Resort is clean and entertainment is ok if you look around. The beach is clean and take plenty of money for sun loungers at the beach.
I think I would maybe visit Golden Sands again but I would not rush out to book again just yet.

Nice resort, plenty to do with lots of places to eat and drink, but the beach, we found to many sunbeds right too the waters edge with no room to walk by the sea without falling over them. Plenty of shops and too many taxis.

Golden sands is generally very clean. The beach is cleaned numerour times each day.
There is lots of nightlife from pubs and clubs to a haunted house and many live shows.

My first trip to Golden Sands and I will certainly be returning, people are really friendly, the Irish bar at the rear of the Hotel Sofia was a great place to round off the evening, the two waiters are really friendly guys and go out of their way to get to know you. I felt like I was leaving old friends at the end.
Girls pushing leaflets for the bars and disco's start to get on your nerves, but the trick is to take the first lot of leaflets and then as you get to the rest, just wave the leaflets in your hand and you get peace.
The same with the restuarants, they are standing outside trying to tempt you in, just pat your tummy and they think you've already eaten, shops and stalls are all open to about 11pm and its a great atmosphere walking around the resort late on.
Saw a few Pro's in the main drag, but never got bothered they seem to watch for men on there own. Also saw a lot of Police activity at night, with cars at the end of the streets and a couple of cops walking, did not see one bit of trouble though and felt very safe.
Watch out if your taking Mastercard, it wont work in the cash machines, I had to go to a bank branch where they only allow 450 Leva in any one transaction. About £160.
That will be plenty though. On any average night on a good sized meal for 2 and drinks for the night we spent between
70 and 100 Leva (£21 to £30),That includes the tip of 10Leva (£3)which the people seem to think is great,
The meals are massive, but dont order a curyy from the Indian or Chinese Restuarants, it is nothing like home.
I will definately be going back although to a differant hotel not the Pliska, and after next year Bulgaria joins the common market so prices are bound to shoot up.

This resort is ideal for couples and families alike. The Bulgarians are very friendly and love children.
Eating out is a delight, the restaurants are excellent, prices are unbelievably cheap and the choice superb. The beach is outstanding and there are plenty of sun loungers availbale for a daily tariff.
A massage is a must and plenty to choose from at very reasonable rates.
The only draw back I found is there is no public transport other than a bus to Varna where you can then get connections to various other destinations.
Taxis are very reasonable though if you like to do your own thing apart from soaking up the sun, agree the price before hire. I would return again.

Resort was too quiet for us, the entertainment which is in practically every bar is very basic and repetative. Late nights are definitely not encouraged in this resort. Drinks approx 2.50lev a pint and anything from 4- 6.5lev for a vodka and coke.
Eating out is o.k. Beef steak is hard to come by-do not be fooled by menus offering steak, very often turns out to be pork

We went to the beach once, it was very nice with loads of entertainment for young and old, day for watersports, night for quad biking etc.
The resort wasn't dirty, the Bulgarian refuse collection is not as efficent as ours, if they had proper bins etc I would give cleanliness 5*
Beach was very good, however there are too many umbrellas which you have to pay for (yes im tight).

Albena was a great resort to visit with a lovely beach and plenty of shops and cafes. We did only visit in the daytime so can't comment on the evening entertainment but was well worth a visit.

Golden Sands has been well built up in the last few years with lots of new 3 and 4 star hotels springing up. With lots of pubs, clubs and eating places about it's like a very miniture Benidorm.
The beach is good with plenty of beds and umbrella's. Hundreds of people offering deals in all the pubs etc, but they can easily be ignored politely. The bars along the seafront offer a varied choice of entertainment.
Prices all through the resort were pretty well the same whether it was in gift shops, bars or restaurants. All in all a good resort and we would return again with no worries.
