Has anyone used MEDICI TRAVEL INSURANCE please?
Karena
In reply to your question I have used Medici for five holidays since I had cancer in 2008.
I tried lots of companies, recommended on HT, but they were by far the most competitive for the total insurance cover which I wanted. I shall continue to use them,
I have to admit I have no experience of how they handle claims.

.I would be helpful if member did post their experiences of claiming and named the companies concerned
When I had to claim for a cancelled holiday when the cancer was diagnosed we were with AA Insurance and it was dealt with very satisfactorily.

I called Medici this morning, apparently colombus direct are the same company and offer exactly the same cover, I believe they are cheaper than Medici. Thanks for you response.
I have been looking for a good insurance company for our holiday in October to Majorca, I normally use essential travel, but I have just checked and they now want an extra £25, I have type 2 diabetes which is under control with a couple of pills per day (in fact it wouldn't affect me to much if i do not take them). When I called essential they said that it was because of my diabetes, when I told her that I have used them last year and last month and nothing has changed, the woman said well if you want insurance with us you have to pay the extra. I have had a quote from UIA, but it does not ask what your medical condition is, I emailed them but had no reply.
Any other ideas.
Thanks
Alan
ive always use insure and go, no extra for my young ones colostomy and epilepsy £53 for 5 people bargin
Hi Alan ... there is a list of recommended insurers on page 1 of this topic. However, if you try the search box in the bottom left hand corner of the topic using keyword diabetes, it should retrieve previous member recommendations specifically for that condition.
If we are delayed by say 2 days on hour holiday what happens? Does the TO (Thomas Cook) refund the nights missed, due you have to claim of your insurance or is it just tough luck?
Never been in this situation and I am really hoping that they call the strike off.
It makes me soo mad when you skimp and save all year for a holiday to have it messed up by somebody going on strike!!
If you were delayed going out I would think that it would be a matter for your insurance although it doesn't ususally kick in until 12 hour delay.
So simple now you've explained it Sunaddict - thank you. Have my pre-holiday head on at mo - can't think straight - it's worse than when I was pregnant!!
My wife is diabetic with various other complications and we used Columbus Direct. The medical screening is done online (saves a phone call), was very straight forward and the price was good too. 16% quidco available as well.
UIA did eventually email me back and have quoted £12.30 for 9 days premium cover, this covers must medical conditions, no other insurance company can come close so after checking all the small print with my sister in law who is an insurance clerk I purchased from them and this morning the documents arrived by post, whats best is that should I need to cancel between now and our hols (8 weeks) they will pay out as long as it is for a genuine reason.
i would like to book a holiday in tenerife for my self and hubby for next year but have a dilema, hubby has heart condition (two years since ha) but has gone under tests recently we are still awaiting the results (so far 21days waiting). it may not be his heart we have been told. i have pre- exhisting conditions too. the hotel we want to book is popular and i don't want to miss out so should we just put our deposit down and arrange insurance when we get results of tests. my hubby is worried about this. i think we would just lose the deposit if we booked the hotel just now and no one says you have to take out insurance at the moment you book your holiday. advice would be appreciated please, thank you xphx
you should book your Insurance as soon as or at the same time you book your holiday, you can get insurance for pr-existing problems but it may cost a few bob, but still not as much as you will loose if for any reason you cant go, if you look at page 1 we have a list of member recommended insurers or also look back through the pages to see who has insured with whom to cover current problems
thanks wizard, it is just we are waiting for a diagnosis before we can truthfully say what the problem is, looks like hubby is right and we shall wait. i usually book in august as we only fly from aberdeen which means the flights go quickly. i am usually a get organised quick person but will have to have patience and a bit of luck. thanks again xphx
No insurance company will cover an undiagnosed condition. Once you have the results you will then be able to get quotes, but remember to declare that he has had tests.
. Anyone got any good insurance for Multi trip which would include Mexico
Hi bejay ... unless you particularly need to phone them, such as to declare a pre existing illness for example, then you can apply for an online quote via the links on page 1 of this topic.
Thanks, just gone with Boots, who we usually go with.
booked tenerife holiday, and will book insurance asap when results come through will declare all tests and health conditions thaks to you all for your posts. xphx
has anyone used "delta" listed on the first page of this thread? they seem reasonable for good cover.
