In terms of pure scenic location Turunc outscores Kalkan in my opinion - and I'm very fond of Kalkan. We've been four times.

The area is much greener, and the mountainous backdrop is quite spectacular.

Funnily enough I have just been trying to "sell" Turunc to a colleague who is having difficulty deciding where to go on holiday this year.

She's a bit of a five-star only chick, and I'm trying to convince her that the Dionysis (sic?) is up-her-street. Unfortunately her only experience of Turkey was a late availability to Altinkum ten years ago which she absolutely hated, and she's refused to consdider Turkey since.

Anyway, back to the subject.

Restaurants were of a very good standard in Turunc when we went , but there isn't as wide a range of choice as you'll find in Kalkan.

Hi Anna,
Icmeler is my resort, but I visit Turunc twice a year.
Its a beautifull resort and one of the best apartment blocks has got to be the Es apartments, they are bookable through John Toohey, you will see his name on the forum with a link to thier website, they will also give you a contact for flights and also take care of the transfare to and from the airport.
The Es overlooks the bay and has fantastic views.

Hi Annat,
Turunc is beautiful and the surrounding area is spectacular. Grab a car for a couple of days and tour the bozburun peninsula. You will not be disappointed.

We are going to our apartment in Turunc on Friday, we are hiring a car for the first time, as we haven't yet had a chance to get off the beaten track (The apartment was only finished last year). As we are only there a few days we want to make the most of it, can you recommend which villages are particularly worth visiting? Do you know of any circular walks we can do in the Bozburn peninsula area, with somewhere preferably by a bar, where we can leave the car and return to it.
Thanks in advance for your help!

8) ALFI.. i'm sure CHELSEA BOY will answer your post and that he knows the area better than me but just to help a little we visited a place called ORHANIYE and stayed at a small restaurant called BURAK for lunch before having a walk to the small beach of TURGUT where there was a small resturant on the beach ..both of these places provided free sunbeds and the hospitality was first class.its about 45 min. drive from TURUNC and like CHELSEA BOY said a beautiful place to visit...some info on the area can be found by visiting Exclusive escapes on line brochure @ http://www.hiddenturkey.com and going to the appropriate page... (prices are frightening but good brochure) hope it's helpful .. SHEILA... :ghug

We stayed at the Mulberry Tree at Turgut last May - absolutely stunning scenery around there, but don't go if you're looking for nightlife!!

We've been drooling over our Exclusives Escapes brouchure for several weeks now. The main problem we've got is deciding where we wouldn't like to go.

Rich C.. like you we stayed at the MULBERY TREE agree it's a stunning place (apart from the HONEY BEES... stung twice) but as you said not much to do in the evening.... even so hope you can back me up.. ALFIE will love it for a day trip out from TURUNC... :ghug

Thanks for the replies. We also look at those brochures and websites and have read about the places mentioned, but its always good to get personal recommendations of the places people particularly liked. Reckon we'll try to go to Orhaniye and Turgut, hopefully the restaurants will be open, but I think its doubtful at this time of year - maybe we might have to pack some sarnies! We haven't been to Turkey so early before so we are expecting the spring flowers to make it all the more stunning!

Hi Anna, we,ve been to Turunc three times and loved it. We flew with direct holidays this past 2 years, and their prices were the cheapest. We organised transfers from Dalaman to Turunc through one of the local agents-about £80 return. We stayed in Gozdem 1 and Gozdem 2, and can recommend them both. Friends satyed in Ozcan apartments, and recommend them also. The Es look good but the pool is a bit on the small side BUT the restaurant is excellent, and the view from there is out of this world. Whatever you choose you will love Turunc, so long as you aren't looking for all night raves

Hi Alfie,
zipped over to Selimiye the other day and most of the resaurants were tarting themselves up ready for action, so you should be ok. If you want a list of restaurants on the Boz give me a pm

just read your post on Selimyie can you get ther from Turunc or do you have to go into Marmaris first , Do you know if the dolomus are regular and how much . thanks for your help i i know you will

Marmaris first i think. I dont know if there is a dolly to Bayir and then to selimiye. This would be the quickest way..... be brave and hire a car. the roads are good on the peninsula and not that crowded. Just be aware of ****** jeeps safaris hahahah

Hi
Lindie, If you like to get from Turunc to selimiye or to further villages, you have to Marmaris at first. The other option is to hire a car like like chelsea boy recommended.

Hi, hubby and I are going to Turunc next year for 2 weeks self-catering.

Can anyone who has been there tell me if there is an ATM in Turunc and also, is there a supermarket or will we have to go to another resort to shop for supplies?

We are also considering hiring a car for just a couple of days or so and would appreciate if anyone could tell us where the best place is to hire from.

Any other info on Turunc would be great. I have done a search on the forum but can't find much.

We went to Marmaris in 2004 and were very tempted to go there again but decided that there must be lots of other places in Turkey to visit.

Cheers
Rowdy.
