We have never visited a more beautiful area (and we have travelled around the world). It was simply breathtaking!
The beach was stunning! It was never crowded, beautifully clean, ample sunbeds and shade.
Be prepared to have a relaxing holiday, the hotel is isolated and the only local place to visit is the small resort of Guardalavaca(by horse and cart).
There is a good variety of excursions, but these are not cheap! I read about getting to the Dolphinarium independently and saving moey. This is not true, it was the same price through the rep.
One very worthwhile tour was the overnight saty in Havannah. It was excellent value for money.

This was a lovely resort, beach was beautiful and staff were very friendly, nothing was to much trouble. We did take a few presents and gave tips to people who we thought deserved them, but this was not expected. The location was very remote and the nearest small town was a taxi ride away. The best excersion was swimming with the dolphins - a must. The food was very good when you think of what they have vailable to them,in the local shops, there is nothing to buy, food, drink or gifts. We were all inclusive and there was always something for us to eat. Had no problems at the airports or travelling out and about. Overall was a great holiday and would to go back.

The resort was very clean.
Can't comment to much on the entertainment as did not see much of it.
Beach was excellent.
You can walk through the wood to another bay where the dolphins are based very quietand peacfull here,we met a local fisherman who found big shells and was harpooning fish for tea fascinating!!

Don't go expecting to be able to take a stroll from the hotel into the resort centre - there isn't one.
You go to the hotel for the duration of your holiday, unless you do any excursions.
Holguin combo trip is well worth the small price you pay, includes a visit to an old sugar mill, a cigar factory, a beautiful hilltop farm for lunch, then on into the city of Holguin.
Also if you get the chance, Cayo Saetia, which is Fidel Castro's own island, is paradise...

Outside the hotel there is not a lot to offer. A small market at Guadalavaca has some handy crafts on offer but not much else. The beach is nice to walk .

We rarely ventured out of the hotel because the town of guadalavaca had little to offer tourists.
The dolphin swimming is a must do experience, all the dolpins are in a sheltered natural bay in pens that they can easily jump over and I was told they sometimes do escape and return after a few days.
The Cubans accept this as a natural occurance and dont try to stop them from raoming free, so it is probably the most ecological friendly dolphin park in the world.
The beaches are nice in guadalavacca especially esmerelda beach, its beautiful.

Playa Pesquero is a secluded beach, surrounded by similar hotels. The nearest town is Guardalavaca - some 10 miles away. Apparently, this has 5 shops & a small market.
This is not the resort for you, if you expect shops & bars in the vicinity. The nearest "nightclub" is in Holguin, an hours drive away.
The beach is lovely & clean, but is a public beach & therefore can be used by locals and holiday-makers, though we never saw anyone other than holidaymakers on it, other than the staff.
We never got hassled by any kind of beach vendors whilst we were there. There are plenty of non-motorised beach activities to take part in, from snorkelling to windsurfing.

The resort is quite remote though it is only a short taxi ride or teh noddy train (which is an experience) into Guardalavacca to a small market and a public beach - here we waved jumped with local children and had the best mojito I have ever tasted.
