. I am going to leave it until I am out of this "doing virtually nothing" phase but wanted to start by getting recommendations.
OK no problem Fiona. Don't forget if you have booked something already, travel insurance should be next on the list otherwise you are at risk, if you have to cancel the holiday you have nothing in place to cover this - so insurance should be in place as soon as the booking is done (i'm sure you know that)x
I think I need to just get on with it- its knocked my confidence a bit!
