Hi,sorry but I can't see the comparison, unless you are referring to a different post,we were a party of six,I've just been told by my son that it was Yessir restaurant, not Brothers.
Cheapest meal we had would be at Harry Rams, together with one round of drinks the bill came to 42TL, the most expensive was at the Harmony, however we were there for 4 hours and the bill came to 138TL, with the £ = 2.42TL while there this worked out at £17.35 and £57 respectively
Regarding the holiday this year it works out at £20.70 per person per day, that includes flight, private transfers, accomodation, air conditioning, and safe, this compares with £20.14 per person per day staying at Pontins in Somerset, simple decision for me.
There are some families we know who thought they could not afford to go abroad on holiday during the school holidays so have used the likes of Pontins, Haven etc, last year after explaining DIY holidays instead of using the big tour operators some of them went to Turkey and have now booked again for this year.

Food in the supermarkets isn't much less than UK but you can get fruit and veg in the market fairly cheap. Petrol is more than UK and car hire isn't cheap.
The people who write these articles will probably never have been to Turkey ,or if they have they will have been on all expenses paid trips so they can publish this rubbbish .They will never have tried different places to eat or drink ,I prefer to rely on my own experience and the advise of trusted and reliable reports from HT members.
and stating that due to the fact that bookings to the country have risen by 40% over the past 12 months, the result has been a huge increase in the prices resorts are charging for holiday basics such as eating out
Why would restaurants be charging more when with a 40% increase they will be having a bumper season anyway? We've been numerous times in high season before & paid the same prices as friends that were out there in June or September.
As others have said 2 people can eat dinner for £10 or £100 pounds out there, depending where they choose to eat, how many courses they want & most importantly..........what they choose to drink over dinner. We're out there again in August & even without a crystal ball I can guarantee that we'll spend less than if we were spending a fortnight in the Canaries/Balearics etc.
We love Cyprus, and have visited most places around Europe with the kids, but like most places in Europe now the Euro has changed things dramatically in terms of self catering. We considered Turkey for the first time and after doing a bit of homework the 5 of us paid a fraction under £1700 for 21 nights s/c in August, including flights and transfers, that is about £340 each for 21 night or,about £16.20 pp,per day. Now we dont know what to expect other than the feedback we have received on here about the Golden Orange 2 apartments and Armutalan, but the point is,where can you get that in most other countrys in Europe in August, let alone with the kinda weather, hospitality and welcome we are hopefully expecting in Turkey ?
With Turkey having a 'captive market' I would bet any amount the prices will go up. It's human nature to make a bit of extra money. Can't imagine the Turks will look a gift horse in the mouth. BTW Rotterdam my work colleague stayed at the Golden Orange last year and had a great time.
Example: My husband had a turkish shave and I had a manicure and pedicure for £ 20 the lot.
I would recommend finding out first how much a haircut will cost, I finished up paying 30 liras in Bitez last year, mind you it did include a waxing on the nose!
Been looking all afternoon for a reasonably priced holiday to Turkey (both DIY and tour op). Failed miserably. Was only looking because it's a eurofree zone but I think it might be Corfu. Good timed flights are at least £100 cheaper than Turkey and, personally, I'm happier spending my money in Greece (keep reading all the horror stories of being hassled constantly).
Ach well, at least all those who are moaning about being "put off" Turkey will leave more of it for the rest of us to enjoy!
Just Say No Thanks Mate. Then ignore them. If you let them bother you that much then you must be a very weak person. I certainly would tell them to go away and if they didnt, I would resort to a few choice words. Normally works for me. Certainly wouldnt ruin my holiday or indeed make me book another country.
Have fun
Being hastled is part of going away espially to the likes of Turkey, Egypt, Morrocco, Tunisia. If you dont want to buy anything, Have fun
no thanks ive already eaten always works .polite but firm.oulideniz is hassel free compared to marmaris .
The only person who spoke to us was a man in the leather shop where my husband bought a jacket in 1993!
no thanks ive already eaten always works
never worked for us in Gumbet a few years ago. They kept asking us to look at the menu ready for 'another time'
We have never had any hassle in Gumbet but even if they asked you to look at the menu for another time I'm sure no thanks would be enough.
I don't call it hassle, I call it friendly banter, sometimes they want a chat it doesn't always mean you have to go to their bar/restaurant, you do have a choice. I personally like this aspect as we have met(and kept in touch with) lots more people in Turkey than anywhere else we have been. That has been my experience so far.
Is it so hard for them to understand though that some couples just want to wonder and chat amongst themselves in peace and quiet As you say Kedi, a simple no thanks does work eventually but then you're at the next place with another person invading your space and conversation. Anyway, my experience of Gumbet was 7 years ago and from what I hear things have changed. I'm really looking forward to my second visit to Turkey in the summer and am not going to let the hassle/banter spoil it for me
I think of it as banter too, yes you do get that in Gumbet but not real hassle. I guess it is all part of the Turkey experience, although you don' get all that in non-tourist towns so it isn't really part of Turkish culture, just tourist culture.
