golden sands was clean and friendly, the only thing we hated was contantly being given flyers to pubs and clubs, the resterant waiters chase you down the street to get you tinto there establishments and they can be very persuasive, it can be a nusence. the beach was lovely and clean and the water warm and clear but very dear for parasols and seats, id definatly visit again as next time id be more experienced of what to expect.

Golden Sands has got to be one of the cleaniest holiday resorts ever!
No hard sell tactics from anyone & very affordable prices in the shops.
The beach was as good standard as the blue flag beaches in the UK. On arrival, the weather was dull & rainy but that didn't deter me from taking a dip in the warm sea, whilst I'm an accomplished swimmer, the lifeguards came out to ensure my safety & within a couple of days the weather had returned to beautiful hot, sunny days...bliss!
As this was my first visit to check out the facilities, I now cannot wait to return next year with the children. Fantastic!!!

Excellent beach, but very pricey now for sunbeds/mats and brolly. ( Possibly why so few people were using them )
Found the resort very clean with street cleaning machines working everyday.
We were a bit remote from party street but that didn't bother us as we loved the little " Rock Bar " right on the beach beside the Metropole Hotel. Quite funny really 'cos when the singer wanted a break he just legged it down to the water front( The bars toilet )

Plenty of shops & night life.
Nice golden sandy beach shame you have to pay for sun beds & umbellas.
Toilets facilities are often poor & have to be paid for.
Sewers give off unplesant aroma which is often smelt in street.
We would not return to this resort.

I found the resort to be average, not very clean you did not see any cleaning like you normally see when abroad. Bars after bars but not much difference from one to the next. Not recommended for children.

Right on the Black Sea, which is light blue really, the golden sand contains small pieces of seashells. The water is shallow and the beach slopes very gently under the sea. There are numerous bars and eating places, all serving high quality food and drink, some with in-house entertainment. all pleasantly laid out. There are literally hundreds of flowerbeds, maintained by local women. and a tractor-train runs the seafront regularily, at a cost of 2 leva per person, about 60p. Very impressive place.

The resort is cleaned throughout the day and bins emptied regularly. Nearly all bars have entertainment and the singers appreciate it if you join in the fun. Eating out is cheap and it's worth trying the Bulgarian food.
The beach is clean and gets very busy. You can spend a day on the beach and not move - your food and drinks will be brought to you.
All in all, great resort, great holiday and fantastic people.

Golden Sands is an interesting place. I would say it is a little bit tacky, but more so at night time when there are lots of people on the streets trying to convince you to eat in their resturant. There are also a few prositues hanging around which I found a little offensive, especially because the were quite intimidating.
There are lots and lots of bars and countless numbers of clubs etc.
The beaches are really nice, in places it is really wide. the Black sea is not tidal either, so you don't see lots of seaweed getting washed up and left on the lovely sand.
The people are a tad unfriendly, I think this is just part of their culture, and I am sure it will lighten up as they become more exposed to western Euopean tourists. Mostly the place gets a lot of Russian and German tourists, who are not always the most friendly of people.

Very busy and surprisingly dirty and tacky resort. Streets lined with portrait painters and tourist forgetabilia shops constructed with with chipboard technology, taking over the small pavements, the latter broken and subsiding in many places. Countless number of restaurants, girlie bars, nightclubs, most having Pr people waving leaflets & menus at you all the time as you pass. The resort seems very popular with European 18-13s from western and eastern european countries.
Whilst the main drags were reasonably clean, the stepped paths going up/down the the resort were lined with discarded smelly rubbish. Later on in the evening the main streets were lined with discarded and broken 'Kamekazi' bottles. To the south end of the resort beyond the Riviera complex, by the deserted 'check point charlie' (abandoned due to severe road subsidence) by some of the small hotels were 6' high piles of rubbish, this also lined the access paths to the beach in this area, little used by tourists.
The Bulgarians seemed to be very friendly and pleasant in the various bars/restaurants/supermarkets.
Countless girls handing out Pr leaflets for various enterprises, they had all the approach roads to bar street covered.
Working girls plied along bar street around the GoGo girls/Bonkers/Muppet part of bar street, also along the sea front between the Pr.Club and the Admiral hotel. Noticeable in late evening/early morning.
Beach - Excellent very long and sandy, but very limited space to 'throw down the towel', sunbed/shade concession areas did not like it at all if you tried to use spaces they had roped off. The north end of the beach towards the harbour had more free space as here was only one row of hotels. The harbour was decaying and half finished.
The centre section of the beach was extremely noisy with several beach bars pumping out disco music all day, the beach was long enough so there were quieter sections.
The sea was persistently rough almost every day with very little shelter, apart from an area in front of the Imperial hotel in the Riviera complex of hotels (you were moved on even though the sunbed/shades were almost unused and the restaurant behind had no punters - hardly good business).
Behind the resort was the Aladja Monastry and Catacombs in the Zlatni Pjasatsi national park, worth taking a taxi to and then walking back down to the resort along marked footpaths, these were little used and were quiet. A map is available on the Bulgarian national parks website (bg-parks.net). Then again even here there was a large pile of rubbish at one of the picnic stops that obviously had accumulated earlier in the year.
Weather - It is not a mediterranean climate so there is some rain in the summer months, and I had several days in a fortnight mainly in short thunderstorms. The hot season is somewhat shorter than in competing areas around the meditteranean.
Noddy trains (2 Lev) went from the Admiral hotel to the harbour/nude beach at the north end of the resort, and another from the Admiral to the hotels up the hill and round past the Odessos hotel.
