The resort compared to others i visited was very clean the toilets you had to pay for but these were cleaned everytime they were used so it was worth it.
Most of the bars etc had live music and always made evryone welcome great with the children can reccomend Golden Sands.
The beach was clean with no rubbish laying around. the sun beds parasols and mattresses which were charged by the day were clean and kept in good condition
I would visit again and have recommended it to others.

Golden Sands is a great resort,it was clean and everyone was very friendly, some resturant owners might have been too friendly.

That is really the only critisism I can level is that some people do hound you to eat in their resturants. But usually a smile and a no thank you does the trick.

Lots of bars to keep you entertained as well.

Beach was beautiful although you have to pay for the sunbeds there is no free part on the beach.

We stayed in the Golden Sands resort, we all had a fantastic time, there is plenty to do day and night.

Shops, bars, restaurants, watersports,we all found the Bulgarian people so friendly. This was our first time to Bulgaria,we will be back next year,to the Golden Yavor apartments.

Golden Sands is excellent for it's cleanliness, the beach is spotless, we even went on the local bus into Varna.

There is a wide variety of cafe's, bars and restaurants that sell excellent food and drinks at really cheap prices. Everywhere is very child friendly. The service and friendliness is outstanding.

We all had a wonderful time and we will be going back sometime in the near future.

Hi this is our 3rd visit to GS , & My family & I love the place & people , we have made many good friends on our visits , every year it gets harder & harder to leave our pals behind , many tears are shed from them & us , we have never had this in any other country we have visited .

The resort has changed alot since our first visit , & I have to say that it is much more geared towards the younger crowd (Ibiza,Falaraki) but their is still plenty for the family to do & see .

The beach is first class you not find any better anywhere , mind you it does get crowded , plenty of water sports going on here & plenty of beach bars with waitress service .

Entertainment is wide & varied from traditional Bulgarian to Nightclubs,Casino's,Karaoke.

Prostitution is legal in Bulgaria , but if you are with Wife/Family you'll not be bothered & if you find yourself propositioned a simple firm no will sufice, the Pros are in one part of GS in a street called party street but only 50 yard long streech.

But within this part you'll find Muppets Karaoke bar witch is part of the Perunika Hotel , Muppets is good for a night out but not every night & if going get there early to get a good seat. Upstairs is the Perunika's & it's Lobby bar where you'll find Nataly,Polina & Raya not going to tell you anything about these girls go & find out yourselves trust me you'll love them .

I hope you all have a great time if you choose to visit GS .

ps if your there in July 2006 I'm the guy singing Hotel California (Eagles) California (Phantom Planet) & most Robbie Williams songs come up & say hello .cheers Stevie Barbour

We went for the first week of July which we expected would be lovely and warm but be warned, the weather can be very very changeable! It rained continuously for a week. And I mean, non stop throwing it down for a week - for the whole week. The week before we went it was baking hot so its really pot luck to be honest. We even had to go out and buy extra clothing as ours was all ruined in the resulting mud from all the rain! I still wear my fake puma trainers to this day:)
Still you cant let the weather keep you down so you will find lots to do.

Party Street is very lively and you have to get out and experience a couple of bars. Most of the smaller bars will have a small cabaret act and its like going back in time. Most of the bigger bars play up to date music and the drinks are very cheap. As a comparison, tequila shots are about 40p and cocktails £1 (depending where you are and what you are drinking). By the way, just once you have to visit the 'Bonkers' disco:) Ill leave it at that and let you experience it for yourselves!

You may see this on other reports for this resort - you will definately get hassled by people giving out leaflets and flyers for bars. You cant ignore them because they are everywhere and will find you! and can be rude if you dont accept a leaflet. After a while it gets very very annoying but if you just say no thank you then you should be ok. Towards the end of the holiday I just used the excuse that i was going home and they left me alone!
There are lots of prostitutes in this area aswell but if you hang onto your man permanently then you will be fine!! If you leave each others sides for even 2 seconds, although they know you are together they will approach him and ask for business. We even saw it happen to other people in restaurants! One lady went to the bathroom in the resturant and her other half was approached at the table!

One good tip - you should take a photo with you from home that you would like reproduced in pastel or paint as there are some brilliant street artists outside the hotel. They will take a photo for you when you are there but if you have one from home you would like doing then they will copy it and they are brilliant.

All in all we had an ok time. The weather was truly horrendous which affected things and the area is getting a reputation as being a bit tacky now. Its great for a cheap and cheerful holiday but it is tacky. Sounds snobby but true. Dont think I would go back. Ive experienced it once but dont think i would go back for more. Hotel is beautiful though so if you want to venture out to Bulgaria i would recommend this one.
