Beaches

Very clean and tidy although perhaps a few more bins on the beach would be nice. The beach itself is lovely, white sand with shells and a nice surprise was a lack of seaweed (I hate the stuff wrapping itself around you as you swim) You could do what ever you wanted without being hassled by the staff to join in.

I expected the resort to have something to offer but in truth there was nothing but hotels and one bar. Three small tourist shops in the resort spent more time shut than open and the staff were not very helpful at all. There is no entertainment outside the hotels. The beach is good and clean. If you want to see the real Cuba you have to leave the resort which we did by hiring a taxi at a reasonable cost.

The resort of Guardalavaca has come on loads in the yaers we have been visiting but please remember this is not blackpool you are visiting and with that in mind it is a nice friendly place to go.

The resort itself is magnificent, you really cant go wrong. Exceptional value for money and you will not find more friendlier people than the Cubans (except the welsh).
There is something to do day and night. We have been on a few carribean holidays but have never experienced such a beutiful breath taking beach as the one in playa pesquero.
Food is fantastic, some people complain a little but really take no notice its wonderful. This year will be extra special as its my girlfriends birthday.
Am over excited to be going back and will give a full report when we arrive home.

again excellent cleanlines. resort entertainment a bit loud in day time if you want peace and quiet but doesnt last long.
Beach was beautiful and not that busy so could get a sunbed
easily, was also very clean and contant flow of drinks and food close by so you dont have to go back to hotel all the time for food.
Yes i would go back again.

Visited Brisas Guardalavaca during March Break. The resort is beautiful. Entertainment was fantastic--will never forget Yordi, Mike & of course the band Nueva Ola --Yeti, Danielo, Rafael & Khalifa. The beach was beautiful--a couple of days it was really windy so we put some beach chairs around us so we did not have to eat sand. Will be returning March 2005--can not wait!!!

There is very little to see or do outside the hotels. Shops consist mainly of RUM; CIGARS; PERFUME & SOUVENIRS.
There was a beach party held, in the resort centre, a couple of times a week but it was filled with undesirables.
The sea had a lot of weed quite close to the surface-not pleasant for snorkelling. The beach by the hotel is man made but of fine white sand and there is pleanty of shady trees.
No fast food restaurants means there is little litter and apart from the occasional drainage smell, quite clean.

Extremely clean....and brand new.
The entertainment could have been a bit better, but not the end of the world.
The beach is supposed to be excavated shortly. But it was still okay.

Playa Pesquero has 3 hotels (I think a 4th Occidental is currently been built) and is in the middle of knowwhere. No shops or bars except in your hotel. You can not enter other hotels as security stop you. Wild horses roam the area and we were told sometimes enter the hotels, this causes great amusment to guests. Guardavalaca is a taxi ride away and offers more going on, we did not go as we were only in Cuba for a week.
The resort, if you can call it that is a base and most hotels offer all you need including disco's. We would return here but if you like to go out to localbars etc this is not the area for you yet! It may change as more hotels build in the area. Varadero is the busy area in Cuba and the Cayo island offer even more remote setting with only a few trips. Holguin area is a mix of the 2, the countryside is so picturesque and I wish we had time for a few trips.
