Hi Guys...Have just tried to find out from a Visa service whether Swiss nationals need a visa for Egypt and whether or not they can get one on arrival in Sharm. Have been informed by them that the Egyptian Consulate has said that all nationals are advised to obtain a visa prior to departing...please let me know if you are still able to get a visa on arrival (if you are British) and also, does anyone know if swiss nationals can also get a visa on arrival?
Thanks

British visitors can get a visa on arrival - but don't strictly need one for visits up to 2 weeks to the Gulf of Aqaba coast (Sharm & north) still. It seems variuos peolle, Egyptian consulate, some travel ops etc will say a Visa is strongly advised "just in case".

Foir Swiss nationals why not send a private message to Swisssinai in case he hasn't read these pages recently? Surely he'll know the answer to this one!

Folks - I have just had an email from Egypt consulate. Swiss and Brit nationals are still able to obtain visas on arrival - the only reason I believe they ask that you try and obtain one prior to arrival is because of the queues at some of their ports of entry. Dont listen to your travel agent as I booked a friend and they kept saying 'you need your visa'...so I checked and told them according to embassy we dont! it is just another way to make big bucks. Of course, if you want to avoid a queue when you land...go for it but £15 versus whatever they are charging...heck even if it is only £20 with the travel agent...I will still have a fiver for a drink :P

Hello all, just got up. It is 9.30 isn't it? :(

When we arrived at Taba and got in the arrivals shack, notices have been put up on the walls.

Visas $15

They may be starting to sort themselves out.

... was it as easy as ever to not get one?

Just walked straight to the passport booth. No hassle.

Can you pay for Visas in sterling at Sharm Airport or does it have to be Egyptian pounds? Can you use cards? :?:

Ok guys .im sure ive told you a million times but im off for my 2nd trip to sharm next saturday :D . 2 of us dont need the visa and 3 do (diving ras mohammed) .

last year we were on a thomson package and were horded to the left to a big "thomsons -get your visa here desk" cant remember how much they were but they charged in english money and im sure we were done  . this year we are DIY and flying with XL. there were another two egypian kiosks to the side of the thomsons one, can you buy your visas there and if so what currency do they take and is it cheaper. im assuming it is £10 or US$ 15.

i bet this has already been answered somewhere but i cant find it.

Hi All
just to let everyone know u do not need a visa for Ras mohahmed trip.
I have been to Sharm 3 times now (in space of 1yr) . the last 2 times i have not got a visa as i only use 'visa stamp' to visit Cairo. In January I did this trip (ras mohahmed) and no one asked if i had a visa. I did not book with a tour operator i booked with a tour guide (Red Sea Star) in Naama Bay, there are loads just walk along the promanade (walkway by beach) and u will see enough , do not book with anyone who tells u otherwise.
Hope this helps x Enjoy !! :D
But 1 thing i don't know if this goes for divers also ?? i just snorkelled
*Edit to remove bold text......please could you also not use phone text as per T&C thanks Briar

I thought...
Passports with kids on are fine until the child reaches 16, or the passprot expires - then they need their own.

i'm sure all kids need their own passport now doesn't matter how old they are
