We all know this is the tip of the iceberg, only a matter of time before the RP breaks up. No one cares about the effect this will have on local businesses.
Palm and Sands has lost the remaining garden and eroded to the metal stair structure and has closed for business, normally open all year round.
Oh this thread is devastating ...we spent a lot of time at palm and sands this season.... very sad
thanks for the pics split and sfelts really brings it home

the pictures tell more than any words can. ( now I see which photos you meant sfelts )
Another update from NT (No not the New Testament), but the Nav Times, they have similar photo's on page 7, and mention that the sand bags had a 20 year guarantee and now after only 2 months the bags have split and the sand has ashed away to the sea, one flaw in the report, the picture they say is a look out tower of Marquis beach resort, is in fact the upstair drinking/dining area of Palm and Sands as in my previous photo's, so what next, watch this space?.
Such a shock to see the devastation at the Shiroda (MB) went to a wedding reception there last November. Sadly though, I'm not really surprised.

It looks as if we are now entering the end game in this sorry saga. The next big event will be when the R.P. breaks up as she surely will any monsoon now. the time for any removal is long gone. When the break up happens, anyone care to make a guess how long the next step, the cutting up and removal will take ? Going on their track record in this I'd hazard a guess, that they will simply allow time and the monsoons to do it for them. Even if by some miracle they did cut it up and remove it, it's now too late to save Sinquerm beach, the entire shape of the beach has now been changed and each succeeding monsoon will cause more and more erosion. Attemps to halt this, building sea walls and "sand Tubes etc, are no answer to the power of the sea. Alan

Hi I'm new to this forum but not to Goa.We are going 1st November and it is sad to see whats happening to the beach at Sinquerim. We are staying at the Lui Beach which i think is just behind the beach. It's our first time staying down that end of Candolim. Will post a report when we get back on how things are when we get back.
to the forum
I've never been to this beach, but even to me, it's shocking. The image we have of Goa's beaches are stretches of golden sands, this looks more like a building site. I feel sorry for all the people who made a living on this stretch of beach.
Has the Calamari shack which belongs to the Santana Hotel been affected? In March it appeared to be teetering on the edge, with lots of sandbags in place.
The Kalamari shack is still just surviving, plenty of their own sand bags have helped, but they are talking about moving back 20-30 metres as they own the land they are part of the Santana hotel so should be ok for now, which is the best answer I can come up with, after witnessing so much destruction in such a short space of time, we came here 15 years ago, everything was fine until, Cocoa beach, the day trips, they have stopped now, Sinquerim beach is heading the same way Im afraid, where will it end, some are talking of the erosion continuing to go towards Candolim and Calangute and Baga Beache's and that is what Goa has always been popular for, the golden sandy beach'es.
every year all the beaches from Sinquerm right along to the Baga River change a bit after the monsoon, sometimes they are a bit steeper other times a different section is flatter than before. What's happened in Sinquerm is different, and a direct result of the changes brought about by the R.P, and that beach is gone for good because of it. I dont think the damage will move much further along the coast, but time alone will tell Alan
Hi I'm just wondering if theres any more pictures of Sinquiem Beach and if it's got any worse.
I havent took any more pictures lately, things seem same as last time, no more severe damage but past 2 weeks have been mainly sunshine the monsoon rain has eased, will keep an eye on things if anything significant happens, I will take photo's and report back, one positive side Palm and Sands resataurant is back open again but only the main front enterance no more garden or sunset point.
thanks sfelts pleased you got some sunshine just wish we had.
