I always use an Aquapack - you put your normal digital camera in it and it makes it waterproof to 5 metres - I swear by them now. Heres a couple of pictures taken with it. There is a thread for underwater cameras near the top of this page that might help you:

Hi Elaine,
Ive always used underwater up until now and the quality has always been good (im pretty sure its usually kodak ones that I use). Im going for a digital camera this time thoguh because although the picture quality on a disposable is good you cant get really crisp and colourful pictures :D

hi elaine
look out for the offers in Boots the 3 for 2 offer on disposable cameras. the last lot i purchased were kodak sport and cost around £20 for 3; 27 photos on each camera and the quality of my pics were great. since then my hubby has purchased an olympus digital with underwater housing more tech - has a zoom button!!!! if its your first time disposable cameras are great.

kodak disposable give ok pictures. for this year we got a Nikon Coolpix 7900 digital as what camera said it gave the best underwater pictures. however we cannot find a housing for it and have looked everywhere even though nikon says it is available. still got another few months of trying to go.

Hi I am in the process of buying a camera for snorkelling in Sharm this summer, I am leaning towards a Pentax optio Wpi (6mpix waterproof to 1.5 mtr) for £168. Has anyone here tried this camera or got any views on it, would 1.5 mtrs be deep enough. I have been trying to find a housing for my Minolta dig slr but have had no luck.
Cheers.

Hello everyone!,

well Ive been researching this underwater camera thing and Im now considering getting a new digital camera and then getting the underwater housing for it! So my question is whether any of you have the camera's that Im looking at and have taken underwater pictures with them!? So heres the technical bit: the one Im most interested in is the Olypmus mju mini, and also maybe the sony dsc p150 (told you we were getting technical!!!). So if any of you have had experiences with these underwater please could you pm me and maybe send me some pics?!

cheers guys! :D

I saw this one around, and had a look online etc, looks quite good. I also saw it tested on ITV. They chucked it round in sand, water and mud and it still worked.

What put me off was it says on the box you can only use it underwater for 30 minute sessions, not sure why. But it does say that.

Hi all
well i was happy snapping away with the disposable type but hubby went shopping few yrs ago and came home with the olympus stylus digital, then he purchased the underwater housing. it is good has a zoom button which is about all i can use push too many buttons and i cant take photos but get a really good slide show of all the photos on the camera!!!!! and miss what i want to take a photo of..... when my hubby goes diving we have had the camera in the underwater housing for up to 7hrs a day and had no problems. hubby has dived to 35metres and took some fab photos almost as good the ones i take snorkelling :D

camerasunderwater in London is the best palce to look for a camera and case, I just brought the Olympus mu600 and case, tried in the pool while dive training and found it needed a little getting used to, film speeds and flash etc, in the end i brought a external flash unit NOW the photos are great!.

And dont forget the London dive show in April.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't said hello for ages, but have had a few new ventures on the go. I am now officially a prof photographer and have been accepted by a photo library - incredibly hard to get into-believe me!
Anyway when I was last in my beloved Sharm in Sept 05 we went on the obligitary boat trip- to Tiran Island this time, and got talking to a lovely Swiss family. He had an incredibly posh all singing all dancing camera in one of those plastic bag thingies, and his pics were great, and more to the point the posh camera was dry!
So SuperCol got me one for Xmas (about £180 I think) he has given me his Canon SLR We have bought a new flash gun for it and I can even put my digital camera and video camera in it. Now this is very good news for me after the camera disasters I had on my last visit. We go again in about 10 weeks so I am now all gadgeted up .

I found this for you:

Q. After using the camera in the water for 30 minutes, may I use it again in the water immediately?

A. No. Wait ten minutes to maintain the water-repellency of the microphone and speaker seals.

Right I think Im going for the mju mini s from olympus! anyone got one/tried it out? :D

brought one just before xmas, great camera to use they have special underwater modes to help bring out the reds. I have only used it in the local pool so far but it did take a little time to get the hang off ( ISO seeds etc).

I must admit that i went out and brought a external TTL strobe WOW what a difference, less back scatter shaper pictures and less bluring.

Boots waterproof single use cameras are currently on BOGOF. Might be good for children who are going snorkelling in red sea.
