The jewellers here that value stuff bought in Turkey will not give you that amount if you offer it to them.We had a jewellers that gave you what you paid for a piece of jewellry from their shop as long as you put it in part exchange for a more expensive item.It has new owners and I took a 3 stone diamond ring back asking if they would part exchange it for a more expensive ring.I was disgusted went they offered me £80 for a ring that had cost nearly £1000 a few years ago.

I bought my husband a gold bracelet for his 40th birthday 5 years ago in turkey, we paid £370.00 for it, when we got home we had it valued and the valuation came back at £999.00, that was as i said 5 years ago god knows what its worth now. A good jewellers is Diadem on the main rd in marmaris. We had a necklace made for our grand daughter 2 years ago and bartered them down from £130 to £80.00 its worth about £260 now. This year my husband bought me a charm bracelet in white and yellow gold with 6 charms on it for £260 its value here is £690 not bad at all.

I've bought a couple of times in Turkey. First time was a 14ct gold necklace in Gumbet a number of years ago. Excellent value from a small jewellers at the bottom of bar street on the left - probably not there now! No tarnishing and necklace still as good as new.

Second was in Marmaris, from the Marmaris Gold Center. I bought a TAG watch, which came with all guarantees, box and essential paperwork. Even got a customs form for tax off at the airport. Registered watch in UK on TAG website, and it came back genuine. Gold Center also on list of official stockists. They were prepared to let me pay for it later when they heard we were staying in Sunrise!! Brilliant service and nothing too much trouble.

She Who Must Be Obeyed has bought silver from various little shops in the bazaar and none have tarnished so far.

Just be careful with what you buy and you should be OK. Goung to Olu in Sept, so might check out local gold again. Will be a bargain, given world gold prices on the up again.

I bought a gold ring for £200 in Turunc, and because we agreed the deal in sterling but didn't have the cash in sterling with us, the jeweller told us to take the ring, and bring the money in the next day!

We have purchased many gold items in Icmeler, and they have always been valued at more than twice what we paid for them, however over here they are valued for insurance, so this is the price you would pay to replace them not what you would get if you sold them.
We always go to Safir jewellers in Icmeler, and find he is very good.

Acouple of years ago I purchased a gold ring and white and yellow gold bracelet from the Vogue jewellers in Marmaris,my daughter has worked in top jewellery shops for the last 16 years, and when I showed them to her she said they were only worth what I paid for them, without elaborating any further, and I bartered them down to a third of the asking price!!.Last year friends we were with bought an emerald and baguette diamond ring,3 weeks later a diamond came out, obviously lost, that jewellers was near the entrance to the bazzar. We are all going back again this year, and she is going back to the jewellers to see what they can do!!.My daughter said that baguette diamonds can come out easy because of the setting,so be careful!!.Saying all that I am still pleased with my ring and bracelet,I did not buy them to sell on!!.

Hi,
I know the subject has been covered in previous posts in some way shape or form, but are there any particular jewellers that should be used or more especially avoided when purchasing gold? Our son will be having his seventh birthday in Marmaris this year and he is determined to have a gold chain. Since we are already out there we thought it would be a good idea to buy it there providing the jewellers are to be trusted and the quality dosent suffer for the price!

Regards

Glen

I have merged your post with an existing topic on jewellers which has several recommendations for Marmaris, including my own for Te-Ta Jewellers on a street behind the bazaar HERE

I got a ring last year from a jewellers in Alanya, cost £50. On Saturday whilst we was in town I told my boyfriend to go in and get it valued for me, I warned him that if it wasn't real or wasn't what I thought it was not to tell me, but they said it's worth £150 at least! We bought a lot of stuff from Turkey, perfumes, football shirts etc but jewellery is the only thing I think I would buy again, already started saving up some money so I can get myself something special this year :)

I always buy jewellery from Murat and Sona, who own Firuze Jewellers In Icmeler. They are a lovely young couple, and I have purchased some beautiful rings from there, and whether you buy or not they always make you feel welcome, and the prices are very good also.
I would'nt go anywhere else. :tup

I also recommend Firuze, we have been there the last couple of years buying my wifes gold, they also do excellent repairs, just pop in and say hello, their service is second to none and there is no hassel.

Its our silver wedding anniversary next July and during my recent visit to Icmeler we called into Princess Jewellers to speak to Jeff and his wife, who we have known for years. He showed me a stunning 1 carat diamond solitaire ring and asked if I was worth £1500 for being married 25 years. It was beautiful and after thinking long and hard my hubby said yes you can have it.
Well, last week hubby took it to be valued for Insurance purposes and the Valuation was £4000. :really I nearly fainted with shock. Heard that jewellry was worth more on returning home but was amazed. Told him I was too scared to wear it now but still havn't taken it off yet.
Bought quite a few things over the years and will certainly being buying again.

Sorry, this is really lazy posting but I don't have time to go through the pages in this topic.

Could anyone recommend any jewellers in Marmaris? I'd prefer to use one which somebody has used and got their jewellery valued when back in the UK.

Don't want to be getting ripped off!

Could you also tell me wherabouts they are - haven't been before!

Thanks

Search the forums for Te Ta as I have recommended them earlier in this topic.

I don't have time to search for it.
