We also had a 5 hr delay going out to egypt at easter and 33hours delay on the way back. i think we were really unlucky on the way home as we did board on time but there was a problem with the plane . but on the way out every XL flight had a long delay whilst none of the other airlines did.
Im still curious to find out if we were just unlucky and im tempted to give them another go but hubby would kill me
Spoke to xl and was told that as long as someone from my party informed them that i will definately be on the inbound flight, they wouldn't cancel it if i didn't use the outbound. What a relief, I can go and watch the cup final now.
Thinking of booking with them when you do their transfers do they provide a bus or a mini bus or a taxi thanks sandi
Grateful for any helpf with Excel promotional discount codes, TESCO now only knocks off £10. Any one know of any bigger better codes?

The TESCO has varied before .....maybe try it again in a few weeks if you are not in a hurry to book ,and your flight is some way off in the furture ?
Anyone flown Teesside (Sorry ! DTV) to Larnaca with XL since they took over from Ajet.
do you get tickets for xl flights or are they ticketless and you use the booking confirmation
You do get tickets - should be a couple of weeks before, so don't be afraid to chase them if it gets to 10 days and you haven't got them (it's happened to me twice - once I had to collect at the airport and the seecond time they both e-mailed me a set and sent them special delivery!!)
I am also waiting for XL summer 2008 flights. Anyone know when they come out?
If you look at the XL timetable for 2008 flights they are starting too show however you can't book them via the internet yet, maybe you can try ringing them.
Already booked our flights with XL a while ago before I came across this forum. Travelling to Tobago 12.01.08 from Gatwick.
Now I have read reviews from other sites regards XL and to say the least they are mixed. I believe I got a very cheap price when I booked, but I'm still concerned about delays etc... what are the general impressions of other forum members of the Carribean routes.
I have considered cancelling and going with Virgin or BA but it's going to cost me around another £350 for two.(plus around £130 cancellation charge)
Thanks....
The 2008 flights are beginning to appear on the website ...but not the one's were looking for yet
Well - one of them's appeared - now booked for 10 nights to Kos at the end of June next year!!
I am now stuck in Newcastle airport facing a 10 hour delay to Faro while XL look for a replacement aircraft.
Suppose it serves myself right.
If you've never used XL before, then don,t. They really are the pits.
Do hope you get off soon. I for one have never flown excel and after reading all the dreadful reviews I most certainly do not intend to.
Don't be put off. Having flown with XL airlines on many occasions, I have found them to be very good and very punctual. Every airline incurs delays from time to time, and there is no hiding the fact that 10 hours is a long delay and a bad start to any holiday, but all the major charters now and again have large delays, including the likes of First Choice, Mytravel, Thomsonfly and Thomas Cook. But one thing you cannot complain about is the price of some of their flights, which a lot of the time, are uncomparable and much cheaper to other major UK charters
I have just returned from Bodrum with XL on Monday. second time flying with them and had no problems each time. Left on time and landed half an hour early going and coming back. Would not hesitate to use them again.
The problem with XL is that, when they run to schedule, thy are very good - decent seats and pitch, good service & food (when provided) and punctual. However, when something goes wrong, it goes wrong in a big way! They have very little in the way of contingency should an aircraft go U/S and have to try and wet lease in other aircraft from (often) tin-pot operators at the last minute. This leads to some of the most hrrific delays and cancellations. I appreciate that they can not afford to have empty aircraft just sitting around in case something happens to another one, but their back-up facilities and customer care are pitiful. I speak from bitter experience and, having flown with them and suffered this I vowed never again (in fact I cancelled other bookings I had made).
Unfortunately, I am due to fly with them in August (as part of a package that only became known once booked!) and am dreading it.

I can't argue with that, as that seems to be a common problem & I've witnessed this myself at Manchester. Lets just hope we both get away on time this year and XL prove you wrong! Off to anywhere nice?
