Our resort, Golden Sands, was 7km away from our hotel so unfortunately we never managed to get through too often. However, in contrast to where we were staying, the beaches were far cleaner and far better kept. Good nightlife, my personal favourite being Ministry of Cocktails, and Muppets the karaoke bar! Just be aware of the prostitutes and pickpockets!

Overall the resort was nice, the entertainment was restricted to the cocktail bars more for adults.there seemed to be lots of night clubs for the hard core party people.
Beach was clean you pay for sunbeds and umburella's cheap enough if your spending all day on the beach.

We only visited golden sands about 4 times in the 2 weeks that we stayed there as we preferred varna which was cheaper. It did appear clean and had a few clubs and bars. The beach was very nice too. However, there were many prositutes hanging around outside the popular clubs, particularly bonkers disco.
When getting a taxi back it was advisable to agree a price beforehand as one taxi driver charged us 26lev on the way back , when we only payed 6lev (from the hotel taxi service)to get there.

Resort was very clean, we never noticed any rubbish anywhere around the streets. The beach was spotless also which surprised us as the beach was packed every single day.We noticed inparticular how clean the public toilets were on the beach and in the resort on the whole.

The beach was gorgeous golden sands and the sea was clear. The good thing about the sea was that no jelly fish or any other sea creatures are in the black sea which is a bonus if you have ever been biten in the sea.
An excellent point to be made about the beach also was how absolutly everything from Mcdonalds to beach bars to cafes and supermarkets were actually ON the beach so whatever you needed didn't involve you having to walk onto the streets which was very handy!

There are restaurants, bars, and casinos galore in the resort so with regards to entertainment, there is lots to do.There's various types of restaurants from an Indian Restarant called the Taj Mahal, a libannese restaurant, italian and British restaurants. You are spoilt for choice.

We would definatly recommend this resort to any age as there was all ages and groups of people there.

A nice beach and the Black Sea was great but that's where it ends. Party Street was an obstacle course of people pestering you to use their restaurant/bar and prostitutes! There was absolutely no culture on offer, no sites of interest to visit or places off the tourist track to give you a break from karaoke and happy hour. Sadly it was all very boring, monotonous and predictable.

If you like Blackpool - you'll love this! Hotel is right across the road from beach, bars and shops!

Beach nice but very busy. People friendly, food cheap, shops and stalls all the same.

Went into Varna in the day, very cosmopolitan (best bit was walking from the Dolphinarium through the park to Varna).

Definately wouldn't go again

We have been to Golden Sands before and thought the beach was great, long and clean. We saw the guys collecting rubbish late in the evening and sweeping the beach. One of the restaurants was overrun with beetles one night when we went, and my daughter had ants in her chocolate bits on her iced coffee at another place. But these were isolated incidents in an otherwise brilliant place. Most people were helpful and the ones trying to get you to eat in their restaurants were not too pushy, no manhandling or anything. We got quite friendly with one or two, had a chat each evening as we walked past.

We did visit party street once, which was enough, we just walked up and down then left. It's okay while it's just left at the one main street, I don't think I would want to go again if it spreads. The side of the resort where party street stands is a bit busier than the other side, so there is a choice. We heard a fair bit more up to date music than last time we went, and there were a number of restaurants that asked where we were from, then told us they served English Breakfast, Roast Beef and Steak. We preferred the Bulgarian dishes and salads.

We really enjoyed Golden Sands.

The Northern end of the resort was quieter but still had plenty of things to do. There was very little litter around even at the end of the day. Some of the pavements could do with re-laying (Claims Direct would have a field day over there).

There is plenty of entertainment. There ara beach sports (paragliding, banana boats and jet skis) at very reasonable prices. The water Park is very good, I would recommend trying it out at 4pm, its 40% cheaper and alot quieter. The shopping is good fun and very cheap. You can find an abundance of fake designer clothes, sunglasses, watches, caps and football shirts.

All in all a great place for a holiday. It might not be St. Moritz but as an alternative to the Costas, the Canaries, Greece or Turkey you can't go wrong.

Although the resort itself has plenty to offer, try not to get too caught up in the moment. We know of at least 5 people including ourselves that had either their bags, wallets or purses stolen!

The rep will warn you about pickpockets etc but what they fail to tell you is that it happens on a much bigger scale than they let on. Its not something that happens every now and again its a regular occurance.

If you have anything stolen and want to report it, no one will be intrested! The locals play dumb and the police as well as the hotel reception find it hilarious. If you can get a police report, then well done! We had to do with a make shift copy from our rep.
It probably sounds like weve got it in for this hotel but honestly the amount of holiday makers we met that are gonna complain about the things you have read here is unbelievable.

Keep a close eye on ur children and keep a closer eye on your personal belongings, no matter how safe you think youve made them!
