Penera is a lovely resort, much smaller than Protaras but with excellent restaurants and bars. The beach is beautiful to look at but my one complaint would be the amount of cigarette ends that people insist on dropping on the sand, something really ought to be done about this as eventually everyone will be sunbathing amoung cigarettes and not sand.

I like Pernera. It is lower key than Protaras centre but with enough to keep you happy and it is only a short bus ride or a 15-20 minute walk if you do want to go there.

Paralimni is quite a small resort but if you want for night life then Protaras is not far away. Paralimni has some nice restaurants although we have not had much experience of these as we have always stayed all-inclusive, but this year the food was so awful we did go out a few times.
Can't really comment on the entertainment but there seemed to be a few bars with boards outside advertising 'Karaoke Nights' and various 'soundalike' acts. So I think entertainment is there if you want it, as to the quality of it, I am not sure.
The beach is lovely, not too crowded when we were there. The resort may be too quiet for some, but we love it and will go back there and maybe try self-catering next time.

Pernera is a small village type location, it is a mini protaras without the loudness and constant crowds on the pavements.
Some of the restaurants here are excellent, but having visited for years have gone down in my expectations.
Going to Cyprus has got dearer, but still value for money, i hope one day they will get better entertainment, hearing Tom Jones/kylie and Elvis most nights is a real turn off. The hypnotist was good at the Windmills apartments, and the live sports channels in various pubs.
The resort is fairly clean but pavements are uneven and some what dusty. The beach is down the road from our apartment,in a cove and was lovely, with green sea. Umbrellas costing £1.25 cyp and sun beds the same price.
I love Pernera and would certainly come again.

The resort was ok but not the nicest I have stayed in. There was a lot of rubbish arouind the resort and a very deadly road opposite the apartments/hotel.
There were lots of karaoke clubs and bars in the resort and it was nice to go out to the various bars rather than staying in the hotel all the time.
The beach was very small. However a 15 minute walk around the coast takes you to the beautiful fig tree bay beach. I would definately visit the resort again as I had a very pleasent holiday.

Pernera is perfect if you want somewhere a bit lively but still not too lively! The age range there is good - no one is going to feel out of place. Protaras is just up the road with extra night life and Ayia Napa is CY£9 in a taxi if you fancy something a bit livelier still. The whole area is distinctly British with all that comes with it if you know what I mean! If that floats your boat, then its nice.
The beaches are clean and the atmosphere everywhere is really friendly and relaxed - you would struggle not to enjoy it there.
We hired a car for most of the week and went to Larnaca a few nights and also Nicosia for the day. Pernera is a good base within easy reach of the motorway network to get around the island, although it is quite remote to reach Paphos (would take you 2.5 hours in a car). See as much of the island as you can, there is a lot to see for an island so small.

The resort was perfect away from the busy traffic i felt safe there for myself and my kids.
Two local supermarkets which were good.
The restaurants were really good especilly the blue spice
you must try it.
We are all going back next year and taking more people with us.
