Rained for most of the two weeks, had two sunny days and that was it. Really awful place and couldnt wait to go home. Bulgaria is cheap and nasty, full of scammers and crooks. Lots of people were mugged while we were there. Mountains of seaweed every day at the edge of the sea (not that you could go in it as the weather so bad). Not a nice place atall. Nothing to do there except shop. Would never go there again, if i wanted downmarket i would have gone to Western - Super- Mare.

Were really impressed with the resort of Albena. Plenty to do...watersports, horse riding, bowling, crazy golf even paint balling!
There are many very reasonable restaurants in the town of Albena, our favourite was Peter's Bar in the main street. It is definitely worth a couple of visits, the traditional menu was great.

I would think if we were to return to Bulgaria, we would probably opt for either Sunny Beach or Golden Sands.

The resort was clean. The toilets were a bit smelly.
The resort had bikes, we hired boats on the water and a fair for children. A local market selling all sorts of local trades.

Watch out for the horse and carts I got caught paying lots of money on a two hour trip they are very persuasive to take you looking at sites you must agree a price before, I didn't.

The beach was clean but look out for the people selling things to you they don't leave you alone on the beach but barter with them for a bargain.

I would go back to this resort.

Albena itself is is a lovely place with some of the stalls selling traditional goods (some are selling absolute rubbish, just like any resort). Everywhere you go there is someone sweeping up (we could learn a thing or two from them). One thing though, wear sensible shoes, the pavements are very uneven and broken in places.
There are a variety of restuarants on the sea front catering for all tastes. We found a grand one, The Old House, Milko our waiter is excellent and remembers what you like on only your second visit! La Bomba does wonderful cocktails (non-alcoholic ones too)All the bars and restuarants have live entertainment, but not so loud that they're competeing with each other.
The beach is fantastic, it was lovely walking along the shore cooling our feet in the clean water. There are bars on the beach so you can stop for a rest whenever you feel the need. There are quite a few sports activities available if that's what you want.
We did go out and about a bit by taxi (having checked the price first)we found the drivers very helpful and informative. The first one even stopped for us to see the view across to Balchic and back to Albena. When he saw us come out of the supermarket empty-handed he took us back in to translate as what we required was not on show. Taxis are cheap but you MUST negotiate the price first and if the driver offers to take you somewhere of interest on the way make sure that it doesn't alter the price quoted. We also booked an excursion through the hotel, Picturesque Bulgaria, very informative and the guide was brilliant.
Yes I may well go back to Albena, tho I don't see me wanting to live there as so many Brits are now doing.
At Varna airport (duty free shop) you are now able to pay with euros or levs.

We stayed for a fortnight.

The resort its self is very clean and safe the town of Albena is very small but they did have some nice bars and restaurants Poco Loco is one of the best. They had some great dancers Ivo and Dils. Dils made my sons holiday by dancing with him he is only 12 and loved it the food there is good and the service great.

La Bomba on the beach also does great food at a good price. The sports bar with Zack is also a great place to visit he does the most english food and is football mad.

The taxis are cheap and the best way to travel. prices in the town vary but they are cheap between 70p and £1 for a pint. Varna is a great place to visit but alot off people complained about the pick pockets but we went with a bulgerian so we didnt have any proplems there.

The beach and sea are very clean and safe but there are jelly fish the riding school is also worth a visit the horses are nice and the stables are very clean it costs about £8 for a hours walk down the beach.

There are alot of prostitutes in the town but they dont bother men with children or partners we found it amusing watching them walking up and down.

We all had a great time and would go back to the same area again.

Albena was a okay sort of place but not somewhere I would go again. We went to the same place when we went out to have a drink every night for a fortnight. That was the tropical cafe karaoke bar. There was a good atmosphere there as well.

We had food twice in there too the best food we had for the fortnight. Not very expensive either. Watch out for the men who try to sell you roses they pester you even when your eating your food they must walk miles in one night.

Beware though when you go out at night ladies hold on to your men because prostitutes are rife.

The resort was clean I suppose depends what your definition of clean was.

The beach was okay too we only went there twice the sand is quite clean except for a few fag ends here and there. The annoying part is the people who come around trying to sell you things like jewellery, bras and knickers when your sunbathing.

I ended up buying an anklet of one women just so she'd go away. It was broke within two days.

If you get the chance to go on daytrips then go to the dolphinarium in varna you travel all that way and your only there for about 45 mins but the show is really good.

All in all the resort is okay but I won't be going back.
