Albena resort is lovely and we did so many water sports I am still talking about them.
It was so cheap you could really do whatever you have always wanted to do but not been able to afford it. If you want a portait done take a photo with you the artists in the town are fantastic.
Best place to eat is Poco Loco great night out. I would visit Albena again but would go self catering.
Dont go in June if you are a sun lover we had 9 days of rain in the 2 weeks we were there so we were not happy.

Albena (and Bulgaria in general) is superb! very clean, no litter or dog mess anywhere. Also it is very friendly, and safe in our experience.
Most of the bars and restaurants have live music in the evenings. Being fortysomething teenagers, we had a great time in the towns best disco 'Gorski Tzar' which has a huge outdoor area in which to cool off - free entry and drinks no dearer than elsewhere. A visit to the 15th floor terrace bar/restaurant of the Dobrudja Hotel is a must, for the stunning panoramic views. The 'Bar Ganvie' built right out on the beach is fantastic for a lunchtime or evening chillout.
The Beach is absolutely superb. Not just miles long, but also very wide, with really fine sand, which is well maintained and cleaned continuously it seems.
An old time style photo portrait session cost us about £45 for a complete package, including several large sepia and colour prints, and the whole shoot (16 photos) on a cdrom.
As for the prostitutes so often mentioned by other reviewers, I must admit that yes they are around if one looks, but not as in your face as some have suggested, perhaps they have learned to be more discreet and less conspicuous? or perhaps they know to stay well away from men obviously with their wives/girlfriends.
To sum up this was one of the best holiday experiences we have had, it was our first visit to Albena, I don't think it will be our last!

The beach was immaculate and the surrounding areas, you feel obliged when you have a cigarette to put the tab end into the ash tray which is at top of the bins.
So cheap to eat and drink out especially if you do not like your hotel food like we didnt they more or less cated for the Germans.

Albena is a purpose built resort with a dozen or so bars and restaurants and tacky fairground attractions and craft stores selling the same thing there are few real shops and not much authentic about it.
However on the plus side the resort is spotlessly clean, the beach is vast sandy and again clean and unlike the bigger Bulgarian resorts the building work is all completed so no dust dirt or noise!
A welcome addition to the bar scene is a Bulgarian Irish bar! and amust visit is the Panarama cafe on the 15th floor of the Dubrutz Hotel
There is a 12 lane ten pin bowling alley which is so primative it's laughable, and a rather ricketty dodgems which gave us hours of fun, the ajoining German Bar is very friendly and pleasant, much more so than the over rated karaoke hell of the Tropical Bar which is probably the dearest bar in the resort
All in all a pleasant resort with nice walks and satisfactory bars if you aren't too demanding
But a word of warning to the Bulgarian tourist board people will not return unless the authorities do not get rid of the prostitutes who harass male Brits sometimes in front of their families - it's nasty offensive and dirty and could singularly ruin tourism for Bulgaria.

The resort of Albena is beautiful and not over-built. The hotels are all surrounded by parks and woodland and everything is kept spotlessly clean. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from most have some kind of entertainment. There is also a Casino, Bowling Alley, Riding Club and school, and many more sporting and leisure activities centred in the resort. Traffic is practically non-existant apart from the road trains which constantly circle the resort and the horse and carts, which in my opinion makes it a very child friendly place to holiday. On the "main drag" there are all the usual stalls selling touristy type stuff and there is also an inside Bazaar with quite a selection of shops. The beach area is lovely and clean and offers all the usual water sports and has lots of rides and activities for younger kids. There are a few nightclubs dotted around also and most bars stay open as long as they have customers. In my opinion this resort has something for all ages and still remains unspoilt, will definitely return.

Although this resort is a bit far from the city of Varna, there are taxis and buses available, the taxis being a bit expensive.Watch out for pickpockets on the buses.I found the resort to be very clean generally, with adequate entertainment.I found the beach to be very clean with enough entertainment on the beachfront to keep the kiddies happy.

Albena is compact, easily accessible on foot yet big enough to challenge those who like a stroll. It is exceptionally clean with hardly any traffic. It has a superb beach and numerous bars, restaurants, shops and childrens facilities. It is family orientated so not ideal for the late night reveller although you can find a late night drink if you want one. It has mini markets selling most essential items, counterfeit clothing, bags, belts, watches and CDs.
I would recommend Albena to those who have an open mind and want a young family orientated beach holiday in a peaceful setting. It retains a post communism, Bulgarian flavour and lacks the sophistication of its Spanish equivalent.
I would not recommend it to those who want all the English comforts in a sunny environment. If you unable to adapt to and enjoy foreign ways then it is not suitable

Didn't find any entertainment. Some very nice restaurants. Wouldn't visit this resort again it had nothing to offer even the shops were all the same - tacky.
