I honestly cannot find a bad thing to say about Golden Sands. Think of the best holiday you have ever had and then double it. Thats Golden Sands! We will be back!

Golden Sands In Bulgaria is a great resort but we found that there was not enough to keep our children occupied
the people are friendly and welcomeing and they really love children and my prediction is that the locals will strive to make this an even better resort year on year
P.s
Ill be back.

golden sands has grown so big in the last ten years ,some for the good and some not so good .You get a lot of beggers in the resort also the prostitute, situation is getting worse. There are a lot more clubs for the young and old alike. It is a very busy resort and you have to watch out for all the cars as they are so many of them. The resort used to be spotless ,but with it getting so big we saw a lot of rubbish lying about which we did not see before,so they will have to do something about it ,as it was not very nice

Enjoyed just walking around deciding where to eat and drink.
Plenty of bargains in the shops but prices are higher in the resorts say than in Varna.

Golden Sands is a purpose built resort that is approximately 3 km in length, with a small harbour at one end. The cleanliness of the resort is very good, with a road sweeper and cleaners cleaning the roads first thing every morning.
Entertainment is very good with a wide variety of bars, discos and casinos. Having a six year old, we did not try the discos or casinos, but I would recommend Sinbads for a good night out with excellent food and entertainment. This is located in the main square next to the Admiral Hotel. The Rock is another good bar with yes wait for it, a Bulgarian Elvis providing great entertainment every evening. The quieter end of the resort is towards the harbour and entertainment finishes about midnight, which is great if you have young ones.
Most bars have some sort of entertainment going on, and there are people on the street trying to promote their bars and restaurants by sticking advertisements in your hand every time you go by. They are not pushy though and a simple no thanks and they leave you alone.
Golden Sands has an excellent water park and there is a mini bus service from the front that takes you there for 1 lev per person. At 24 lev for adults and 12 lev for children it is a great day out. Also on the resort is a crazy golf course, which was a great success with my son, though it can be a bit slow at times when large groups of people play all together.
Having read reports on Golden Sands about prostitutes, yes they are there, but stay at the opposite end to the harbour, and I can honestly say where we went every night in the area between the main square and the harbour and I didn't see one!
The pools and beaches are kept very clean; you do have to pay for sun loungers, umbrellas by the pools and on the beach. The sun loungers are 5 to 6 lev per bed. Water sports are readily available ranging from para gliding to jet skis, and all very cheap compared to other countries.
Taxi drivers are very good, especially two we had outside the Metropol Hotel, Mike and Slatey. Mike took us to Nessebar, which was a great day out, stopping when and where ever we wanted for 120 lev for the day. This was far cheaper than the promoted tours with the reps. We are already booking to go back in 2005. Value for money, friendly people and lots of entertainment make Golden Sands an excellent resort to go.

the resort we stayed in was golden sands was very tidy and the people very nice and they never pestered you into going into there premises.the entertainment was ok it was mainly for the german tourists but if you like karioke the muppet bar is for you we went nearly every night and its mainly british in there and the bar maids who serve you at your table are beautiful especially kali and silvi.

The resort was basically the White Lagoon hotel with a couple of beach bars along the coast. It may not suit everybody as it is quite isolated. You would have to get a taxi to the nearest town of Balchic but this isn't a problem as taxis are available from the car park outside of the reception building and are cheap. The beach at the resort could have been better as there was a lot of seaweed but attempts were being made to clean the beach and improvements such as lighting for the pier were implemented while we were there. Great places for jumping off rocks into the sea from the pier!! Life guards were on patrol and they were very concientious in their duties!

The main warning is take a cagoule and insurance for lightning - just back and it rained with thunderstorms 3 out of seven days - trees brought down in Varna - fire brigade had to have three pumps pumping water from hotel basement. People before us had 11 rainy days in a fortnight. Forecast for next week poor too.
And get ready to be pestered every twenty feet by touts pushing nightclub leaflets at you - the first couple of hundred times was OK then it just got very annoying.
Also they have trolley trains running continually up and down through the crowds in the narrow street that runs the whole resort - an accident waiting to happen with all the kids running around.
