I watched The Kite Runner on a flight last year and really enjoyed which is something seeing as I never watch films.
I bought A Thousand Splendid Suns today to read on the flight to Las Vegas after recommendations on here. I doubt I will have time to read much when I'm there so I hope I can manage to finish it on the flight.
How long do you reckon it would take to read? I don't normally read books either.

Also the Bookseller of Kabul by Asne Sierestad was a fascinating & very readable insight into the lives of women under the Taliban.
Oh and Shantaram is a great book too! About an escaped Australian convict who lives in Mumbai's slums & gets involved in the gangster underground...............far more readable & enjoyable as that sounds---as that wouldn't normally appeal to me. Very long ....you might get repetitive strain injury holding it on the sunbed!!
Like some of you I enjoy reading about lives in foreign lands amost as much as I enjoy visiting them!
I jhave just bought Slumdog Millionare to read on the beach in Goa
1. The little prisoner.
2. Broken.
3. Cry silent tears.
4. Amy winehouse autobiography.
