Hi

Don't know where you got your info on the current weather but my brother (who lives in Cala Bona) telephoned on Thursday night and his girlfriend told me that the idiot had got sunburn on his back from being sat outside a bar too long

I'm sure you'll get better weather than we've got here - have fun
Reply
Thats great, not that he got sunburnt

Every weather site I have looked at says showers and not very warm low 60's
You have made me feel much better about going now, still don't no what to pack

Basically pack for every possibility in early March.

Tippi's right. It has been amazing here, but it's started to rain today.

It's almost impossible to predict how the weather will be at the time you're coming.

Will we need heavy winter coats at night?
We have booked half board into a hotel just incase the weather is bad so don't have to go out unless we want to.
They have an indoor pool a bar and some evening entertainment.
So if it is very bad we should be O.K .

No, heavy coats shouldn't be necessary. Woollens, jackets for sure, but it would have to be pretty freakish to need much more. But rain, well yes it could.

On those weather forecasts - when it says low 60s, low 60s can still feel pretty warm here. That temperature would be about right for the time of year, though we have had it appreciably higher just recently.

Thank you for the info.
I don't really want to take loads as stuff as we are only going for the week.
I've got an idea of what to take now.

Even the U.K 's weather has had me stuck as what to wear this winter.

Hi Charlie

Andrew's right, the weather here for the past few weeks has been fantastic - a friend of mine said a thermometer on his terrace (admittedly in direct sunlight) last week registered 40 degrees centigrade!!!

The weather did break yesterday, when we got some much needed rain, and today the weather is a little cloudy, but it's still 16 degrees plus, probably about 16 degrees warmer than most of UK.

The truth is, you cannot accurately predict the weather more than 2 or 3 days ahead, so be prudent and bring a selection to cover most eventualities (leave the heavy coat at home) and relax  you'll have a great time.

Cheers

Hi Charlie,
Just read your post and am a bit baffled as to how you know the weather doesn't look too good for your holiday in Cala Bona which like ours is still a couple of weeks away. My wife and i are staying at the Alicia from the 1st March. It's many years since we last stayed in Cala Bona, which was also in March (at the start of the month). From memory we had some very pleasant and warm days but night time did call for the wearing of a coat. But it's certainly a big improvement on our British weather plus it should still be light of an evening at 6.50pm or thereabouts, which is always a bonus.

For the past 2 years in Feb/March we have stayed in Benidorm. It was very cold on each occasion until we came home around the 8th March and typically the weather improved. So much so that we could hear the crickets around the pool. Always a good sign when you hear them. In December just gone (Benidorm) we heard them virtually every day/night but the weather was exceptionally warm considering the time of year.

Enjoy your holiday in Cala Bona and let's keep our fingers crossed that we haven't chosen a month when the Spanish are delighted to see huge amounts of lluvia (Spanish for rain) falling on their country by the bucket full.

In the Soller area last February we had a lot of snow, while walking in Valldemossa it snowed and was cold but descending from the higher ground the sun came out and some road workers sat in their vests having their lunch. It does appear to be much warmer in the Palma Nova /Magaluf area. We are going again to Soller on Saturday and will be prepared for all eventuallities.

Hope you have a good holiday. The blossom should be in full bloom this time of year. I went many years ago in late Feb, the scenery was breathtaking. Make us jealous on your return. CBG

Thank you CBG,

I do appreciate your good wishes, try to get your Hubby to take his camera to the Soller Area, I know that you would enjoy it.

Best wishes.

Dave.

ps Thanks for letting me know about Tis, we do miss her on here.

The almond blossom is out now and this webcam is only a few miles south of Cala Bona so you can see the weather for yourself

I don't know what the weather will be like for my holiday.
The post was, the weather isn't looking to good, hope it picks up.

Meaning it's not looking to good on the forcast for the next few days.
I hope it picks up for when we are there.

And it looks like is as well at least for the next 10 days .

Charlie,
That's fine! I just wondered if you have found a site somewhere that was forecasting weeks ahead.

It'll be cracking the flags when we are there.

I just hope it's dry.
Nothing worse than rain on holiday.

So we can get out and have a look around .
We have never stayed there before.
I'm looking forward to it.
Not the sun worshipper I used to be.
But a bit of the warm stuff would be nice.

Charlie,
It's a long time since we were there. Even Cala Millor was a bit of a quiet spot then, but both places Cala Bona and Millor seem to have developed quite a bit over the years. But I don't mind that because both places, from memory, are a bit out of the way.

If you have never visited the Caves of Drach they are well worth seeing and they are not too far away. My wife and i hired a bike each and that was good fun, but we've hired a car this time. She still remembers how we walked along the beach in early March paddling in the sea and the air being pleasantly warm. It's a nice introduction to the Spring, whatever the weather.
