We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Cypria Maris. We were booked on a half board basis but for the price of 12 Cypriot Pounds per person a day you could update to an all Inclusive Basis. Which seemed very good value. I believe the hotel will be turning All Inclusive completely from next year. The Hotel was very clean, rooms cleaned daily by friendly maids. The food was excellent with a great choice. as the Cypria Maris is not as big as the Cypria Bay next door dining was a pleasure. The Hotel Staff were very friendly. The Hotel location was the only downside. It was quite a walk to the harbour especially in the August Heat! We would definetly visit the Hotel again.

Just returned from staying in The RIU Cypria Bay Hotel in July 2007.

As we arrived at the aiport we picked up are bags and had a rep from expedia waiting for us in a car outside the airport. It then took 20 mins from the airport to the hotel which was excellent. We arrived at 9:30 and we quickly put our bags in our room and raced back down for some dinner as there was only 30 minutes left to eat. However even If we had of missed dinner we would have been able to eat cheese and ham tosties which are available at the bar from 10pm-12am.

Next day breakfast was brilliant. They have all the popular cereals we have here in England... eg. Rice crispies, weatabix, coco pops. The have evey item of the English Fry up, they have crosiants, cakes, fruit, pancakes and also hot chocolate. I will warn you their Milk tastes very strange to say the least... rumours went around that it was goats milk... whatever milk it was it was vile and you could taste it in your tea.

Lunch is in a open restaurant outside, which is practical as you can walk out of the pool and go straight in for some food. Lunch doesn't have so much choice as dinner and breakfast but there is still plenty to choose from. Everyday there is a different flavoured soup, which I recommend you try as they are very nice and not like your heinz out of a tin type of soup. Lunch is served between 12:30-2:30, I recommend you eat at 1:45, as there are more tables avaliable. From 2:30-5:00pm at this restaurant they have sandwhiches laid out and also scmpi and chips just incase you had an early lunch or just feel hungry after all your swimming.

Dinner has 2 sittings which you have to tell them which one your going to be at as they arrange the tables differently. The earlier one is 6:30-8:00 and the next is 8:30-10pm. We always went to the earlier one, as I dont know wether its the heat but you can get really hungry.

I recommend you taking the bus down into the harbour. There is an atmosphere down there and some shops and an old castle. People who tell you the harbour is a 20 minute walk from the hotel are lying... itsmore like a 45 minute walk.... Take the BUS!!

Hotel staff are lovely, some not so chatty but still pleasant.

Entertainment was a complete joke one night. Do not enter yourself for the mr and misses competition... they end up making the men wear a nappy and make the wife chenge it and put talon powder on him.... it was rather quite sickening and I would say at that point every british person walked out horrifyed as It was becoming diabolical.

The entertainment team are great, however one man named Angelo starts talking to you and then asks you for money and says he was out the night before and he has no money and wants you to feel sorry for him. so watch out for him, however he is still a good entertainer.

Just a reminder, get up at 8am at the latest as the sunbeds go very quickly. The Germans seem to get up very early and take them. Some Germans were very loud so try not to get a sunbed next to them!

I would deffinately return, the food was the best part and everything was so relaxing

Cypria Maris Beach Hotel Paphos.

This used to be a wonderful hotel with beautiful gardens and excellent sea access. We were treated to ethnic dayswith samples of Cypriot outdoor cooking to try and the management cocktail parties were special occasions to meet staff and guests.

The atmosphere was friendly and relaxing and we made many friends that we meet each year to this very day. Then Rui took over the hotel and built the Cypria Bay next door. Thus Riu ruined the Cypria Maris which is now run down and used as a dormitory for the overspill from the Cypria Bay who pay for all-in accommodation.

This year even the pool was out of action. Sadly we won`t be returning after coming every year since 1995.

This was our first All Inclusive Holiday chosen as we were staying for Xmas.

We arrived about 10.30 pm too late for the Restaurant but advised there were sandwiches available by the bar!!! These were dried up cheese and ham cut into quarters languishing by a tiny caked up sandwich toaster that got barely warm. When I asked for an alternative as I don't eat cheese I was told to take it out!!!! Not a good first impression. Still we got a "free" drink and gratefully turned in.

Our partial sea view which cost extra was just that. It also overlooked waste ground. Still it was spacious, clean and welcome after our days travelling.Next morning refreshed we were woken by the sun blazing through our window.Things looking up.Sadly the warm weather didn't last and though dry most days were quite chilly in the wind. Our room remained warm all week but there were many complaints from guests overlooking the car park -they were frozen.

Breakfast was good with plenty of choice as were all the following meals. The Xmas Eve Gala dinner was very nice if a little chaotic. We paid extra for a bottle of Rose which was a mistake as the free house wine was much more palitable.

The Hotel was 40 mins walk to the harbour but buses frequent and cheap.Nothing much close by except a supermarket and small cafe bar.The bar was in the lobby and twice the Nightclub was taken over by outside guests so that was the only place available to us. There were no quiet places to sit.

On the positive side there was a beautiful pool area and indoor heated?? pool, jacuzzi Sauna and Gym all free of charge. Sadly it was too cold to swim outdoors or sunbathe if that was your want.

All in all we enjoyed our stay as we met some very nice people.

We wouln't return to this hotel or go All Inclusive again as we ate and drank far too much. Still it was Xmas.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of fresh orange juice which was nice and our check in was swift and efficient.

The maids serviced the rooms leaving fresh towels on a daily basis.

Air con in the room was very welcome, although was quite noisy when trying to sleep(noisier than you would expect), but wouldn't have been able to sleep without it as it was so hot.

The food did get quite repetetive after the first week, but we expected that. All in all the food was of excellent quality.

The hotel's location was as described in brochure, about a 20 minute walk to the harbour, although you wouldn't want to do this in the middle of the day! There is a very regular bus service which is cheap and there is a bus stop about 200m down the road.

All the hotel staff were great, they were friendly and attentive, with the exception of the bar manager who was very rude at times.

The entertainment team were very good. There were daily activities to get you off your sunbeds and the evening entertainment was also very good.

We would like to say thanks to Keith, Zico and all the girls in the entertainment team for making our holiday one to remember.

If you were thinking of booking any excursions I would by-pass the tour rep and book directly with the trips organisors, as you can save a fortune.

All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday. The weather was great and we would recommend this hotel to anyone.

When we arrived after 12 hour delay we were asked if we wanted to move to the Laura beach hotel in Coral Bay full board at no extra cost, we thought this weird as we had booked the hotel for the location to the harbour in the first place.

We later found out the reason for this was that they were over booked. We spoke to quite a few people that had arrived at the sister hotel in the middle of the night to find out they were full and they had to be moved to the Maris and had to pay extra????? what is that all about??? I thought Rui was a professional group of hotels.

Anyway hotel and rooms were poor for 4 star when we said to staff they said we are 4 star madam but we are 25 years old, well nothing has been done to up grade this hotel in 25 years.

Entertainment for the height of summer season was very poor, the same singers were on sometimes two nights in a row singing the same songs and telling the same jokes.

We have stayed in Paphos a few times and love Paphos itself as it is unspoilt with friendly people - a 4 star along the road we stayed in in Easter 2006 was superior and the same price stay here as it is classy..THE ALEXANDER THE GREAT.......

Just come back from two weeks at this hotel. The hotel is fine but I wouldn't put it at a 4* more a 3*.

Rooms are kept very clean no problems there.

The pool very nice but is a bit too small when you have giant ducks, lilo beds ans numerous balls in the pool all at the same time. Sun loungers are filthy they have never been washed since the beginning of the season. Full of chocolate, spilt drink, suncream and dead skin! Bins around the pool are left over spilling even though the pool bar overlooks a particular bin.

Food is edible but gets repetitive after 3 or 4 days. You get the same food for lunch as you do for evening meal. Apparently the food budget was cut prior to us going out there as in May the food was very nice.

I would not recommend this hotel to my friends on the basis the food was terrible, shame as it is a reasonable hotel otherwise.

Can't believe some of the other reviews I have read about this fantastic hotel. I totally disagree, this is an excellent hotel.

We had a marvellous holiday there, the food is absolutely delicious. We ate in every night never feeling the need to go elsewhere. Breakfasts to die for!

The pool was beautifully clean!

Staff marvellous. We will go back, best holiday we've had!

We stayed in July 2006 for two weeks, the hotel is lovely, clean and well presented.

There are two sitting for meal times 6.30pm-8.00pm then 8.30-10.00pm. when we arrived they have put us on early sitting but we managed to change it after 3 days. There were queues at the bar between 8.00-8.30 as everyone was either waiting to go for their meal or had already ate, the hotel should put more staff on at this time.

The pool was lovely but did get a bit murky at times, we had to get up before 9pm if we wanted a sunbed any later and you would not get one.

I did witness people being moved to the sister hotel, the Cypria Maris a few times, they said the hotel was overbooked, However a few people refused and they found them rooms!!. This would make me think twice about staying here again which is a shame as the hotel is lovely.
