Had this the other day when I followed my usual link. When I keyed http://www.xl.com in the address bar it seemed to take you to a page that bypassed the problem.

XL website

I did try that, also tried going into it via a search engine i always get the same page and cant get past the "please choose your country" bit!!

It did this last week as well and i made the mistake of clicking the german one instead "to see if that would work" - i got onto the german website ok and even though it said click here to be taken to uk site it would not let me do that either. Then when i tried to acces it from my favourites list later that day the favourites link took me straight to the german site again ggrrrr :twisted:

I had to reset my favourites link again when i did eventually get onto the uk site again.

Like i said this was last week - but is now doing it again but am not going to make the same mistake of clicking one of the other flags again :wink:

Hmmm - just checked, http://www.xl.com is working fine for me! Temperamental little soul isn't it?! :twisted:

Has anyone done the Gatwick to Barbados flight ? Outbound and return are via Manchester and I just wondered how long the wait on the ground was and whether you get off the plane.

We have booked return flighst to Sharm in October, the outbound flight has a V at the end of the flight number which i know means no included meal can buy snacks etc...........the return flight from Sharm has no V at end of number, does that mean we get a meal included?
I only ask as we have a Veggie travelling with us so want to order a specfic meal.

Has anyone ever tried to change an Excel flight??? We're booked on 7 Sept to Heraklion, but are sorely tempted to change to 8 September to Kos..(long story) - anyone know what the likely charges would be - would they treat this as a cancellation or just apply an admin charge???

I am due to fly fly to Dalaman 18/5/07 , and return 1 week later. But it is possible that i will not be on the outbound flight.(I may take another 1 way flight a couple of days later). Do i need to inform xl so that they won't cancel my seat back.

Just wondering if anyone has used Tesco clubcard vouchers to buy flights from XL? When you call up are they the same price as whats quoted on their website or do you have to pay more. Obviously discount codes wouldn't work?

Hi nicolaw. I booked flights to faro for hubby and I in July using my tesco clubcard vouchers. Paid the same price as the website but could not use the vouchers against the taxes. Got a really good deal. Far better than booking the Cosmos holidays with vouchers as you pay the top price and more.

Snapper - you definitely need to talk to XL about your return flight as it is my understanding that, on any airline, your return flight is automatically cancelled if you do not present yourself for the outward flight.

XLA probs

oh dear, my friend was heading out to sanford this afternoon on what is supposed to be the 13.30 service on XLA 124 from MAN. trouble is the flight was meant to arrive from sanford at 09.35 and according to her panic stricken texts which are currently consuming my phone inbox, the screens are now just saying wait for further information. there is apparently an aircraft on the runway at sanford that has come to rest after a collapsed nose gear incident on landing. sounds like XLA 133 may not even have left sanford yet... :shock:

not sure if other flights are affected...

Looking on the Sanford site, XL 133 is scheduled for departure at 8.45am florida time (1.45pm our time today) so your friend is going to have a 12 hour delay unless XL have a spare plane or can charter one in.

jeeeeeez! at least they are not with any children-just the 2 of them, you would not believe the amount of deliberation there was in that house before they finally booked this trip...generally due to the whole XL delay reputation!!!!! as ever though, cost won out and the big, plain white bird it was to be, don't think they planned for this though despite previous XL problems, you always think you will get away with it don't you? don't know whether to call and tell her or not, there will probably be tears, but i am sure excel will not be forthcoming with this little snippet of info!!!!!!! :roll:

According to the manchester airport site - XL133 is due in at 22.15 tonight so 2.5 hours for turnaround means a departure of 12.45am (if they are even allowed to take off this late). I imagine they will be taken to a hotel but you never know with the charters they might just keep them at the airport.

Just done the Excel Gatwick to Barbados via Manchester flight.

Outbound 6 hour delay.
Inbound 2.5 hour delay and then announced once on board that there would be no movies/audio entertainment due to a technical fault !! Had also run out of snacks.
Surprisingly, the stop in Manchester (which I'd been dreading) actually wasn't too bad, but I think they start a direct LGW service later this month.

Only myself to blame, as I vowed never to use them again after last Easters flight times to Gran Canaria were shifted by 6 hours after we booked it.

Ah well, you get what you pay for...
