Hi Marion,
Thanks for the pricelist for the gym and spa. The spa looks a lot more reasonable than the gym - I quite like the look of some of the treatments. As the gym's rather pricey I may just have to lie around the place instead! We're staying in a vip maisonette in August -(thanks for the pics of the pools.) - really looking forward to it.
Just one more question - Was there any Greek food?
Thanks a lot and I'm glad you had a good holiday.

Hi Sue

Yes, some Greek food and the yogurt was delicious. But the moussaka looked more like a quiche to me.

Have a great time, Marion

hello,

On the vasia beach website it advises there is a mini pc and internet acess in the rooms.

Can you use the mini pc to acess the internet or is the internet acess just a "point" where you can plug your own laptop in ?

also is there any charge for the internet?

As I've said, we stayed at the Palm Beach paid for by Vasia. We had a PC with Linux (not Windows) which was (supposed to be) connected all the time to the internet... you just launched the browser... in this case, we had Firefox.

It also had some games available eg solitaire.

I believe it is supposed to be chargeable, but the program hadn't been written.

Whether this all applies to the main Vasia rooms, I don't know.

There are two Windows PCs, also online permanently, in the foyer near reception. These are totally free to use. We only had to wait a couple of time to use them. Teenagers tend to use them for messaging and I soon kicked them off. :)

Hi M & M can I ask why you stayed at the Palm instead of Vasia Beach?

Hi Alexie

Vasia messed up our reservation in that we needed twin beds, not a double. And they were full.

Please read this other thread about the Vasia... http://holidayforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=74229 where I posted:

I've now updated my personal page for Crete - Sisi with links to the photos

I've also scanned the Spa pricelist as a PDF. I didn't see the gym, but the spa facilities looked very good eg a large thalassotherapy pool with sauna and jacuzzi.

And I've written a review

Phew... Hope this helps you all. Any more questions, just ask.

Thanks Marion, I have read your reviews and looked at the pics, we are staying in one of the VIP Maisonettes but from your photos they look quite
strange, does each maisonette have it's own pool and lounger with canopy? Also it looks like the hotel is in the middle of nowhere is this the case or can you walk into Sissi?

Thanks for your help but as you can imagine we have been a bit concerned as the hotel has had some bad reviews and the pics i have seen so far don't look anything like the ones they are showing on there website. We will be there in two weeks time!

Hi Kim

There seem to be two blocks of five VIP maisonettes facing each other. Each has its own patio, then a pool, then the canopied lounger which backs onto the canopied lounger of the maisonette opposite. And there is a balcony on the first floor. (Mediterranean maisonettes are two-storey houses, usually terraced as in the photo.)

There's tavernas, pubs, car hire, a gift shop, a good supermarket and other hotels within five minutes walk of Vasia.

This is an old photo. The Vasia is in the right hand corner. You can see the road going down to the harbour area from a third down the right hand side. It is quite steep. We didn't try walking it as it was too hot and seemed too far. We drove there - two coffees cost €5.

That's why I recommend the Happy Train at €6pp - takes an hour in the evening to rumble around the area. It gives you a good insight into the locality.

The hotel website is definitely pre-refurb and expansion and gives a very good, but misleading, impression. Vasia have got an excellent marketing team!

We did feel conned, but came home having had a wonderful, relaxing holiday. And for the price (£369pp), it was good value.

Hi Marion,

Thanks so much for all your trouble, my husband says I must stop looking and reading the reviews because I am becoming obsessed. We haven't had a holiday for two years and we where looking forward to going as it all looked fantastic. We have always been very lucky with Al Inclusive but have two daughters 14 and 17 and hope there will be enough for them to do.

Thanks again for all your help, will let you know what we thought on our return.

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Vasia Beach hotel.
It was not the best All Inclusive hotel we have stayed in but I think as this is the first year as an All Inclusive property it can only get better. The staff are lovely and really helpful.
We stayed in one of the VIP Maisonettes and it was beautiful, loads of space with your own pool, great fun if you have smaller children or just like the seclusion. I had two teenage girls aged 14 and 17 the 14 year old made lots of friends and found plenty to do but the 17 year old was lost in the evenings, unless you go with someone of your own age there is not alot for the over 16's to do.
The food was ok, not brilliant at times but you could always find something to eat, to be honest i think when you are All Inc you feel you must eat three times a day when in fact at home you would just have a sandwich or somthing small at lunchtime so I think you eat for the sake of eating and not because you are hungry. The BBQ on Wednsday evening was great. The snack bar had a variety of snacks available from 10.00 until 6.00 each day and coffee and cakes at five.
The animation team where great they tried really hard to make everyone happy with shows, karoke, games and tropical parties, after the shows had finished would go round and mingle with everyone. They all worked really hard.
Sissi is a small fishing villiage with a little harbour about 10 minutes stroll from the complex lovely to walk down to in the evening after your meal.
Malia is about 15 minutes away by taxi.
All in all we had a good holiday, we met lots of nice people from around the country.

Hi Alexie

I am off to vasia at the end of the month and have also booked a vip maisonette with pool. Do you happen to have any pictures of the maisonette and do you think it was worth the extra money. I was a bit disappointed to see the picture posted by M_& _M as they don't look very private. We are 3 adults and two children, are they generously spacious.

Any further info you can provide especially with regards to the layout would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Sorry, I don't have any pics at the moment to show you will post them ASAP. The photo shown does not really do them justice. The pools are close together but they are bigger than they look. The lounger with the canopy is also quite large and really nice.

The maisonettes are beautiful you walk through the front door and your downstairs bathroom is on the left then to the right is a spiral staircase next to the staircase you have a fridge and a coffee table. as you walk through into the next area you have twin beds a dressing table, wardrobe, bedside tables, flat screen TV/computer. Patio doors opening up onto your patio area with your pool, sun loungers, etc.

Upstairs is enormous with another bathroom which has a corner bath and jacuzzi, seperate shower, large sink, hairdryer which works perfectly you will not need to take another one. There is a queen size bed, bedside tables, dressing table, wardrobe and patio doors which open up onto an upstairs balcony. Air conditioning which is excellent. Towels are changed every other day and when you arrive ask for towels for the pool (they are dark blue) and they will give you one of these for each person which again are changed every other day if you leave them out. You must return them at the end of your holiday otherwise you will be charged for them.

We were lucky and given an upgrade to the maisonettes as we had booked two twin rooms and had two teenage daughters we wanted the rooms next to each other but they couldn't guarantee this. Not sure how much extra you would have paid. Who did you book through as I haven't seen the maisonettes advertised with any of the tour operators.

Let me know if you want to know anything else.

Hi, I'm new member, just came across this site, very impressed.

We are going to Vasia Beach Hotel on Sunday for a week, stopping in a Suite All Inclusive.

I feel re-assured now after reading recent reviews and we are really looking forward to going - it will be our first time to any Greek island !

Will post with some photos and reviews as soon as get back.

Hi Alexie

Thanks for taking the time to reply - I feel more reassured now.

I read a review somewhere that they only serve all-inclusive drinks in 150ml paper cups and not glasses, is that true????

Hi everyone.
We've just returned from a week at the Vasia in a VIP maisonette and we really enjoyed ourselves. We found the private pool well worth paying for as the main pools were quite busy and it was like having another room, which is appreciated when travelling with teenagers! The only drawback was that 3 beds made the downstairs room a little crowded but really everything else was fabulous.

I read a review about the plastic cups but it was fine. The pool bar only serves drinks from plastic cups - for health and safety reasons I imagine. However at lunchtime (13.00 - 14.30) you can help yourself to draught soft drinks, water, beer (quite nice) and wine in glasses. Also at 6.00pm the lobby bar which was fairly quiet and very comfortable, opens so you are only stuck with paper cups in the daytime, not including lunchtime and that wasn't a problem for us.

We liked the food and found that there was a huge variety of different dishes, even for the fussier members of our family. We would go again for a chilled week and I would definately book more spa treatments next time. We found that the gym was free for hotel guests and that was very good -all new and very modern design.
