The resort was lovely and clean but we felt based more to the Eastern Europeans. Apart from the casino we did not think much of the resort entertainment. The beach was lovely and clean but expensive for sunbeds and shades, especially when you are a large group, it was very hot and you needed to have the sun shades. We would not visit this resort again, mainly because there was not enough for older children and young adults.

Lovely Beach, very clean, nice people and beautiful views.
Plently of shops everywhere and loads of resturants too.
The Golden Sands resort is fantastic for families or anyone really. Our hotel was outside the resort centre but even then their was loads to do.

We would come to back to Golden Sands, however I think I would like to visit some of the other Bulgarian resorts first.
There were a lot of PR people handing out leaflets for the clubs and bars which was annoying but you just have to learn to say no and keep walking.
The restaurants were good, but is best to eat about. My advice would be look for the busier places and they will tell you which are better.
Everything is very cheap, though this will change once the Euro comes in so try and go before January 2007!

A great resort that caters for those who want to relax with a partner or their family, but also plenty to do for young people. the fact it is so inexpensive for food and drink means you can really enjoy yourself without really worrying about money. the beach is great for those who want to lye all day in the sun, but also has wee beach bars and umberellas for those who dont. for such a tourist place and for so many promotional leaflets to be given out, the resort is surprisingly clean.

Golden Sands itself is ok. It's a purpose built resort so all there is is tourist shops and bars, which is fine if you're just on a relaxing holiday. Golden Sands has a real mix of tourists there, a lot of Germans but also equal numbers of English, Swedish and often some Russian.
The Bulgarians are very cheeky and often put at least 1 or 2 lev onto drinks prices, even when you're sat there with the menu infront of you! This is ok i suppose as 1 lev is only around 35p but I don't think they'll get away with this if/when they have the Euro!
The rep advised us to go to 'Party Street' for the best bars and clubs but there isn't really that much there. The Lions pub was excellent as it was the World Cup whilst we were there and all the English in the resort were in there I think! We went to 'Bonkers' but it was a bit of a let down really. Along the sea front are where the better bars are personally, for all ages. If you want to go to a club, the best, most modern, and bizarrely the cheapest is the 'Pr. Club'. Its sooo nice inside, you must go. You don't get dragged into places like you do in Tenerife/Mallorca etc., just have to fight off the leaflet girls a bit!
We took a trip to Nessebar which is a nice day out, just next to Sunny Beach, which is a lot bigger than Golden Sands, but much of the same I'm told. Nessebar is the oldest town in Europe apparently. It's very pretty and its story is in the museum, but again very touristy.
Don't buy trips from your rep, they're almost twice the cost than the ones on the street, and they book with the same people anyway!
Do try some traditional food, it's so cheap so there's no reason not to really! You can have a very nice meal, with drinks, for £7 per head.

GOLDEN SANDS a very clean resort no litter and roads washed twice a day. Plenty of Bars with live entertainment. A selection of different restaurants. The beach is well maintained with lifeguards and flags, with plenty of sunbeds which you hire by day or week.

The Rio Bolero is on the edge of the busy promenade in the Golden Sands, with lots of stalls and shops, they are very nice people and do not hassle you when you look. We were approached a couple of times by someone asking to change your money, obviously you wouldnt not do this, but you are advised at the welcome meeting. We also took a taxi into Varna which is very cheap especially the bars and restaurants. Would certainly go again.

WE were here last year and thought the resort was great This year it was even better. Plenty of eating places, bars and night clubs. For the girls there are non-ending stalls and shops. The beach is still one of the cleanest I've been on. This year the Police pay regular visits to Party Street and this makes the local Ladies of the Night keep a pretty low profile. One of the best places for eating and entertainment is in a beach-front restaurant called Mama Mia's. This place is a must for a visit during your holiday. Head barman is George and his staff are Bazil, Vasco, Rudi and Kris. Great food and watching these guy's at work is a joy.

We would not use Golden Sands again unless they cleaned up the working girls.(prostitutes) There were lots of them working the streets and were very blatant. They would not take no for an answer.
The resort itself was quite good, plenty of nice places to eat and be entertained. The food was very good value for money depending on where you went to eat. The little trains that ran around the resort were very good value and saved your legs as they took you right up the hill and round the resort.
