For those people who have not been to Benidorm before, you may be wondering what it can offer you. Well, for a start there are over 38.000 Beds to be found in Hotels, Apatments and Guest Houses so you have a very wide choice from which to take your pick. All Inclusive, Full Board, Half Board, Self Catering whichever you prefer you haver a choice.
Then Benidorm can boast four Theme Parks, Aqualandia which was one of Benidorms first ever Water Parks, then right next door you have Mundomar....not a 'Theme Park as such as there are no rides to speak of, more of a small Exotic Animal Kingdom but well worth a visit and within easy reach of the main Resort. Then there is Terra Mittica which is Benidorm's Number 1 Theme Park with all sorts of rides and attractions and some very good Shows. Within close proximity to Terra Mittica, Benidorm has recentley opened its latest offering....Terra Natura which is a sort of cross between a Theme Park and a Zoo.
If you are self catering or half board, or just want to eat out on the odd day here and there, well you have a choice of almost 280 Cafes and 330 Restuarants. There is something like 160 Disco Pubs and 19 Discos and Nightclubs and there is well over 1,300 Bars and Pubs to choose from.
There are two wonderful beaches....The Poniente and the Levante, but there are also a few smaller beaches including Mal Pas, and two small Coves: Ti Ximo and Almadraba where you can escape from the hussle and bussle of the crowds.
Of course Benidorm itself is divided into two main areas, The Old Town which is full of small Bars, Shops, Tapas and quaint little streets with some beautiful old houses to admire. This is where you will find most of the Spanish and this part of Benidrom does have a distinct Spanish 'feel' about it. Then there is the New Town where you will find most of the High Rise Hotels and most of the Nightlife. This part of Benidorm tens to be more geared for the tourist and where most British Tourists choose their accomodation from.
Benidorm boasts a very long 'Promenade' which you can stroll along and enjoy the sea views. Taking a stroll along here at night is a very popular pastime. But a word of warning, despite the way the prm looks, it is not Pedestrianised, so do be careful if you walk along the actual road...keeop an eye out for the traffic.....its best to walk on the pavement. Watch out for the Sand Sculptures which are in abundance around Christmas and New year time.
This list is far from exhaustive, but I hope if you are thinking about visiting Benidorm for the first time that it has given you a small insight on what to expect. One thing is for sure, you will not be bored in Benidorm.
I'm going to start a petition now .

I think so many people have misconceptions (i've swallowed a dictionary lol) of Benidorm and I think this is a nice condensed description for people who've never been.
Well done BenidormHereICome

I ommited to mention that if you like to take your own 'home' with you to Benidorm then there are at least a dozen Camping Sites situated on the outskirts of the Resort.
Then there are an abundance of activities which include Swimming, Scuba Diving, Golf, Cable Ski, Horse Riding, Boat Charter, and Yachting. There is a mulitude of Excursions to choose from which can either be booked via your Tour Operator or independantly. Such excursions include Guadalest, Altea, Alicante, Valencia, Algar Fountains, Cactus Gardens, Animal Sanctuary, Chocolate Factory, Polop, L'Alfas Del Pi, Finestrat, Calpe, Denia, La Vila Joiosa, El Campello, and La Nucia to name just a few.
For the Shopaholics, (and I know you are out there ), there is a twice weekly Open Air Market held on Sundays and Wednesdays as well as a daily Indoor Market. And there are over 2,000 shops in Benidorm selling all kinds of things from clothes, souvenirs, crafts, sportswear, leatherwear and leather goods, shoes, and beachwear.
There really is something for everyone in Benidorm.
However, while not wishing to contradict what has been said, to avoid any confusion I should perhaps mention that Benidorm is in fact divided into three main areas.
You have the beautiful and picturesque Benidorm Old Town, with its many shops, bars, restaurants, hostals and hotels hidden away in the little narrow streets. Next to the Chapel of San Jaime, you have fantastic views over the entire resort from the headland, and a flight of steps which will lead you down to both the port and the cove at Playa del Malpas. For authentic Spanish culture, Benidorm Old Town is the place to go. Accommodation is perhaps more residential than tourist, but there are some wonderful little places to book into.
Heading east from the Old Town, you have the Levante side of the resort which many refer to as the 'new town'. It stretches all the way to Rincon de Loix and is the most densely populated area of Benidorm. Most of the resort's accommodation and nightlife is on this side of town.
However, heading west from the Old Town, you have the Poniente side of the resort which stretches all the way to Cala de Finestrat. Less densely populated than the Levante side at the moment, but there is still a lot of construction work going on as the Poniente district has what the Levante district is running out of - space !! Perhaps more apartments than hotels, but certainly no shortage of tourist accommodation, and well away from the hustle and bustle of the Levante.
Each of those three areas has its own fantastic beach. In many ways, Benidorm's success and popularity is down to it having these three completely different districts, allowing the resort to provide something to suit everyone's tastes. It's like three resorts all in one.

So just to clarify then David, the three main areas of Benidorm are Levante, Poniente and Rincon de Loix?
I think the three main areas David is referring to is Poniente, Old Town and Levante.
Michelle
