Not a lot to do in the evenings outside the hotel except night clubs, ok if your a youngster. Beach lovely and sea warm. fab service on the beach.

We were just outside Golden Sands, but also very close to St Konstantin. Both places were lovely, freindly, busy, and hot. But not boring. Lots to see and do for all ages.

Like Blackpool without the lights 30 years ago though.

Golden Sands is a purpose built resort, catering purely for the tourist.
We walked the entire length of the resort in around 45 minutes and it was lined almost all the way with shops, bars and restaurants. So plenty of choice and no end of people touting to get you into their bar/restaurant. However, they were always polite so never a problem.
Plenty of places offering buy one, get one free cocktails and prices were very good.
The beach is good, but almost full the entire length with sunbeds and umbrellas, which we thought were expensive, 6 lev bed, 6 lev parasol and 3 lev cushion - quite a lot on a daily basis for a family of four! There was a very thin strip by the sea which you could just about sit on without having to get sunbeds. Plenty of water sports to keep you amused.
A small train runs from each end of the resort to the centre for 1 lev. Overall, we found the resort clean and quite modern. The shops were more "shed size", so not many you could actually walk around in, but plenty of choice and some good prices.
We'd certainly go there again if we wanted this type of holiday.

The resort is very clean and well looked after.
Entertainment is ok if you like to get drunk and sing a lot there is only one thing you have to watch and thats the young girls and pick pockets. This does get to you at first but you soon learn to get on with it.
The beach is great, things to do in the water, plenty of restaraunts and bars but you have to pay for the beds, umbrella, and matresess about 25 leves for two not bad for all day it does get hot though. Rains too so pack some warm clothes just in case

Golden sands was fantastic I'm not one for a little street that you walk up and down for 2 wks and this wasn't. There are things everywere, there are some fantastic places to eat inc dolphin, mamamias, firesteakhouse was excellent.
You can a train from outside kristal which takes you all way down to the other end of g/s which costs 1 leva 30p which is really comes every half hour. Beach really clean and the people were so friendly and helpful.

At the beginning of June we went to the resort of Golden Sands for two weeks.
We found the resort to be clean and the people very friendly. The beach was reasonably clean although the sun loungers are situated a bit too close to each other.
The bars and restaurants are good value and the food was always fresh. My two children are aged 14 and 10 and basically there was nothing for them to do at this resort, at this age they want a lot of entertaining.
Luckily we stayed at a fantastic hotel and they were more than happy to spend most of the holiday there. I really enjoyed my holiday in Bulgaria but personally two weeks was too long for me.
If I came back to this resort it would be mainly to return to the fabulous Hotel Kristal. My ideal holiday is to get a feel for the country I am visiting, I did'nt feel this here the resort could have been anywhere, Tenerife, Spain etc....

Just arrived back from Golden Sands and trying to give a good account of the place.
Stayed at the Dana Palace (but will do a write up on the hotel page) which is about 350yds from the main promenade, at the time we stayed there's a new hotel was being built so the roads were dusty when dry, and muddy when it rained, but it got cleaner and should be alright in a couple of weeks.
As for the resort itself, it is very commercialised and not as cheap (although still cheaper than other countries) as Sunny Beach last year, but maybe prices have gone up from last year.
There are plenty of small shops to keep the shoppers happy, but many sell the same thing so after a couple of days it got boring. The promenade and beach are clean and tidy, but away from the seafront it's not that tidy. There are plenty of Restaurants to eat in, and most serve very good food at reasonable prices. The best was called "The Wealthy Place"(although it's a chinese) on the promenade towards the harbour, the best Bulgarian restaurant was called the "Igsvora" near the Admiral Hotel.
As for the downside be careful with your cash and valuables, we heard of someone going into the horror attraction on the front and coming out with his wallet still in his pocket but his money had gone, even I had a bit of trouble with the welcomer outside the Amfora, he was trying to get me to eat in the restaurant, but when I looked down his hand was trying to get into my bag, when I told him to get his hand off my bag he called me an English pig and some expletives in Bulgarian I presume, so be aware in that area.
Would I go back to Golden Sands?
Not really as there wasn't enough to do during the day,
Sunny Beach was better. As for Bulgaria itself? 99% of the people are really friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to tell people to go.
So roll on next year. Sunny Beach here I come!

We loved Golden Sands. There was plenty to do and was very cheap.
The only annoying thing are the people giving out leaflets advertising bars. We were given 50 in one short walk down the street!
We had read reports of there being lots of prostitutes in the resort although in the week we were there we didnt see a single one.
The beach is lovely and there are plenty of watersports to do which werent expensive at all.
We would definitely visit this resort again.
