Well your not going to find a great deal going on outside the hotel, in fact theres nothing after dark, you would even struggle to take a walk unless you wanted to walk around the hotel grounds, the entertainment is hotel bassed and theres a show every night,it was very well presented, great dancing. and only one night did they ask for ordience participation , which was a great bonus for me.
During the day theres plenty to do if you want it, Horse riding catamarans pedalos water arobics vollyball need I go on.
One small reminder if your going soon dont worry about the hurricans they mostly miss this area.
Trips I would recommend are Havana swimming with dolphins and santiago de cuba, if you dont plan on doing anything you need not take much money as there is nothing to buy there are no english cigarets to be found so take plenty if you smoke, and remeber to bring back some bacardi rum its £3 a litre and great, Cigars are obviously plentyfull but watch the street traders as you could get ripped off.
make sure your passport photo looks very much like you as the authorities are very strict.
Im sure you wouldnt try to take anything illegal with you but in case you where considering it dont bother the sniffer dogs are at the airport and if your cought you cant even get in so its a quick trip back home on the next plane.
on that note have a great holiday and I would go back tomorrow if I could, Please remeber that the cuban people have very little they desperatly need soap toothpaste and razers the children are greatful for pens and paper clothes are also very welcome i left a lot of my things behind and gave soap and razers to people in the streets as the hotel workers are given quite a lot.

Cannot really comment on the resort as we only visited the once and for a short period only. The horse and carriage ride was enjoyable into the resort.

Not much in the way of entertainment in the day but good shows of a night if you like that kind of thing.
Beach and sea 1st class cannot fault it!
Would come here again but not the hotel Rio de luna/mares

The resort of Guadalavaca is a great way to see cuba traditional Cuba, to see how they really live and get in with the locals.
Take a trip to the local flee market, on a horse and trap -visit the trap drivers house mix with the locals and enjoy the real Cuban way of life.

The entire resort was kept immaculate and I would rate the visit as 5*, couldn't fault a thing.
Entertainment was well advertised and occurred each day and night.
Beach can only be described as paradise!
Staff are fantastic so welcoming and lovely. Cant wait to go back!
Some people have complained of Mosquito bites, but we took spray on repellent and weren't bitten once.

the sea was warm but had lots of weed growing about 20yrds off shore, some days there were bubbles and bits on the top of the water when the tide was coming in, as there is a manhole on the beach it seems the hotel sewage goes in the sea about there, it is a public beach and as soon as you go into the water the locals swim over and pester you to either buy things from them or give them things like toothpaste, they just drop there drink bottles on the sand or in the sea so you have to look out for broken glass

The resort and beach are they best i have visited on my travels, although the resort entertainment is a bit on the boring side unless you like dancing, but the disco is good.
