Hi.
We are off to Gumbet in May/June. I feel like treating myself to a new watch, a TAG Heuer, Brietling or similar. I would obviously like to save a bit of money, so, do you think I would get a genuine bargain in Turkey or should I buy the watch at home. I always feel that I'm not as good at bartering as the professionals who barter for a living. All advise most welcome.
Thanx.

Hi do your homework first ,you can get big discounts from people like blitz watches off the net in the uk.I got my Breitling in the uk with over 25% off list, Last year I looked at getting a watch from cyprus and they were more than the uk.you would also have to watch out for customs as you need to pay duty.I was in Olu Deniz this year and even in the bigger jewelers on the high St the Rolex's were dubious, ie wrong type of box for the model and so on.I would check on the manufactures web site for a list of official stockists and only buy from them. good luck with the hunt for a bargain. I hope this is some use to you.

hello ,i have no doubt you will get the type of watch you want in turkey at a cheaper price than the uk, as everywhere else you just have to be careful , as for haggling ,it is no problem just set a price in your mind and dont change if the trader or jeweller is anxious enough he will give in . as for customs i have brought fortunes worth of jewellery and watches them with no problems ,just wear them simple.

Where is the best place to buy Jewellery in Kusadasi - particulary a diamond ring? I've bought here in the past but not for a number of years.

I bought a ring in Marmaris 3 years ago which my partner no longer wears. Is it possible to take it with us to Turkey this year and sell or swap for something else...???? The ring cost £1400 and valued in the UK nearly 3 times this so seems a shame for it to just sit in the jewellry box.

Hi Donny

I took a ring back, the jeweller took 25% off this price and let me swap it for something else.

I also saved up scrap gold and the jeweller bought it off me paid for our holiday.

Thanks for that Lynn. Did you take it back to the same jeweller or another one...??? We bought it from a large jeweller on the main road in Marmaris, can't remember the name, but sure we would find it again. God i would defo settle for that. Did you have all the receipts with you as I am not sure where the receipt and certificate is although i am sure the other half would find them somewhere. The ring has 3 princess cut diamonds, 1 @ .68 and 2 @ .26 ct each so we were thinking of just using the diamonds and having them made into earings (smaller ones) and another ring. Do you think that they would do this for us....???

I took it back to the same jeweller did'nt have the receipt but they had it on their computer.
I took an old ring that I had last year and they made it into a pendant for me it did cost £200 but no one else will have the same thing.

i have have brought a few bits of gold over the years from turkey marmaris/icmeler i always go to a well establisted firm for a bit of security and peace of mind and never had problem
friends of mine brought a gold bracelet from icmeler and when back home the clasp broke, :( she took it in to local jewellery shop and was told it was not gold  so you have to be carefull as in turkey it does not have same legal markings as our gold :!:

Can anyone recommend a good jeweller in Marmaris who would take a ring with 3 diamonds and change the setting completely. I would like to use the same gold and stones but just change the look of the ring.

Thanks.

I would also suggest Diadem, in fact he was explaining to my wife and I that he can do what you're asking just last week. There is more than one by the same name but they are apparently not connected to each other. The one we use is Diadem in the bazaar ask for Luckyman to ensure you get the correct shop, which is on a corner opposite Liman restaurant. We have bought jewellery from him several times all seems to be ok, we even had a diamond lost from a ring we purchased from him, and he replaced it free of charge more than 6 months later without even questioning how the ring may have been treated in the mean time. Please pm me for his email address if you want to ask him any questions or for any other contact details.

hi wizyfam 3
me and my partner have been going to marmaris for many years, the only jewellers we can recomend would be AKSOY they have two shops one in the bazzar and another up the main street by the piont centre, and they are just opening a new shop opposite. the family have become close personal friends over the years we have been going to marmaris and will do anything to help people. if you do use them make sure you say mike and liz sent you , they are sure to go that extra mile for you .
i will be there myself in two weeks

Hi there,
We have bought several pieces of jewellery from GrandMall Jewellers in the Bizarre - and never had a problem.

My husband has bought me a diamond ring and necklace, he has had gold chain - very friendly and reasonable prices. Also my wedding ring needed to be made bigger and they did this for free!!

Been so often we get a christmas card every year.

HI,
Vogue Jewellery Center is very good for this sort of thing.
They have shops in England too, so you feel a bit more reassured that you are working with an english company.
They've got the workshops on site and you can watch the boys changing your jewellery - its really good.
Hope that helps!

You should try Firuze Jewellers on the main road above the disco.
The owners are Murat and Sona, really nice couple.
